Blackboard is a system that offers businesses and educators the capability to reach and teach their employees or learners via a virtual environment. This web-based software provides a course management system, customizable open architecture, and scalable design that empower users to integrate the application with student information system and authentication processes. The main aim behind Blackboard is to create and deliver online courses and learning effectively to recipients with few or no face-to-face meetings.
Blackboard provides four specific modules to target four different target learner demographics: K-12, Higher Education. Government, and Business. You can easily integrate it with a variety of business systems and applications, including Pearson LearningStudio, BrainHoney, itsLearning, Epsilen, Moodle Learning Management System, Sakai Collaborative and Learning Environment, and other tools. On top of that, the system is quote-based, meaning that you will only pay for what you genuinely need.
Show MoreBlackboard Learning Management System offers a variety of distinctive benefits for learners and students. To start with, they gain immediate and streamlined access to all of its features, and work navigating an intuitive and reminiscent of social networks, that is even compatible with their devices. Basically, Blackboard can be used on all types of smartphones and tablets.
With Blackboard, it will be easy to regain compete control on all learning activities taking place in the organization, as the system also offers a great collaboration suite to keep learners connected. If you’re an educator, on the other hand, Blackboard will ensure that you have a variety of methods to improve students’ and learners’ engagement, and motivate them to use their maximal potential.
Blackboard can also be applied to enhance competitiveness and professional development in corporate environments, thanks to the fact it blends learning and real time support in a single product. As we mentioned before, there is a variety of useful integrations with third-party learning management systems and applications (and other type of business software) to ensure that data will flow seamlessly, and that manual entry will be absolutely restricted. Other distinctive features include: Student previews, SafeAssign, Data Management, Collaborative Integrations, Calendars, and much more.
Extensions that help expand Blackboard’s capacity are also available for corporate users, covering all types of additional functionality. Show MoreBecause businesses have distinct business-related needs, it is rational they avoid subscribing to a one-size-fits-all, ideal business application. Regardless, it would be almost impossible to try to find such an app even among branded software products. The rational thing to undertake can be to tabulate the varied chief aspects which require careful thought such as critical features, pricing, technical skill levels of staff, organizational size, etc. After which, you should conduct the research comprehensively. Go over some Blackboard evaluations and look into each of the applications in your shortlist more closely. Such well-rounded research ensure you avoid unfit applications and choose the system which includes all the function your company requires to be successful.
Position of Blackboard in our main categories:
Blackboard is one of the top 20 Learning Management Systems (LMS) products
Organizations have different needs and requirements and no software application can be perfect in such a situation. It is pointless to try to find a perfect out-of-the-box software app that fulfills all your business needs. The intelligent thing to do would be to adapt the solution for your special needs, staff member skill levels, finances, and other factors. For these reasons, do not hurry and pay for well-publicized trendy solutions. Though these may be widely used, they may not be the ideal fit for your unique requirements. Do your research, check out each short-listed platform in detail, read a few Blackboard Learning Management Systems (LMS) reviews, speak to the vendor for explanations, and finally select the application that presents what you need.

PROS: Blackboard can be used in a number of ways. Personally, I love having the ablity to send in homework. I like make quizzes through that program. I like how the program is able to get everything you want in one place for every class.
CONS: I'm pretty sure they're doing the best they can in removing the glitches. Thing is, the system has a tendency to go down when it comes to updates. I don't like how the system would be sensitive from time to time if you end up clicking off on an assessement by accident. The same goes when internet connectivity is lose sice you'll end up re-doing the test (if you're in the middle of it).

PROS: Blackboard makes it possible for students to be updated with their current course requirements. It's an ideal approach in downloading lectures, participating in online tests/quizzes, taking part in discussions, and sending in homework. It also lets a student see the work they've handed over. At the same time, it lets them see their current grade.
CONS: Like that of other tools, not all features found within Blackboard software interface are used in every course. Since the lecturer is capable of customizing their course/landing page, it takes a bit of an adjustment when browsing through a wide range of courses. The homepage has a tendency to get cluttered. That would make it even more nice if tools, announcements, and other things are hidden.

PROS: Blackboards stands for well-planned and well-executed software, offering a breathtaking first encounter with smartly organized tabs, sections, and folders. You open it, and there is a 'Wow!'. How did they manage to organize it in a way that takes you wherever you want in just few seconds? Once in, the software simply welcomes you to create personal e-courses, taking care of consistency and visual appearance long before you do it. Best of all, it is not a loner's haven-you get to discuss every issue, and to base learning on communication.
CONS: It might be my inexperience speaking, but I think the gradebook is cumbersome. There are plenty of features inside that I don't understand, or at least have an issue seeing them in a consistent way. What frustrates me even more with this platform is that it is not integrated with Google Docs, and that's quite important for a district using it through its personal domain. You'll probably agree that they went too far with the price of 7.0, I can only imagine how many teachers gave up using Blackboard because of it.
A great approach to interacting with classes.

