GitHub Position In Our Categories

Since companies have specific business demands, it is only rational they steer clear of getting an all-encompassing, ideal business application. Needless to say, it would be hard to stumble on such an app even among popular software systems. The best step to do should be to list the numerous chief aspects which necessitate deliberation like important features, plans, technical skill levels of the users, organizational size, etc. Then, you must follow through the product research fully. Read some GitHub analyses and scrutinize the other software programs in your shortlist more closely. Such well-rounded product research ensures you weed out unfit software products and pay for the system which meets all the benefits your company requires.

Position of GitHub in our main categories:

TOP 20

GitHub is one of the top 20 IT Management Software products

TOP 3

GitHub is one of the 3 Rapid Application Development Software - RAD products

TOP 5

GitHub is one of the top 5 Version Control Systems products

GitHub is also listed in the following subcategories:

Organizations have diverse needs and requirements and no software application can be just right in such a scenario. It is pointless to try to find a perfect out-of-the-box software system that meets all your business needs. The wise thing to do would be to modify the system for your special requirements, worker skill levels, finances, and other factors. For these reasons, do not rush and subscribe to well-publicized trendy systems. Though these may be widely used, they may not be the best fit for your unique wants. Do your groundwork, check out each short-listed system in detail, read a few GitHub Rapid Application Development Software - RAD reviews, call the seller for clarifications, and finally settle for the application that provides what you need.

PROS: Its UI is user-friendly for those who are non-technical even for a tech-heavy platform. In addition, the interface makes diffs simple to grok visually. Its tracker is lightweight and has the right mix of technical material. It has the flexibility to get it to work your way.

CONS: Time and again, GitHub will shut down or slow down to a crawl. At times, I'd have to compete just to achieve a never-ending set of green squares (and it drives me nuts). Having improved access controls would've been nice. Also organizing repos would be a plus since it's difficult to seek out repos when you've got lots especially in a bigger organization.

PROS: I like that I can easily share codes with all my team members. This is also great tool for QA’ing and for fixing bugs. There is great integration with other Git clients so you can take full control of the whole process. There are lot of built-in quality control features. It allows you to pull requests force team members so you can double check the work that is submitted. The other good thing is that the Markdown system allows total customization for the documentation. Additionally, the user-management system is useful and the team knows who made the changes and when. With the in-built version control we know that the code is backed up and it can be reverted if there is a need.

CONS: The UI is somewhat confusing for new users and there are lot of options and features within the program and this makes the UI overwhelming and confusing. When you fill a repository with code the whole thing looks like giant wall of text. Also, GitHub’s markdown code are different from the usual markdown code and you may run into some bugs.

PROS: I use GitHub dail since it saves and keeps my projects organized.

CONS: It's hard to spot anything negative about GitHub. It's been in my system for the past several years now and I'm always looking forward to its new features. It's an ideal hosting platform for open source projects. But the issue here is the increasing number of projects that couldn't be maintained anymore (although GitHub isn't to blame). Pricing may be a bit steep for some.

PROS: It's an astounding Git repository management platform. It's a flawless system with an excellent issue tracking structure. While it may not be their primary goal, it gives teams a chance to work together and create software from just about anywhere. I use it when working remotely.

CONS: I've yet to run into anything that I don't like. Aside from their pricing, their private repositories are a bit steep especially for devs seeking to put out more of their projects.

PROS: I’ve been using GitHub for so long and there are lot of things that I like about this tool like its simplicity, fast UI, wonderful community and lot of people to collaborate with on open source projects. With GH’s gist we are able to easily keep and share bits of code with this software. I simply love the integrations and webhooks that this tool offers. We are able to take a look between branches, commits, to pull requests, to rename projects/username/company name or to delete them. There is a code search engine and project forking as well.

CONS: What I don’t like is the fact that it doesn’t offer free private repositories, they could keep it free for small number of team members.

PROS: If you are working on Open Source projects then you should try GitHub because it offers everything you need. I like that it’s powered by Git and you can switch to any other system if you want to all you have to do is to add a new remote and push. In addition, the service is free but if you want to use it as internal code then you have to pay for it. And last but not least, there are huge amount of integrations, you’ll get notifications in Slack, get project management planning with Waffle and many other things.

CONS: It would be great if you already have some experience with Git and you could ask for help from other people who already work with GitHub.

PROS: GitHub can easily pull in requests and is very easy to sue. It's a must-have for a distributed group. Internet-based diffs have been a big help. The platform is also intergrated in almost every major dev ops product. By using it, you have a drop-in integration for looking into CI and hosting tools in the market.

CONS: There's nothing to not like about GitHub. The only issue I encountered was the time when Heroku used GitHub to take down the recent server buuild pack for each code update. GitHub has been down quite a few times and for each time, it made it a little difficult to push updates to my web app as Herokus depends a lot on the platform. It's rare for GitHub to go down, but it happens once in awhile.

