PROS: I like that Rational Application Developer contains a number of customization features and built-in custom library designed specifically to IBM. The implementation of Open JPA IBM is also perfect for WAS server. I also appreciate the help and support offered by its customer service team.
CONS: The platform has a limited system requirement, and it is almost impossible to operate it on devices that have 4GB RAM. When I launch the app, I need to close the others for it to work right. However, it runs smoothly on devices with higher memory.

PROS: Easy to use and lightweight project development platform, Rational Application Developer is a very helpful solution for Java JEE apps. It allows us to add Portal and WAS server in the same IDE so we can run the app. It lets us run multiple apps in local as the development process goes on.
CONS: I think this solution is a bit expensive than the others. Its plugins are also hard to install.

PROS: I like its user-interface and the variety of plugins that come with it. It gives us more and better options for whatever project we’re handling.
CONS: I just don’t like that I need to upgrade to another version to unlock more plugins.

PROS: We’ve been using this platform for years, and we like its usefulness in the business. With it, incorporating IBM centralized computer framework and IBM MQ framework with the system is quite seamless and easy. Out of the many solutions we’ve used before, this one is by far the greatest.
CONS: It has a steep learning curve. It took me a lot of time to understand how the server guidelines work, and its user interface is quite out-dated. Also, it has a high permit expense because it’s a commercial type of app server. If you want a smooth deployment and use of this platform, you need to spend extra effort and time understanding the features and functionalities that come with it.

PROS: RAD works as expected like in handling Javadoc, and its cleanup and code formatting tools are robust. It comes with complete features such as templates, code completion, integrations, and more. The quality assurance, development, and deployment of Web 2.0, portal, mobile, Java, Java EE, and SOA apps are much faster. Upon using the system, we’ve noticed that it’s quite responsive and intuitive, and this probably what makes this software the greatest app of all in the market today. This is a perfect solution to both seasoned and new developers out there.
CONS: Since this is a development tool, I think it would be better if they created books or offered actual tutorials to users like me who want to understand and master every feature. It’s just a little bit disappointing that you have to explore things on your own—navigate the app, take time, and discover everything without knowing if you’re doing the right thing or not.
