What is Desklog?

Desklog is an employee monitoring and project management solution designed to improve total productivity. The app is ideal for businesses of all sizes in need of a tool that can assist in remote working.

You can create unlimited tasks and projects in Desklog. The app can also monitor employees’ computer screens and take automatic screenshots. Desklog has an attendance tracker and idle time tracking feature that can detect how much time individual employees spent working and not working.

There is also an activity tracker, URL tracker, and app tracker that lets you know which applications employees often use and which sites they frequent. All this data is stored in the app and you can access it in the data history. These features will help you measure the real productivity of your team.

Track employee productivity

Desklog has time tracking tools that help calculate an employee’s total productivity. Desklog has an attendance tracker to document the working days of employees. Leave times, off times, and absences are also taken into consideration. This will also make it easier to calculate payroll. The total time is recorded as Time at Work and it is further divided into Productive and Non-Productive or Neutral Time. Idle time tracking to calculate their time away from the computer. This helps you measure real-time productivity.

Desklog can also monitor screens in real time and can take automatic screenshots of the working window.

Finish projects on time

Desklog has a custom workflow that can help you create and finish project deliverables on time. You can add unlimited projects and assign unlimited tasks. It has other project management tools such as task organization and project time tracking. These help you avoid bottleneck situations and boost overall team productivity. All these features are also customizable depending on your company’s standards.

Reports and data history

Desklog’s dashboard shows all the data history that the app has recorded and shows them through summarized reports. You can manage attendance and view workdays attended, late arrivals, and leaves taken. Under the productivity report, you can see the total productive time and idle times represented in a pie chart. Desklog also has document title tracking that lets you check the time they spent either viewing or editing a document.  Since Desklog has app tracking, you can see how much an employee spends on different apps through a productivity graph. PROS: I have been using Desklog for the past few months, the best things which I found very helpful are the inbuilt project management features where you need not invest separately on project management software. Moreover, the features like the automated screenshot, URL /App tracking, time tracking helped me track the daily project activities, and exact productive time.

CONS: Try To Enable Auto Refresh For User Home Page I feel an auto-refresh can be implemented on the user home page as I need to refresh in between my work each time to view the productive time especially when the user dashboard is kept open. This would save time from refreshing the window each time.

PROS: Insightful Daily/ Weekly/ Monthly Attendance Reports I found it very easy to track my team attendance with daily, monthly, weekly attendance reports. From the daily report, it is easy to track whether any team member arrived late or early and also how much time early or late the team member arrived.

CONS: Go For Customized Idle Time Interval Settings Instead Of Predefined When I started using Desklog 6 months before the idle time interval was fixed around 3min for all users. It is good to know that now there is a range of predefined time intervals in the idle time interval settings but I still recommend that it will be good to have a customized one so that we can fix our own idle time intervals for our team members.

PROS: We all take break time or go idle during our working hours but with this work timeline feature, it helped me to understand my own working style like how often I take a break or go idle, etc. This helped me personally to improve my work productivity.

CONS: It provides option to download important screenshots. Though we can save each screenshot as an image I feel it would be better if there is a download option to download the required confidential screenshots captured to a single file so that we can easily use it for any future reference.