PROS: One of the best things I like about GitHub is the open source platform. This tool is for almost everyone, it doesn’t require coding-skills at all, and all you have to do is to get into the GitHub repo and to participate in some other ways. As a writer you may contribute to Wiki or other documentation. I have made similar contributions in the past by making some simple changes to HTML file.

CONS: I would like to track specific aspects of GitHub repository instead of all conversations. Also, I’d like to see an option to follow non-tech discussions but I’m not really sure how they can make this happen. In addition, I’m not sure if this is available but it would be great if they could include mailing list option.

PROS: You can take out a code from others in a single click. Then you can hack into it and make enhancements. Then you can have it sent back, discuss what needs to b done, or simply create a better version of it on your own. Its network tree is an awesome functionality. You get to see each fork version, observe changes made, and picking the main version for usage or a version to use against.

CONS: You don't have the option seek code on forks. It's supposed to work in terms of documentation, but sadly, it doesn't.

PROS: I love all of GitHubs features. Not to mention their issue tracking and authorization functionality. They also offer free repo. We're able to create a static via gist and do web hosting through our own domain. GitHub is straightforward and simple to use.

CONS: GitHb is only restricted to having up to 5 private repos. I'm probably one of thew paid users who uses their repo while others have resorted with Bitbucket. There have been instances were we faced issues with their channel. If the platform somehow offers channel integration for ticket formation, that would be a sight to see.

CONS: I don't find their initial page favorable. But it's very useful for people who are following other people. Once you're able to fork a project, it becomes a bit of challenge to keep it updated. I know there are plenty of things involved in the process as well as relying on the platform, but they should make it easier to keep a fork updated.

CONS: I was hoping it would have a bit more in terms of functionality for organizing tickets/work in its repositories. Its Waffle.IO functions well but it'll ask you to utilize a couple systems for workflow management. It'd be a nice idea to have additional support for Mercurial repositories.

PROS: What I like most about GitHib is the free service for open source projects. There are lot of open source projects that are hosted there. It offers great set of features and social networking layer that simplifies the reviews, comments and documentations. The other good thing about this tool is the fact that it renders markdown. There are great features that I simply love using them like punching card and profiles for networking.

CONS: I cannot easily find drawbacks in GH. Also, they could improve gist and make it easy for integrating with my profile. What I don’t like most about the GH is the fact that it doesn’t offer one free private repository.

PROS: I like the simplicity of the Version Control and also it allows you to figure out the CLI and UI. The Open Source side is community based you may discuss with other users about the issues with code and even to solve some issues with their help. Also, I like that the private side is not visible for everyone and you can invite people to your projects. The API is robust and it provides lot of 3rd party apps and websites that work with it to bolster the tools like TravisCi.

CONS: It has small learning curve, but this is no problem at all. The version control is easier to use it with Command Line Interface.

PROS: GitHub puts its effors in having a good UX. It's probably the biggest reason why it stands out from other Git solutions in the market. It also offers a vanilla experience. Managing pull-requests in the platfrom is simple and organized that everything feels natural. On the social side, it lets developers pitch into any projects. It's a hub for active developers.

CONS: The bad part with GitHub is that its private repo is a paid version. It's reasonable enough for companies to make prviate repos payment but for developers to constantly update a private project is never profitable. It would be a plus if the platform is leanient on having a free private repository.

PROS: As a QA software tester, I found how easy GitHub is in terms of its UI and issues. It's never clunky and I can maneuver my way around without having to do much coding on my own. I frequently search code to find the exact issues and I like having the ability to seearch the entire repo.

CONS: As a platform, it's highly developer-oriented. While it works nicely for developers, for QA and marketing members,it's a nightmare. I want the platform to simplify its system for organizing and handling issues and PRs. To be specific, it would be great to possess a flow chart or even a kanban board similar to Trello's and JIRA's UI.

You can use it even for collaboration with your team so you can improve the workflow within the organization. I like the student developer pack because it offers great perks and products for free.

This program helped me to understand how other programs work, how to read and understand underlying codes. It allows me to develop and write programs that are based on industry standards.

CONS: Because it is an open platform, I cannot run PHP scripts because PHP is also open-source program language. I thought that GitHub will allow me to host my codes but I started to look for other alternatives.

Why is FinancesOnline free? Why is FinancesOnline free?

FinancesOnline is available for free for all business professionals interested in an efficient way to find top-notch SaaS solutions. We are able to keep our service free of charge thanks to cooperation with some of the vendors, who are willing to pay us for traffic and sales opportunities provided by our website. Please note, that FinancesOnline lists all vendors, we’re not limited only to the ones that pay us, and all software providers have an equal opportunity to get featured in our rankings and comparisons, win awards, gather user reviews, all in our effort to give you reliable advice that will enable you to make well-informed purchase decisions.
