Siemens Teamcenter PLM Review

PROS: Great solution for supporting user and location growth. It offers multi-CAD support. It started with CAD but it grow into ECM, Manufacturing Data. There are great ERP integrations and Plant Simulation.

CONS: The UI is old-fashioned. The other thing that I don’t like is that BMIDE requires downtime and this can be challenging for global environment. It lack integration with Altium. In addition, they could improve the integration of CAD for non-Siemens tools.

PROS: Teamcenter provides lot of solutions Out of the box. It has master model concept, but they have separated the model and part like separate items. We are able to revise them independently.

CONS: It can be complicated to store drawings in Teamcenter. I found it hard to separate data set into two files. I don’t like that it is not possible to review the drawing and model in 2 various workflows. In addition, there is no possibility to have independent revisions of the model and drawing under model concept.

PROS: We use Teamcenter as PLM software for managing Engineering Design Data Lyfecycle. The tool can be easily integrated into multi-thread system environment. We are able to manage and store global data from one place. It offers customer-centric workflow and this means that we can easily customize it so it can meet our needs. There are lot of integrations for sharing and managing data.

CONS: I have some requests through GTAC. There is nothing to dislike about this product.

PROS: Teamcenter is user friendly product, it is easy to install and easy to use compare to other similar PLM software. I like how smooth this product is.

CONS: To be honest, customer handlers of the Workflow is time-consuming. It would be great if I could add it via BMIDE. Also, the administer is complicated. In addition, why they don’t implement integration with NX?

PROS: Teamcenter is open toolset that enforce some rules and you can customize it in order to fulfil your needs. It offers powerful data management capabilities. Like that there are lot of people who are available for the projects and who are skilled for running this product.

CONS: This tool is open source and it needs strong management in order to work perfectly. In my experience the deployment process is weakness and it needs some improvements. Also, the UI needs some modifications because it looks old-fashioned and it relies on JAVA.

PROS: Teamcenter offers great interface and lot of options for managing large assembly and change management. I like that it can be configured many times. You can customize the software so it can meet your needs. Data is secured for ITAR and IP compliance. You can also configure and view graphics. There is great integration with CAD software so you can easily manage CAD data.

CONS: It can be confusing for implementing. It requires lot of upfront work and not much inconsistency for the performance. You cannot use it out of the box. Also, there is always room for improvement.

PROS: Thanks to Teamcenter there is no need for code customization, the configuration is simple and this product makes everything perfect. The process of writing custom extensions in C or Java is understandable and robust. The New Active Workspace helps us with fringe users who are not included into the system. It offers simple Windows 8 like web-client.

CONS: The performance of the main client is not great when it comes to remote sites but on the other hand is still useful. We recently switched database systems because Oracle RAc on IBM systems it’s not supported. Teamcenter is made to run on engineering hardware. Taking the system down so we can implement some changes can be really frustrating.