PROS: The UI of Blackboard is simple to utilize. It's essentially standard from one institution to the next. The layout is very simple and on-point for studnets. Meanwhile, the customization tools makes it straightforward for admins and teachers.
CONS: The discussion boards functionality could use some tweaks. IE and Microsoft Edge (its successor) won't play out well with the editing tools available. It would frequent showcase incorrect words as being "misseplled." It would make it difficult to repair from the users end.

PROS: I am one very satisified student who will memorize some precious school moments related to Blackboard. I used to look at it as my personal assistant, because it kept me informed wherever I was. I used to follow even classes I was not assigned to, and got hands on all materials attached in the base. The coolest thing was to have an iphone app-I even remember taking tests and quizzes from my phone (quite successfully!). Customer support is also incomparable, they evoke this type of confidence when you want to ask something you know, because you think they know something more. They were always so friendly!
CONS: Nothing is perfect, but with this amazing set of features, every drawback can be overcame. I'm not gonna wirte stories about something that didn't affect my studying that much, I'm just going to mention few inconsistencies: the mobile version is not as good as the desktop one, with issues that simply can't be scrolled down. Notification is accurate, but not that user-friendly (in order to remove a notification, you have to click multiple times, or even to log in and to see some of them, otherwise they'll pile on your homescreen and they will occupy space).

PROS: My top choice would be announcements, transparent grading, open discussions, safe enrollment with SafeAssign, automated tests, and easy navigation. I could continue with this list, but I'm afraid it is going to sound like a product description written by a biased vendor (if it didn't so far). I see that the developers paid attention to appearance too - BB can boast with excellent design, which is not something many systems can do.
CONS: The dislikes are rather external, arising when you're using the system with third party sotware. What I have in mind here is YouTube compatibility, which I dislike because it doesn't always work. Turnitin didn't blow me away either, I'm still checking plagiarism off the system. Had you really decided to look for the devil in the detailes, you'd come across some grading issues too. It doesn't mean the world to functionality, but attaching documents while grading is neither easy nor useful (how about posting it on the discussion board instead?).

PROS: We feel nothing but gratitude towards the Blackboard team, because they produced this marvelous software to deal with the needs of our education programs. We are a college with roughly 80 students, and we were looking for a product that will improve their overall experience of studying here. I think that the most considerable advantage to using Blackboard is relying on their customer support, even if we contacted them just a couple of times during the last 5 years.
CONS: Pluses are more than minuses, but you need an overview on drawbacks before you purchase it. Count that the moible platform is not amazingly integrated (I guess coding went wrong), and that affects both speed and quality. The worst scenario is trying to download content on a mobile device. The second drawback I'd like you to pay attention to is that bad connection can have devastating effects. However, I can justify everything because I know how hard they're working to make it better, knowing at the same time that this is a small discomfort compared to the general quality of the product. Balckboard is definitely not one of those programs that fail to work half of the time.

PROS: The strongest side of Blackboard is diversity, meaning that registered users can attend and organize multiple classes. Accounts leave just enough room to customize personal blogs, folders, or wikis, and to organzie files in the preferred way. At the same time, you have your own document database, and you can download other users' files (even audio, video, or a link to 3rd party content). Voice Thread is also an option.
CONS: Blackboard is more robust compared to similar LMSs, but what doesn’t make sense is the dificulty of using its features. Nothing is intuitive as it should be, and it often happens for important functions to be lost in that mess. Teachers are usually trained to use it, but students take much more time. It is just scary for them at the beginning.
A very robust program for teaching and learning. Comes with veteran LMS.

PROS: Blackboard is a learning management software that's highly established. It has a long line of committment in lerning and teaching. Its LMS provides a wide range of functionality. It's perfetc for offering support for personalized learning as well as delivery of assessment, content, and communication.
CONS: Its UI is beginning to age over time. At times, it would take additional clicks just to finish a task. Data can't be constantly accessed unless the right tools are available either to query or a license for extraction. Just recently, roadmap presentations are actually showcasing some developments that look promising.

PROS: These are my favorite features: Firstly, uploading essays is great, and you receive feedback very fast, without having to wait to go to school and to check it. Secondly, we're being notified on every update or uploaded document, and that makes it easy not to miss assignments. Thridly, the platform is secure, reliable, and fails once in a blue moon.
CONS: I also have few dislikes: Even if being notified, I can't always understand where documents are located, so I can't say I'm the fastes student to complete my assignments. Then, there is much to dislike about refreshing, the speed literally plays with my nerves. Finally, a remark to the school: If you implemented a project that allows you to deal with multiple assignments in a timely manner, make use of it. There is only one professor that is actually using it, everybody else is trying to skip the workload.

