PROS: What I love about Hypersion is the ability to retrieve data from the system into excel files while the Smart View Add-in is enabled. The data is clear to be adjusted back into the system. We use the product to take care and expand our data by client, by account, and by period. We can easily manipulate reports and excel files in order to get back data from Hypersion to meet our needs.
CONS: The process of uploading into various schedules and memo templates can be really difficult and complicated, while retrieving data from it is quick and simple. When we want to change from $100 to $0 the system won’t change it automatically so we need to type “000000001” as an input for each client every month.

Data entry is easy and our financial team can track budgets, forecasts, actuals, commitments and many other processes within the company. Data is store into database Essbase. Smart View, Excel-based add-ins and Planning helps to create reports quickly and easily. Smart View has ad-hoc capabilities for requesting data out of Planning. The good thing is that we can generate all kinds of reports based on data from Planning including sales, capital expenditures, Budget and etc. You can even create customized reports so you can deliver to the users.
CONS: It would be great if they could improve performance enhancements in next version. Scrolling and searching through dimensions can be slow. I have received notification that there are improvements in 11.1.2.4 version but I haven’t tried yet. Also, I have found some limitations with the multi-dimensional database when pulling metadata.
