Braintree Review

PROS: As an iOS developer I have to integrate payment gateway so I can enable the payment process, after trying other products I have finally found Braintree and I feel that this is one of the best platform I have ever used. The integration was very easy and smooth I just needed to add some codes. The product is robust and easy to navigate and use. It can be used by almost everyone.

CONS: I have run into some limitations and those are: Inability to customize its interface (the background color, title color and other things.) I’m not able to use the SDK for some huge campaigns.

PROS: None. Total waste of my time. You sign up and get nothing.

CONS: No ability to close. Once signed up there is no escape.

PROS: As a services provider, I like how Braintree allows me to accept more credit card options. In comparison to other payment processors (such as authorize.net), this solution is more affordable too. After scouting around the market, I’ve discovered that Braintree has more promos offered. A lot of its features are free as well—from the use of its online platform and its gateway.

CONS: One has to be familiar with writing API scripts to be able to fully utilize the shopping carts. This isn’t too much trouble for me, but other users might not have the same training as I do. They have an added layer of protection too when you purchase in bulk—a feature that can swing between being a benefit and a hassle at the same time.

PROS: Nothing, read below to learn why we would never recommend them.

CONS: Braintree Payments  (a PayPal company) is a scam and nobody should sign up for it. We have used it for exactly 10 days before we had to pull the plug from using it. This is the story - we are a Cyprus based company (EU) but our eCommerce website's main currency is USD. When we signed up with  Braintree Payments, we have told them that we would like to be paid in USD and that USD should be the default currency of the account. We've added a USD bank account to our Braintree account, it is a USD account even that the bank itself is located in Cyprus. So we had a USD account, were paid in USD, and we have asked them to settle the payments into a USD account. However, to our horror, we've discovered that Briantree FORCES us to convert our funds to Euro before they made the deposit into our bank account, converting the USD to Euro with a horrible rate (of course) which ended up with a total processing fee of 8%. We, of course, stopped using them immediately, and they refused to compensate us for this little scam that they've pulled on us, saying that if we wanted to settle in USD, we would have to apply again.  I want to stress, again, that we were told that our "default currency" is USD and not in a million years we would imagine that for "some reason" (the reason being - they want to make more profit) they would FORCE us to convert the funds to Euro before settling. Again, the real reason that they are doing this is so they can make some extra cash on the currency conversion spread. This is something that PayPal, which owns Braintree has been doing for years, and there were and are dozens of lawsuits against PayPal around the world for them forcing all sorts of fees relating to currency conversions on their customers. We would recommend everybody to avoid this company.

PROS: I like its quality of service and security. I also like the ease of retrieving credit cards to charge through our Point-of-sale software.

CONS: To be honest, there’s nothing to dislike about this system. But just like any other system out there, there’s still room for improvement. Specifically, I wish there’s an easier way to manage several different accounts at once.

PROS: I love how thoroughly vetted and well-thought-out this solution is. Kudos to the team for developing such a clean and systemically ordered payment processor. Find your way around this solution and getting information on your payment is really easy and convenient.

CONS: You need to have all the details if you want to trace a particular payment in your account. On one end of the spectrum, this can be quite a hassle. However, I do understand the peculiarities of this because we are dealing with money after all. Safety and security take high importance.

PROS: Braintree offers APIs that every merchant needs. I needed a feature so I can fetch all transaction of a day. When I wanted to move from version 2.0 to 2.22.0 I have used the API. When I completed the process I was pushed immediately to the product. It was great experience. I really love to contribute to this product and provide them with lot of ideas.

CONS: I cannot find anything to dislike about the product. It’s really amazing including the prices. I want to see Braintree in my country.

PROS: Great online payment gateway that offers many incredible capabilities such as the card hold and multivendor features, Braintree benefits the business in various ways. We got to offer our clients many payment methods as well as confidence to shop with us.

CONS: If there’s anything to dislike about the product it would be the admin dashboard. You still need to go to search in order to find transactions and customers easily. But it’s not a deal breaker. A little improvement in this aspect will make things perfect.