PROS: The interface is clean and user-friendly, and it makes you want to use it from the very first encounter. I'm positive that they did an extensive research prior to creating it, because it wouldn't have been this accurately loaded with features otherwise. It is made to suit students and teachers, with minimal difference in accessibility and comprehensiveness.
CONS: I've noticed bugs here and there, and I think that certain features are too basic. One could even describe the interface as archaic, meaning that it got stuck somewhere on its way towards modernisation. I wouldn't go as far as calling it outdated, because I know that simpler stuff are easier to use. This way, even tech savvy teachers get hands around customization, and that is worth of every respect. It leads to 100% productivity, so the fact that brainy techies are bored while using it is not a justification to change it.
A great learning management platform.

PROS: I happen to like it and not like it, but I think the first one more. I mean, one has to be grateful for full feature-coverage even when some features prove to be imperfect. I didn't expect rocket science (unlike some colleagues whose reviews I read), so I am not going to complain too much. OK, so the pro package: You will enjoy a diverse digital environment that does stuff your way; You'll assign tasks in a productive way; You will grade online. Outside these, everything can be a challenge. I was comparing BB to software I used before (TWEN and DesireToLearn) and the final result leaned in favor of the first.
CONS: I could say many stuff here, but don't worry, I'm not going to bother you with details that don't make any diference to your experience. One thing you must rely on is clarity, and I wouldn't give Blackboard a leading role here. Their features have cryptic names, and while this is good for copyright purposes, it doesn't give them the right to confuse users with fancy names for simple operations. We don't have enough time to adopt new vocabulary folks, we're working! And unless you want us to perceive your headings as unrecognized processes, change them!

PROS: Blackboard connects plenty of information with plenty of users, that's how it became so popular. The way how it is organized is understandable for everybody, and I know that most teachers rely on navigation 100% to accomplish their tasks. Besides, it is not just about storing data. It is about storing data and keeping it in cloud forever.
CONS: First and foremost, formatting will not be the best one you've seen. Discussion boards are so complicated that even simplest tasks as 'Reply to everyone' turn into challenging struggles against the world and against technology. Newcomers are usualy 'welcomed' like this, in case they're not already terrified by amount of information that is being presented to them. Improvement is good, we all know that, but I sometimes think they are competing against the natural capacity of human brain to adopt information. They give you a new feature, and right when you put 2 and 2 together, they change the basics and shut the website for annoying maintenance. I like them, don't get me wrong, but they know the art of exaggerating. I like them even when they let me hanging for hours, but don't come up with a solution for my problems. I guess that's how our busy digital world works.

PROS: Blackboard makes sharing information simple, because all documents and announcements are on the website, and every user can download them on time. Additionally, I've never been this aware of my progress, since Blackboard allows me to calculate grades in advance, or at least to understand what I've been doing wrong. Miscommunication is minimal, both in cases of teachers and students, and I think this is why the entire college is about to implement Blackboard.
CONS: Not every teacher is using Blackboard, and even the ones that do are somehow reluctant to use allof its features. For instance, there are subject where the teacher sends materials and checks assignments online, but grades in classroom instead. As for my own experience, I could use a simple procedure to access or upload files. Right now, it takes so many clicks that I am actually considering skipping.

PROS: Uploading essays and receiving feedback is a cinch. It's fantastic in carrying out its basic functionality. We get to see notifications as well as course details in a convenient manner. Runs on a fairly stable and dependable system.
CONS: At times, it's not precise and simple in finding the things I need. Getting pages refreshed can be a crawl. I'd have to wait for several seconds each and every single time. Only a professior can utilize it since it requires submitting a lot of assignments to him and grading them as quickly as possible.

PROS: Blackboard is really simple to navigate and utilize. I make use of it in university and for looking into docs offered by tutors and instructors. Docs are really organized well. They can easily be accessed and are downloadable.
CONS: One primary problem with Blackboard is that it can be discouragingly slow in loading new pages or opening up new docs. While this happens occassionally, I tend to observe it happening in larger docs. One bothersome functionality is that, at times, whenever an alert comes up, it won't always disappear after it's been looked into.

PROS: Blackboard does its job well in managing and planning out a course. It ensures all tools and files of your students are available when needed. It's an awesome course for teaching each semester. It can also be utilizied in teaching a nunber of sections under a single semester.
CONS: Its grade center can be pretty clunky. It could be more user-friendly. It's a bit frustrating for me to not being able to re-arrange assignments in the order of my preference. There are numerous pre-determined orders to pick alhough that's not always a good thing to do.

PROS: Very reliable. It has all the features that I want. A lot of functionality to help expand my options. While the Wiki tool appears to be novel, not a single student was asked to make use of it by other professors. It's difficult to setting up groups.
CONS: It has so mamy functionality. And a lot of them come with cryptic names. I know that it's for copyright reasons to have fancy names in play. If it's actually a functionality in Bb's own platform, does it really have to be in that manner for every name of each functionality? Due to this, I ended up ignoring the things that aren't familiar to me.
