WestHost is a web hosting service that targets business users. It offers affordable shared hosting, cloud hosting, and dedicated servers to cater to the needs of professional users.
WestHost was founded in 1998 and was bought by UK2 Group in 2008. Its headquarters is in Providence, UT. The company says about 50% of its employees are multi-lingual, and a good number have more than five years of experience in the IT industry.
WestHost provides a 99.9% uptime guarantee on shared hosting and dedicated hosting plans. Shared hosting customers get backups for free, but backups are charged extra on dedicated servers. Dedicated server customers get credits in case of a network outage.
VPS and cloud customers’ data is backed up weekly and monthly. WestHost urges users to create their own backups in between. The company does not offer any uptime promise for VPS and cloud hosting services.
WestHost uses a Tier-3 data center in Salt Lake City, UT. The host utilizes on-site staff, redundant power, cold row cooling, video surveillance, and smoke detection facilities to ensure data security.

PROS: Their email system works most of the time. Their control page works (but is poorly documented).
CONS: 1. Customer support is a joke. The people who work there seem to churn out responses that are both late and also uninformative. 2. They drop inbound email son the floor (rather than delivering them to a Spam folder) and they do NOT inform you when they have done. I have had many many emails that I did want delivered dropped in such a manner. When pressed for reasons why they do this, they wave their hands and announce it's for "security"; oddly, I have taken to having emails sent both through Westhost and Google...and Google delivers those emails without any security repercussions.
