What is Infer?

A predictive lead scoring platform, Infer is targeted at marketing and sales teams, helping them keep an eye on promising leads. Teams can use the software to identify top leads as well as those that score badly. The software’s capability lies in the use of outside signals and internal information to score leads. These signals are updated regularly, which include trademarks, patents, technology vendors, social and web presence, job vacancies and employee counts, among many others.

Infer aids users in picking up promising leads that may have been missed or never left the nurturing stage. Information provided by the system can be used to act quickly on leads, passing them on to capable sales agents. Infer’s data can be used to come up with great campaigns and accurate forecasts. Bad leads can also be filtered out before being passed on to the CRM.

The system makes use of dashboards, graphs and charts to detail the impact of your marketing campaigns on leads. Leads scores can be evaluated using existing CRMs.

Infer provides a predictive-as-a-service solution that mines historical customer data, pulls in thousands of external signals from the web, and uses advanced data mining and modeling to build predictive lead scores, behavior scores and other actionable sales and marketing insights.

The key elements of Infer’s platform are:

Internal and External Data Signals: Infer seamlessly pulls in and mines historical customer signals from CRM, marketing automation, or any other data sources a company uses. The app augments that information by crawling the web, purchasing data, and inferring signals from raw data about an individual and the organization they work for: such as website traffic, relevant job postings, patent filings, social presence, and even the technology vendors they use. With nothing more than an email address, Infer can go out and grab thousands of insights about each prospect. The company is applying deep data science techniques to these data points across the board, from matching company records to the right external signals, to cleaning up data quality and handling sparsity (missing data) issues.

Predictive Modeling and Scoring: With traditional lead scoring like that found in Marketing Automation systems, you manually define point values. But this breaks down when you’re talking about hundreds or thousands of attributes. With Infer’ approach, nothing is done manually. The company uses advanced predictive intelligence and machine learning algorithms, the same data science used by Google and other consumer web pioneers, to build personalized models that are tailored to identify a company’s best potential customers. These statistical techniques look at historical sales and marketing data and determine what a good customer looks like for a specific business and/or product.

When a new record is pushed to Infer, it immediately returns a simple “fit” score that indicates how likely that person and their company will buy a certain offering. And in addition to scoring incoming prospects, the company offers powerful behavioral scoring, which predicts how soon a prospect will buy by analyzing activities tracked in a company’s marketing automation system. Via deep integrations into applications like Marketo and Eloqua, Infer mines and performs predictive analytics on an extensive range of behavior signals, including activity spikes and declines as well as sustained engagement.

Automated, Real-Time Decision Support: Because Infer can score a lead the instant it is created, its customers can be confident they’re routing each prospect down the right path and getting a jump on their competition. Infer’s predictive “fit” and “behavior” scores are instantly and continuously sent back into a customer’s preferred sales and/or marketing application and integrated seamlessly into existing workflows so they can be used to make the right call in less time. These Infer Scores provide a simple decision point that can be used in all sorts of ways by all types of end users. What Problems Will Infer Solve?

Increasing marketing qualified leads (MQLs): By focusing on campaigns that produce good leads and by extracting the best leads from marginal sources, Infer helps marketers increase the volume of their qualified leads. Looking at the Infer score on the Salesforce campaign object, marketing teams can measure their cost per good lead. Supercharging sales productivity: To use a baseball analogy, Infer helps increase the batting average for all of a company’s reps. If a good rep can work 100 leads a month, you want to make sure they’re only swinging at strikes. By filtering out unpromising leads before they reach sales and sending them straight to nurture instead, Infer’s customers are increasing win rates and conversion. The company’s predictive lead scoring lets reps stack rank their leads, so they can align their effort where it can have the biggest revenue impact. This means that they’re calling good leads faster and they’re less likely to give up one call too soon.

