Transifex is a SaaS localization tool that allows companies to launch their product content in various languages efficiently. Designed and developed for teams with very fast development cycles, Transifex functions as a centralized location for your international content (strings, video subtitles, landing pages, etc.) and provides the environment for your translators.
With its RESTful API and Git-like command-line client, Transifex effectively simplifies the management of large volumes of content a snap while ensuring the localization remains a continuous process. It should be understood that Transifex does not perform any translation functions but gives users a reliable localization platform that can be used and access by their third-party translation agency, hired freelancing translators, or in-house translation professionals.
Show MoreLocalization is a core aspect for companies with international reach and presence. But it is also a difficult process as it entails sifting and reading through tons of documents, apps, videos, entire knowledge base and websites to determine which to determine what content should be translated. The process involves sending out content to your translators and then integrate their translations to your product.
It is a time-intensive endeavor that is prone to mistakes, therefore putting you in a pit of revision orders if even one error is spotted. For Transifex, localization needs not be a humongous task. With it’s cloud-based platform, Transifex hosts intuitive management interfaces, web-based translation editor, APIs, and integrated apps for developers allows you to centralized all your gathered data, automate workflows and reporting among our colleague, developers, your manager, and your translation services providers.
If you are still unconvinced how Transifex can help you turn localization from a nightmare into a walk in the park, then perhaps you should get in touch with its long list of international clients. Transifex users include top companies such as Deutsche Telekom, WooThemes, Mozilla, Vodafone, Eventbrite, and Waze to name some.
If you work in a fast paced team whose success relies heavily on the quick and accurate localization of your product content, then you just can’t go wrong with Transifex.
Show MoreKnowing that businesses have distinct business demands, it is only reasonable they avoid getting an all-in-one, ideal software product. At any rate, it would be hard to try to stumble on such a software product even among popular software products. The reasonable step to do can be to spell out the various important factors that require analysis like critical features, budget, technical skill aptitude of staff members, company size, etc. Then, you must perform your research exhaustively. Browse through these Transifex analyses and check out the other applications in your list in detail. Such all-encompassing research can make sure you avoid unfit apps and select the system which includes all the features your business requires.

If you are considering Transifex it might also be beneficial to analyze other subcategories of Translation Software listed in our base of SaaS software reviews.
Companies have different wants and requirements and no software application can be perfect in such a scenario. It is pointless to try to find an ideal off-the-shelf software app that fulfills all your business wants. The smart thing to do would be to modify the system for your specific needs, worker skill levels, budget, and other aspects. For these reasons, do not hasten and pay for well-publicized popular applications. Though these may be widely used, they may not be the ideal fit for your specific requirements. Do your homework, investigate each short-listed application in detail, read a few Transifex Translation Software reviews, call the seller for explanations, and finally select the app that presents what you want.

PROS: Very simple those who aren't as technically inclined. Interface is complete and minimalistic. It's an open source software that doesn't charge anything. It's a command line tool that has proven its usefulness in downloading translation for import in one's project.
CONS: I feel they need to have major enhancements for the command line. At times, the e-mail notification can be a nuisance. Sadly, there's a lack of filter for it.
The least favorable review
PROS: Transifex has been my go-to translation tool for over three years now and I will continue using it because of its intuitiveness. Since the beginning, I have seen that translators are fast and efficient. This is because they get help from numerous resources and translation guides, which are easily accessible from the editor.
CONS: The reporting and management modules need improvement to make the tasks related to them more efficient, because at the moment, they are time-consuming.

A great localization platform for software developers

Ease of Use
PROS: Transifex is a great localization platform for software developers and development teams. It is modeled after popular source code repositories like Github so it's not difficult to use. At the same time, it has editing features that translators can work with easily. It can be used as a standalone system for managing string catalogs along with ordinary documents or can be used with other systems.
CONS: Transifex is not really designed for managing document translation. If you do more content translation, it's probably not the ideal tool to use for that and you need to look elsewhere for that solution. It's built more for software localization, as it was designed by software developers in the first place.

PROS: Transifex is a huge company. And yet, they go out of their way to personalize the service and support they offer. Whenever I had questions or problems, they always did their best to answer and to provide a solution.
CONS: If there is anything I do not like, it would be the complicated permission configuration. Though we have an internal team, we also would like to use an external team for translations for whom we have to provide certain access. However, we have to put them all together in one team because of this limitation.

PROS: It is easy to navigate the platform--its user-friendliness is helping us work through our processes smoothly as well as manage our team efficiently. We also like that there are numerous features that we can benefit from.
CONS: There are times when the UI can be staggering because of the vast amount of features available.

PROS: The interface is user-friendly and there is a ton of tools that help me manage multiple strings at a time. Our workflow has also been enhanced by the filtering capability of the app.
CONS: Configuring Transifex for the first time was a difficult process so we were forced to have a workaround so we could do our tasks during the time. It would be great if they include the image upload capability to the standard option, even if they have to limit the file size, and not exclusive to advanced. Moreover, I would like it if I have more control over the notifications I receive.

