PROS: Terrific UI, and seamlessly integrates with our automatic test processes. TestRail helps us have better control and quality over each of our test cases. And it is also helpful for assisting our users while keeping quick response time.

CONS: We consume too much time for planning each project before releasing it. However, this is understandable because it is great to take some time for building the best products that users would love.

PROS: TestRail is a powerful platform that features a seamless interface and functional configurations. It helps produce detailed reports too.

CONS: We have found an error when we edit test cases especially those that are already on a test run. When we make updates after editing, the test case goes out from the test run; back to its initial location.

PROS: TestRail has a functional milestone feature that you can link with test runs or while planning, particularly when running a regression. This allows me to make test plans depending on every software or feature. In addition, it works smoothly with JIRA, which is great for tracking purposes in each project. This is helpful for all stakeholders to get accurate info from the projects.

CONS: The left pane of TestRail interface cannot be collapsed, which could have been better similar to its right area. This helps in making the UI look neat and organized since we can easily hide and unhide sections. It is also great so we only see one or a few tests at a time.

PROS: TestRail helps us put all of our new releases and features on multiple test runs; meaning, we can run them on various environments depending on what our team demands. It also allows enough customization for each test depending on our needs. Handling all users running every test is also easier, and I can keep them on the right track. Then, the platform lets me generate reports for quality assurance purposes, then I can easily download or send such outputs. And we haven’t experienced a major drawback since we have implemented TestRail to our automatic testing system, which means we efficiently handle all tests we do on a daily basis.

CONS: It is hard to find specific projects in TestRail because it doesn’t have a dependable search and filter feature. This pushes me to use webpage searching to find specific projects amid dozens of others in our database. Also, I’m eyeing the bug integration tool from TestRail to see if it has a convenient reporting capability for bugs and errors. Moreover, TestRail needs some boosts on its interface as well.

PROS: TestRail is reliable enough for managing a huge number of projects. We can run tests without problems, then upload or verify them as a team. We can check every test automatically, especially that TestRail tells us which test has passed, failed or hasn’t pushed through. Then, all data shows on reports that we can share.

CONS: We have noticed a problem when transferring test cases into a different folder. There are moments when test statuses questionably disappear.

PROS: TestRail is great in providing reports among other outputs that we can follow throughout test runs, so we can stay on track for each task. It also has handy milestones and easily integrates with other platforms. For example, we use TestRail with JIRA for detecting bugs in each test case, and we use it with Confluence for generating detailed documentation. Overall, it helps me manage each release throughout different test processes.

CONS: Creating test cases takes a lot of time, and the platform doesn’t import files that carry test cases generated by different tools. Generating and handling some functions are difficult when done with a team.

PROS: TestRail is really fantastic! First, it lets us make a specified test run for small-scale testing, which is suitable for our sophisticated processes. And second, it has a very convenient and dependable report feature. We find it very helpful in daily and weekly meetings, especially when we need to pass detailed information to our bosses.

CONS: Browsing from one area to another is a rough experience. Improving this would make TestRail seamless to use.

PROS: It allows you to customize projects such that you do not have to pay for projects that are not active. It helps you to save on the cost of running the tool in your system for project management and testing. For my case, the product was easy to use at first. I did not find the need to go through the tutorials to find out how certain features work or how to get around the tool. Due to integration with JIRA, we were able to connect with user stories and create cases out of them. You can view the status of the ticket from JIRA, test it and manage it until it is resolved. All the documentations of cases and tickets are generated by the tool. The customer support is top-notch.

CONS: Previously, I had problems with how long the text field at the dashboard for the test cases was. There are some test cases especially in the medical field which can have long texts. Luckily, the developer of TestRail has made this better with the latest upgrade which allows for side view opening of the test cases. In short, this drawback has been corrected for better viewing of the test fields.

PROS: Setting up and learning its function is a breeze, and we didn’t have any inconveniences when syncing it with other necessary tools. It is easy to configure to meet the needs of the entire company as well. Moreover, we can collaborate and do mass editing on the platform. Lastly, it is smooth to use because of its seamless interface, and we didn’t have to pay big for it.

CONS: We consume a lot of time when making test cases because the platform cannot import CSV files. Also, we cannot share test cases into different projects, and it is difficult to search for projects when we already have tons of them on the platform. Access authorization features should be improved, so different departments can be classified into proper permissions.

Published on: 28.09.2019 Company Size: 1-10 Employees Industry: Computer Software

PROS: We have been able to manage all operations and tasks that deal with test cases and runs. Our quality assurance team can run regression tests for projects without much hustle. With the TestRail product, our team can create test cases within a short period and monitor each ticket with ease. Each user can contribute by running those tests and adding their results for others to see. You can do just about anything from a single platform you share with other users. From ordering the test cases, to exporting the results to the admin or your superior, all this is possible.

CONS: TestRail has come off as a reliable testing solution for project managers. You can easily collaborate as a team and have your projects developed with ease while you address the defects with minimum efforts. However, there are things that need improving. For the case of sharing results, you can only share with registered users. It would be nice if you could do the same for unregistered users. It is not possible to have multiple filters for the results of the test runs, which is also a limiting factor. If there were no such limitation, it would make it easier for your superior to interpret or receive those results.

PROS: It helped us to increase visibility of the cases and runs we tested. The fact that you can test runs and cases, in different tabs, one at a time increases efficiency of the tool. We were able to keep everything in check with the quality assurance team. All documentations of past tests could be retrieved which offered a better view of the tests which were yet to be carried out. In short, it made our work easier as could trace everything and avoid repeating tests.

CONS: At first, it was difficult to get around the system in terms of how it works and the features in place. It has a learning curve if you have never used such a tool before. However, when you get the hang of things, everything is smooth and you can make the best use of the product for your tracking and testing roles. After we found our way around the features, it lived up to our expectations.

PROS: The developers of the product understand that we live in a world of many possibilities and that is why the latest version of TestRail offers better integrations with third party applications. It integrates with JIRA and Confluence among other applications to give you a near perfect test solution for your projects. It provides better automation that equips to with the ability to create test cases with ease. It accommodates the needs of a modern software developer or designer in full. When it comes to customer support, you can have access to their newsletters and are highly responsive to customer queries when put on call.

CONS: It is limited in some of the functionalities. When it comes to bulk editing, it does not offer it which means that you have to spend a lot of time editing fields on the system. However, you can customize the set up in way that you enable and disable features that you do not need in the process of test railing your projects. In the end, you will have a user interface which is unique to your organization and thus helpful. Although the TestRail product will have minor issues, you can find ways to overcome plus they have reliable customer support team.

PROS: It has made it easy to the quality assurance team to manage the tests and run them in an efficient manner. You can organize those tests and arrange them based on priority. It helps your team become more productive in the end as they can create and execute those tests based on the cases presented. Also, it integrates well with the JIRA plugin which allows you to create cases from the stories of the users and thus reliable. It complements the efforts of the quality assurance team by making their work easier.

CONS: The efforts of TestRail to improve quality assurance of a project come at a time when project managers need it the most. There are a few bugs that are only minor when you compare with what the tool can do. I did not find anything worth mentioning about what I dislike about the product. So far, I have only good things to say about.