Uncovering hidden potential from an old nurture database: Many businesses have prospects that slip through the cracks because the timing was off, a rep didn’t think they were a good fit at first, or maybe the inside sales team was just spread too thin at the time the lead came in. Infer constantly updates scores based upon external data, so we score old leads even when they’re not active on a company’s website. PROS: Infer makes the onboarding and implementation process quick and painless. It was so fast and easy that we got it integrated to our Salesforce instance in less than a week. The Infer team was also with us in every step of the way. The data we get is reliable as well based on the tests we did against scoring.

CONS: I love Infer and there is nothing about it I dislike. We get good return on our investment. We are quite excited to see how we will fare once we reach out to new markets where we don't have any history of.

PROS: I had no problems with Infer as it works really with our lead data base. Ramping was so quick and in less than two months, we were able to roll out multiple scoring model. Customer support is highly knowledgeable with their product aside from being responsive and prompt.

CONS: We had a bit of difficulty in operationalizing Infer and translating the product in terms of sales success.

PROS: We have a very noisy funnel and Infer just simplifies everything. Our product is quite popular and that means we have a large influx of leads. Our team has to spent a lot of time which inbound leads are worth prioritizing and Infer solves that part of the equation rather easily.

CONS: We don't have anything to complain about. Infer is easy to adopt and has grown with our enterprise. Customer support is top class, which makes any issue a non-issue.

PROS: Infer generated reliable and very effective predictive models for us and we are able to implement them without any hitch. I also love how they really listened and integrated my feedbacl into a model that has now been proven to be very accurate when it comes to predictive anaytics. They have recently introduced new tools that I think will be beneficial to many Infer users.

CONS: I wish Infer can develop a behavior model that would run in real-time because by the time the system recognizes a high value lead, either the activity has passed or they are already off the website.

PROS: Compared to various old school lead scoring software, Infer's premise is significantly superior. What Infer does is identify high quality leads based on the information surrounding them and this method has a very high conversion rate in contrast to traditional lead scoring approaches.

CONS: We have experienced numerous delays because Infer tends to queries our SFDC DB every 5 minutes to identify new leads instead of the other way around.

PROS: Infer contributed to the signficant improvement our marketing and sales engine in terms of efficiency. Once we have our model, it was pleasantly surprising that the implementation wasn't much of a struggle. While it is true that there are other predictive models out there that provide good results, what makes Infer stand out is its team. It is a pleasure working with the Infer people.

CONS: Most of the time, there is a transparency issue when dealing with machine learning-based models. While the Infer has a portal, it only highlights some of the essntial signals in the model.

PROS: Infer changed the way we work with leads. Back then, we were unable to make our leads work for us. When we discovered this business intelligence software, it was an eye opener. We are able to focus on high value leads instead of concentrating our efforts on increasing the number of our leads. Now, almost every goal are now in line with the information we have in Infer. Almost every kew processes are integrated with Infer as everyone is now aware how important a high value lead is.

CONS: I have no problems with the product. I just hate that we didn't discover it sooner.

PROS: Infer has the most impressive lead prediction technology and they still continue to find more applications fo their technology. We have been able to implement their brand of predictive intelligence to other areas of our business including advertising and email nurture programs. Their customer support also display high levels of expertise. They really know their stuff.

CONS: No complaints. Infer simply works. I am definitely excited how the solution fares our once they grow their integration environment and add more to the list other CRMs and MAP.

PROS: Infer has become an invaluable part of my business as the predictive models they make really improve the way we manage and qualify leads. Also, their customer support is world class. Everytime I make a call, they address my issues with the utmost urgency. You can really tell that their support reps are smart and very reponsive.

CONS: Back then I can't dig deeper into their model. But now, they just recently rolled out some new features and among them (profile management) lets me do just that.

PROS: We have a large funnel that is very heavy on the top. Back then, we implemented nurture campaigns to trim the leads down but it was very time consuming that we were almost always late in contacting our leads. Infer gave us the platform to cut this all down to manageable sizes and identify/prioritize leads that are likely to convert.

CONS: There is nothing we dislike in general. We are aware that predictive models can be difficult, espcially when venturing to new markets or introducing a new product. That said, Infer's customer service ensures that we are doing everything right at every step of the way.
