What is Google Analytics?

Google Analytics is world’s most popular freemium web analytics service, used worldwide by thousands of companies. Since it was launched in 2005, Google Analytics has been imposing business intelligence standards, uniting a variety of premium analytical features both for traditional and mobile users. Focused on quality and functionality, Google Analytics works with a number of funnel visualization techniques, and summarizes data on high-level dashboards from where users can pull off various types of reports.

What makes this platform unique is that it works with so-called Google Analytics tracking codes, which load larger JavaScript files from the web server, and set variables for each of them. Once the user starts browsing his website, the code is automatically loaded and collects relevant data from the browser. The activation of the code will also send cookies to users’ devices in order to gather anonymous ClientID information, and examine the actions that a particular user is performing on the website.

As we mentioned before, Google Analytics is now available for mobile usage as well, and offers a specially developed Mobile Package with mobile site-ready tracking codes, including such that work with PHP, ASP.NET, Perl, or JavaScript Pages.

Last, but not least, Google Analytics offers a life-time free package for individuals, startups and small businesses, and moderate, quote-based pricing for enterprises. This flexible payment scheme makes the platform available for all interested businesses, regardless of their scale, industry, or financial potential.

Overview of Google Analytics Benefits

The website insights Google Analytics can provide are invaluable for the commercial success of any business, and there is a large list of satisfied users who can confirm it. It is because analyzing data covers the needs of every particular aspect of your workflow, from budget allocation to marketing optimization, and it is exactly analyzing what Google does best. In the world!

The benefits of Google Analytics are as many as to take us a day or two to list, so we will rather stick to the way in which this platform helps you understand visitors, examine the reasons why they visited your website, and most of all – precisely determine why they did or didn’t convert.

As we all know, the best way to do business is to base decisions on empirical data, and be at least 90% sure we’re not throwing money away. Google Analytics makes this possible in a variety of ways, mostly with its four Advanced Reporting areas. Thanks to it, you will get to know who your audience is, how did those people get to your website, what they did while exploring it, and finally – if they converted or not.

Once you have data carefully classified on your dashboard, you can start using it to optimize your marketing campaign, and devote time to activities that actually help your business. Another way to make use of the dashboard information is to perform an in-depth content analysis, and understand which elements on your website are not performing so well. The platform offers a specific Behavior and Conversions report where the reasons why your website is doing better/worse will become pretty self-obvious, saving the money you’d otherwise invest to examine the matter.

Finally, Google Analytics can help you allocate your budget in a smarter way, as it distinguishes functional practices from the dysfunctional ones. What is more, you get to run a specific budget increase/decrease report, and see by yourself how different investments are affecting your budgets, and calculate the exact percentage. At the end of the story, you’ll understand Google Analytics is an all-in-one ROI measurement tool, which unlike similar apps, arrives to results by analyzing ALL relevant factors.

Pros:
I like how it measures the engagement and conversion data. You can easily set up the dashboard and to start display the data that is most relevant for you. You can even choose the format of the reporting. You are allowed to customize the report so it can suit your needs.

Cons:
It takes some work for setting up the tool, also we experience some internal issue but I’m not sure whether this is GA fault or not. It would be great if they could add more modeling within the platform.

Pros:
What I like most about GA is the fact that I can use it for free. I get analytics on website data. It allows us to integrate it with AdWords and Webmaster Tools. I really like its dashboard, segmentation and attribution data.

Cons:
I constantly check the accuracy of the data. It requires filtering out bots because it increases the visitors and page view metrics. Because of the Google switch I always lose the keyword data. Also, I don’t like the sampling when it comes to customized reports. It would be great if they could add more insight into the user demographics so we can easily gather information about our audience. In addition, they could improve the visitor and goal flow as well.
