The app can enhance your productivity, while maintaining a portable and extensible environment.

Show MoreKnowing that businesses have their own business demands, it is prudent they avoid buying an all-in-one, ideal system. Regardless, it is nearly futile to discover such a software product even among popular software solutions. The practical step to do can be to set down the various vital factors that merit careful thought like critical features, budget, technical skill aptitude of staff, business size, etc. After which, you should follow through your product research thoroughly. Browse over these Mendix evaluations and look into the other software options in your shortlist more closely. Such all-encompassing product research ascertains you drop poorly fit software products and choose the system that provides all the tools your business requires for optimal results.
Position of Mendix in our main categories:
Mendix is one of the top 200 IT Management Software products
Mendix is one of the 50 Rapid Application Development Software - RAD products
It is important to realize that hardly any app in the IT Development Software category is an ideal solution that can fulfill all the needs of all company types, sizes and industries. It may be a good idea to read a few Mendix IT Development Software reviews first as certain software can perform well exclusively in a really small group of applications or be created with a very specific type of industry in mind. Others might work with an intention of being simple and intuitive and therefore lack complex functions desired by more experienced users. You can also come across software that focus on a broad group of users and provide a powerful feature toolbox, however that usually comes at a higher cost of such a software. Ensure you're aware of your requirements so that you get a solution that has all the features you look for.

PROS: Mendix gave me the opportunity to convert ideas into working prototypes at blistering speeds. It's great to show your ability to business stakeholder on working prototypes in a matter of hours instead of days, or days instead of weeks/months. When the app is launched and it comes to maintenance, its model-based development allows other people's "code" to be readable. If you're in need of added power, Java is a matter of clicks away. If you have know-how and you take yoru time, just about anything can be tweaked to your needs.
CONS: Its ease in creating a prototype can sometimes obscure the intricate aspects that come with new business process implementation in an app that's already deployed. With that in mind, that's more of a stakeholder management and Mendix marketing problem than a technical issue. Mendix makes it easy for re-factoring. They'll recommend suggestions on enhancing performance for an overgrown app.

PROS: I like how it gets things done in terms of development. The hassle involved in setting up a database from the beginning is no longer seen in here. Deployments are done on the fly. That means, I get to play around with the UI and UX --- where most value can be seen and felt. Debugging is simple and transparent.
CONS: At times, Medix can feel a bit constrained. There are some features that a user will have to request. I know for a fact that to carry out one of these features would very difficult via traditional development (if it's even possible). Very little work can be made in undoing certain out-of-the-box features offered by Mendix. Such changes are only required if you want further control how an app functions minus the the default settings.

PROS: First off, the platform's community culture is great. Second, its innovative approach throughout its SDLC indicates that business requirements are made with small process waist. This ranges from taking requirements in the system to one-click software cloud deployment. Last, but not leaset, the platform fosters an innovative pace.
CONS: The mooddler being used in developing requires the use of Windows. The web version, on the other hand, is on its way. It's still not determined whether or not the version has support for workflow logic in taking Microflows.
A great tool capable of making proof of concepts and so much more.

PROS: Mendix does an excellent job in kickstarting things off for you. It lets you dive into things shortly after. There's no need to have a background in development. It's great to no longer worry about a database setup. It's pre-installed debugging guides you to the root cause. It'll tell you which areas need to be fixed.
CONS: Medix is lacking certain features. These include e-mail integration and authentication. However, is mitigated by leveraging their very own app store as well as certain customized Java. While its default UX/UI themes can be worked on, it seems a bit bland. Being able to deliver a great experience entails a bit SASS/CSS styling background. You'll need to make a careful evaluation in the value of updating projects to the latest Modeler versions.
Development of prototypes has never been this speedy.

Ease of Use
PROS: We initially looked into Mendix to upgrade our current legacy apps in our company. We investigated a few vendor platforms and made a decision to stick with Mendix. The tool appears to be easy in terms of usage. It did a splendid job in increasing our time-to-market. With the platform, we're able to push our product out within one year.
CONS: The main problem we faced when utilizing the platform was mainly related to certain components within the UI and user interface. After talking to the Mendix team (as well as deploying our own enhancements), we realized the platform is consistently trying to improve. It does what it can to offer flexiblity and the kind of speed we were in need of.