PROS: Our team has many projects and Transifex makes it easy for us to oversee them because of its organization tools. It offers supreme visibility that allows us to track which contents or resources are being worked on and when they are ready to go live. It also helps that it has a highly navigable UI wherein we can find features such as translation memory, history, glossary, suggestions, and others that help us make our translations consistent. It works well for us too that Transifex enables the addition of our own style guides, glossaries, and instructions. Moreover, Transifex has a great reporting module that lets us track the performance of translators so that we can see where we need to invest more or cut back. Lastly, we commend the support team that is always ready to answer questions and resolve issues.
CONS: It would help if Transifex integrates a spellchecking tool. However, according to their development team, they are already working on implementing this. Transifex could also improve the collaboration between translators, QA specialists, and translation managers. It already has a commenting tool but it would be great if there is a chat tool present within the interface.
Support has a personalized and caring approach.

PROS: We had issues when dealing with the Transifex-to-Zendesk translation vendor integration. In such scenario, Transifex did all the hand holdingto help tackle down the isuses. They helped me communicate with other vendors. They did what they could in seeking proper solutions when a current solution is absent or not available.
CONS: It's obvious that there are some kinks that needs resolving. Everyone in the software world knows and are aware of this.
A comprehensive translation app that covers even lesser-known languages and dialects

PROS: Our company has iOS and Android apps and we use Transifex to localize the contents in both apps. Since we have niche audiences, it is advantageous for us that the app can support even the rarest dialects. We do not even have to worry about doing things manually when transferring content. So far, we have 17 languages and we are planning to add more soon.
CONS: Transifex may include languages in their list that their partners do not support. But they find a way to work with them as long as you contact them and let them know of your needs. In fact, we requested that they add two languages and they did.

PROS: Our website is hosted by WordPress and we like how Transifex can integrate with that platform, making it easier for us to upload the localized content. Though our translators are still fumbling around the live editing function of the app, other areas are proceeding smoothly. Even our developers enjoy the integration with Github because it streamlines the push of strings with just a few code lines.
CONS: String-level segmentation is not as efficient as we want it to be. It would be nice if Transifex adds the sentence-level segmentation in the future. And I would like to offer another suggestion: Transifex can make the quality assessment flow more comprehensive because it cannot detect extra spaces well.

PROS: Transifex is a customizable solution that lets us configure our workflows. With that, we can be sure that we are dealing with projects in the best ways possible for us to finish them on time without sacrificing quality. It even integrates well into our existing digital ecosystem. More than that, we can rely on customer support at any time.
CONS: Transifex has helped solve our localization problems! Any issue or problem we brought up with them got resolved pretty quickly too. And everytime there is a product update, we could see that they listened to us because we could see our suggestions.

PROS: The best thing about Transifex is its support for a wide array of documents for uploading to the system. Aside from that, their support team is also commendable because they are always prompt in their replies to queries. They make sure that they resolve our issues well before closing our tickets and they do that quickly too.
CONS: Training time for our translators was long because they had difficulties navigating the app. However, once they finished the entire translation and synchronization processes, they already knew how to move around the platform without assistance. Lately, I have noticed that Transifex pages are slow to load. This is especially noticeable when I am deleting a file and it can be quite annoying. Also, the loading bar stops at 50% then vanishes once the action is completed.

PROS: The first thing I like about Transifex is how user-friendly it is. I do not have to worry about losing files because it saves changes automatically. It even eases collaboration because of its support for comments on translated terms that allow others to improve the sentence or paragraph.
CONS: The only problem I have with Transifex is that it reads symbols like apostrophes as part of a code.

PROS: Transifex acts like Github, only that it is geared towards translations. Using the integration capabilities of this tool, we are able to receive translations, up to 30 languages, of our app using the solution's marketplace in as fast as two days. Without it, we may not be as efficient in putting up the localized content on our app.
CONS: I do not have anything I don't like about Transifex. There have been so many changes over the years, such as in the interface design, that make our work easier.

PROS: Transifex happens to be an excellent localization softare for both software devs and dev teams. It's made similarly to known source code repositories such as Github. But what's good about it is its editing capabilities that makes it seamless for translators to function. As a standalone software it effectively manages catalogs with plain docs.
CONS: Transifex isn't made for document translation management. If your main aim is set on translating content, then it's not a recommended tool to use. The sweet aspect of it is its software localization. It's made by software devs so it can be utilize in sofware development.
Its navigation is too wonky to be put to good use.

PROS: They were able to carry out a branding change. That change involved alterin the color scheme of the site. Other elements were dealt with too. This made it more visually appealing.
CONS: For so many years now, exploring languages and projects is still a pain to deal with. Apparently, they're still confusing to do. After logging through a specific projec page, you won't be taken back to the page you were originally in. Instead, you're carried over to the dashboard where you're tasked to search for the project needed.

PROS: Transifex contains a wide range of functionality that makes it impossubel for us to live without. The API and its client has been great. We were able to have our CI system set up to have new strings uploaded automatically for translation and getting translations downloaded for each patch and release. The translations memory is an A+.
CONS: Team management UI and community building could use some enhancements. The same goes for its messaging and management tools. They're actually capable of getting the job done. Although they're not as great when you're in need of utilizing them when you need them most.
