What is UltraEdit?
UltraEdit is designed for different types of users such as web developers, database managers, system administrators, technical writers, editors, publishers, medical practitioners, and researchers; and functions primarily as a disk-based commercial text editor that supports Microsoft Windows, OS X, and Linux but the software offers powerful web development tools for programmers.
This code and text editor is known for its capability to support almost all programming language and it easily handles huge files in excess of 4 gigabytes. Because of its comprehensive customization options, intuitive layout, coherent internal organization; UltraEdit functions also as a hex editor and a web design software. Described as a versatile web development tool and text editor, it can be customized for any web environment without using other third party software, hence, making text editing and web designing cost-effective and easier to apply.
Overview of UltraEdit Benefits
One of UltraEdit’s strong features is its programming and web development functionality. The software has a hideable and dockable function list wherein users can see all the functions in a source file through a tree structure view dividing them into subgroups such as parameters, variables, and properties. Its XML and JSON Managers show parsed tree-style view of XML nodes and data and JSON objects and value pairs. Furthermore, users can also hover over CSS color to get a preview of color. With these capabilities, users can comfortably execute their web design tasks.
Another feature of UltraEdit is its text editing functionality. This text editing tool supports multi-caret editing and multi selection. With this feature, users can set up multiple carets allowing them to do the editing in multiple locations at once. They can also create multiple non-contiguous lines that they can cut, copy, and paste at once. Its file tabs also allows user to switch from one open file to another. This feature makes text editing convenient since users can quickly access selections and work on multiple lines with ease.
UltraEdit also has a hex editing feature by which users can directly configure hex bytes when the hex mode is activated. When editing and manipulating hex data, users are provided with all copy, cut and paste functionalities so users can easily copy a hex view of text to clipboard. Hex editing is very important in creating web layout and design and miscalculations can result to failed projects but with the aid of this feature, users will be able to produce precise output providing them more opportunities to enhance it.

Pros: I like how UltraEdit is a lot simpler to utilize with Linux. It's able to integrate with UltraCompare in a seamless manner. I like being able to make macros and customizing a certain layout. It functions smoothly with its search-and-replace functionality. UI is speedy.
Cons: I like its file accessiblity and automatic backup. I may end up dwelling deeper in Linux-specific programming. But nevertheless, this version functions incredibly well. The Edit functionality comes with a lot of useful utilities. It's smooth in commenting/uncommenting one whole block.

Pros: UltraEdit is great to develop and code in a wide rage of programming languages. Its Window layout is the best. You get to see all files you're editing simultaneously. A multi-line cursor enables you to pick varying lines at different position with one cursor. I'm able to program a number of languages with it.
Cons: The thing that I don't favor is how slow it can be when editing a number of files. I'm required to seek out words/expressions. Seeking within files requires enhancements. It's confusing since it worked in the older version. Hopefully this can be fixed in the next update rollout.
