What is Google Analytics?

Google Analytics is world’s most popular freemium web analytics service, used worldwide by thousands of companies. PROS: Google Analytics provides important information about your site visitors, and this is great tool because you can easily and effectively manage your contents. It has great set of reports and statistics tools. You will get basic reports but you are able to dive deeper into the data so you can make more advanced analysis of it. Don’t worry if you are beginner or if you don’t have any kind of knowledge about Online-anallytics tools, you have lots of videos that will help you and teach you how to use the GA. You should know that the software is made by Google, so you have constant updates and new features. You can even try its mobile app. But, the most important thing is the fact that is for free.

CONS: When I started with GA I thought that this was a complex platform, and it was a little overwhelming for me. They could make more videos or tutorials when a client signs up. I love the complex visualization of the data, but it’s difficult to customize and apply filter actions. Once you learn how the system works you will see that it is easy to use.

PROS: What I like most about GA is the fact that I can use it for free. I get analytics on website data. It allows us to integrate it with AdWords and Webmaster Tools. I really like its dashboard, segmentation and attribution data.

CONS: I constantly check the accuracy of the data. It requires filtering out bots because it increases the visitors and page view metrics. Because of the Google switch I always lose the keyword data. Also, I don’t like the sampling when it comes to customized reports. It would be great if they could add more insight into the user demographics so we can easily gather information about our audience. In addition, they could improve the visitor and goal flow as well.

PROS: I like how google analytics work and I love the huge amount of data that I get from this software. We use this tool for different brands and we are able to toggle between different data sets so we can compare our products and performance with one another. The information/data we get is readable and understandable even for those who are non-marketing people. The data I get is very useful for my business.

CONS: It’s a little difficult to set up custom reports, and I can hardly understand some of the verbiage on the tabs. Also, I find it complicated to pull into charts and graphs. Sometimes the amount of data I get for a certain section can be overwhelming.

PROS: My first experience with Google Analytics was overwhelming. I was overwhelmed of the data it provided me. Thankfully, I have figured out quickly. This tool is great for monitoring social marketing efforts, web traffic, campaigns. I advise you to install the e-commerce tracking code so you can keep track of your sales.

CONS: If you are not familiar with GA it can be really confusing in the beginning, so you can start with some tutorials on how to use this tool and what it does for you.

PROS: Google analytic software is easy to implement and gives deep insight into the website I work on. When I log in I can see current visitors, their behavior, most visited pages, how long they stay on particular page, what page they open most and other important information. I use it to keep track of almost everything on my website. I am more confident in making changes to the website because I can compare data to the previous time, and I can see whether I have made some improvements or I’m still in the same place.

CONS: If you don’t want to spend some time to learn GA, it can be overwhelming because of the data you will get from it. Once you learn how the system works, it can be fun and interesting.

PROS: I am really amazed of the information I get. I personally use Google Analytics to keep track of clicks, video plays, campaign acquisitions and events. It offers basic reporting but you can choose advanced analysis like MCF reports. I am able to set Goals up, and to get goals reports, I can see when visitors perform specific actions, trigger a conversion. Don’t worry if you are not an expert in analytics, you can ask Google on how to use Google analytics, there are great videos that will help you learn the product.

CONS: I have to say that event tracking is not easy to set up, I always need extra support from engineering team, in order to add lines of code to the pages. I recommend you Google Tag Manager even though they don’t mention this. Also, I have seen lot of “0” on reports, I think those are for more advanced reports, however I don’t get notification that I set up advanced tracking. In addition, sometimes I have problems with loading reports and others will display the “0” without instruction on what I need to do to start the tracking for specific report. Also, some source metrics will appear as “direct/none” and you can think that the visitor directly typed the URL, but this is not true because there are other possibilities than typing the URL on the address bar.

PROS: Google Analytics provides simple implementation and the dashboard is extremely easy to use and intuitive tool. You can even create various dashboards with different widgets. By doing this you can pick up one specific metric, a pie chart comparing metrics or even timeline of two metrics with the possibility to use different filters. You are able to track new medium and websites that are created for mobile device and mobile app.

CONS: At first this software looks like complex table full of tools and huge amount of data, but once you learn how to use it, customize it then you will love this tool.

PROS: I like how it measures the engagement and conversion data. You can easily set up the dashboard and to start display the data that is most relevant for you. You can even choose the format of the reporting. You are allowed to customize the report so it can suit your needs.

CONS: It takes some work for setting up the tool, also we experience some internal issue but I’m not sure whether this is GA fault or not. It would be great if they could add more modeling within the platform.

PROS: Within google analytics you will get not onle detailed user metrics and custom reports but UTM code so you can customize campaigns and add them immediately without prior setup in some analytics software. It allows you to share the access with clients or with your team members. You are able to create your own custom events to trigger. This is not just track page hits and traffic because you are able to track your site engagement effectively.

CONS: The advanced options and abilities are not for beginners, the amount of data can be overwhelming and you have to look through each documentation so you can better understand each metrics is for, and to learn how to process all data segments so you can get the full image in the end.

PROS: What I love is that I can easily set up the analytics script without affecting the speed of the page loads. I can even use the Google’s knowledge base (and this is very helpful for capturing data about visitors) to integrate it with stats, so the website admins can understand the audience and they can easily plan the contents, features and products.

CONS: I don’t have any complains about the product. But, my opinion about Google Analytics is that everything is centralized with google and they monitor people’s habits by using your site. I’m saying this because everyone has different and own view when it comes to the privacy, some may find this uncomfortable.

PROS: GA is easy to set up and extremely easy to use. We have been using GA for more than 3 years and it provides us with important information about our digital marketing efforts. We have high level of documentation thanks to this one. We are using it on a daily basis and I have to say that we haven’t experienced any negative issue when it comes to the data and its accuracy.

PROS: GoogleAnalytics provides great amount of information that is really useful. The information you get from this software is so detailed so you going to need an expert to help you understand the whole data. I’m not an expert, but I can still understand the huge amount of information and this helps me to improve my contents so they can suit my readers’ needs.

CONS: Now I understand why people pay someone to keep up with the analytics account, the data I receive is overwhelming. Also, I deal with some spams and it’s nightmare for those with huge amount of traffic on their sites. I believe that there are ways to filter the information but sometimes it’s in hindsight.

PROS: I am digital strategist and I work for a web development agency. We have clients who want to know the state of their site’s traffic and analytics. So we use Google Analytics software so we can gain information that is valuable for our clients. GA allows us to go back even to the creation of the website, other software allow to go back a month or a year. I am happy that we are able to deliver this kind of information to our client. Also, we are able to track the user’s flow of the website and we are able to see where they are landing and dropping off.

CONS: Google Analytics’ interface can be really confusing. It has so many tools, options and features and it takes so much time to find specific feature to use. It would be great if users can favorite or star some options/features he use daily.

PROS: I get huge amount of data from Google Analytics records. Once you learn how this software works, you will get an interface rich with information, reports and customizations. All these things (huge amount of data, views, customizations and reports) are for free. Because this product comes from Google, we constantly experience new updates, new products, new tools/options and features and what’s most important we are able to sync data sources. If you are beginner, don’t be afraid of the complexity of the system because you can always find online message boards with the answers of your questions.

CONS: What I don’t like about GA: I cannot apply filters and content groups retroactively, also we had to limit the number of rows to 5000 in order to export data to a CSV. This takes lot of time because requires manually work and joining CSV files so we can put all data in one place. I couldn’t export data to google sheet without using add-on. When I was beginner, I had many difficulties to learn the product, I wanted to use the system but I didn’t have an access to website data. It would be really helpful if they could add some sample data from a made-up website.