PROS: Free transaction fees for 50k was the main thing why we use Braintree Marketplace. It is also backed up by paypal. We implemented API into our platform including credit card payments from our buyers and this goes to escrow and the admins are allowed to refund the buyer or to pay the farmers. We needed 80hrs to integrate the product and figure out all its applications. Customer service behind Braintree is wonderful and they always help no matter whether you have knowledge in technologies or not.

CONS: I think that they would put together BT developers who are experts in API integration and to do the integration process from the very beginning. We could’ve release our product quicker on the market.

PROS: They have a really solid customer support team backing up their whole operation. They were able to get back to me with a solution to my query in just a day or two. I’ve also compared their fees with other payment portals. So far, Braintree has the lowest fees out of all my options.

CONS: This solution isn’t especially friendly to start-ups such as myself. I’m only just starting up my business and I don’t know much about security stipulations. After much research, I’ve been able to successfully set-up my account. Again, their support team was there to help me out the whole time too.

PROS: I am iOS developer and I needed to integrate payment gateway in order to enable payment process, Braintree is highly functional system for this kind of work and I feel like this is one of the best platforms I’ve ever worked with. PROS: Believe it or not, you have free transaction fee for 50K with Braintree system. In addition, I really like that the system is backed up by paypal. We managed to implement API into our platform and to include credit card payments from our buyers and even admins are allowed to refund the buyer . We needed less than 3 days to integrate the product and to understand all its apps. Its support team is wonderful and always willing to help.

CONS: Maybe they would but their BT developers to do the integration process from the start.

PROS: I really like the idea of Brain Tree which is powerful and very beneficial. The documentation is helpful for our developer’s team because they can help me easily with every application I use. The integrations are straightforward.

CONS: You cannot find lot of information about the product and its options. If you want to test the product you need to registrate frist. I really like an option where I can choose wheter I want to sign up or not for testing the products.

PROS: The Idea of Brain tree is very powerful and I am amazed how much benefits I can get from it. The documentation is great for developers and they help me with every application I want to use. The Sandbox tests API and the integration was understandable too. This my favorite payment option from now on.

CONS: To be honest, you cannot find lot of information about the product and its options so when navigating it you’ll get an idea of every option it offers. The sandbox requires registration if you want to test the product, I would like to choose whether I want to sign up or not in order to test the products.

PROS: In less than two weeks we managed to integrate Braintree. The whole process was smooth and without any troubles. The support team is great, helpful and knowledgeable. I like the API and Java SDK and even the documentation is simple to navigate.

CONS: You need to know that the approval process is not that simple, it requires additional documents and ID copy. To be more clear, all these steps are great and they are highly recommended for better security level.

PROS: Unfortunately, the small businesses are targeted by fraudsters and we had bad experience with this kind of issue in the past and it cost us huge amount of money because we used old payment verification system. Now with Braintree Payments we feel even more secure and we don’t have to worry about fraudulent experience.

CONS: You have to follow all the sign-up procedures and read all the documentation, we had an issue where customer missed step and he was refunded the money. The issue was solved perfectly but it was really complicated and frustrating at the beginning.

PROS: Braintree offers everything that every merchant needs. I’m glad they implemented feature where I can fetch all transaction of a day. I’ve used API to switch from veriosn 2.0 to 2.22.0, as soon as I completed the process I was pushed to the product immediately. Also, i love that I can contribute to this product and offer them lot of ideas and suggestions.

CONS: This is amazing product with flexible price system. I don’t find anything to dislike.

PROS: It took two weeks to approve and integrate Braintree product. The whole process was without any troubles and its support team is very helpful and responsive. As a developer I love the API and Java SDK. The documentation is extremely easy to navigate.

CONS: We thought that the approval process was quick, but they required more than 5 documents even a copy of ID. Someone might think that all these requirements are needless and too much but in my opinion it is great step for better security.
