Autodesk PlanGrid Review

PROS: I like how intuitive PlanGrid is. Because of that, I can learn how to use its various tools and functions by myself. This is even complemented by a sophisticated UI that makes it easy for me to move between drawings.

CONS: There is nothing much to dislike about PlanGrid since its markup abilities are top-notch as well as its drawing connections.

PROS: The PlanGrid interface is easy to navigate and lets us view multiple plans at the same time. It also lets us edit plans together and view each others' edits as soon as they are committed. Plus, it lets us attach photos to our plans. And because it is cloud-based software, we can view our construction projects with ease wherever we are.

CONS: PlanGrid has a poor exporting capability. It is also slow in response when we superimpose plans as well as in committing modifications, which can disturb our collaboration and planning. It has an annoying function of saving plans in other formats that happens automatically too.

PROS: The best thing about PlanGrid is its capability to work offline. Other than that, it has a great reporting suite. It even lets us attach additional information in the form of photos and drawings. Aside from these things, we like how PlanGrid helps us keep track of our quality control checklists.

CONS: PlanGrid has steep pricing for their plans, which makes it difficult for us to upgrade for more functionalities. We also do not want to upgrade because of slow RFI system, the lack of an integrated CRM, and the absence of trackers for teams and budgets.

PROS: PlanGrid changes how teams collaborate since it synchronizes everyone's work on one interface. Because of this, people can see what others are working on and what they are adding to the system. This allows them to work on things together at the same time. We also like how PlanGrid lets us view our construction data on any platform because of its cloud-based nature. This way, we can make changes to our plans whenever we need to.

CONS: PlanGrid may want to add a built-in CRM to help teams get organized. It would also be nice to have an offline mode that lets us create hyperlinks between different planes. So far, this function has been more of a pain rather than a help, so we have stopped using it.

PROS: Our team enjoys the cloud-based nature of PlanGrid because it lets us collaborate with ease. We like how it lets us drag and drop elements across the plane and how it allows us to add drawings and notes to them too. We are also enjoying the webinars and other online resources because they help us maximize the solution.

CONS: The field sending system is slow and some loose sheets are sent with errors. It has limited RFI functionalities and the fact that it does not let us use our templates is bothersome. On top of it all, it is aggravating that it does not synchronize all connected devices to the cloud.

PROS: What we like best about PlanGrid is the fact that it is cloud-based, thus letting us collaborate with team members and partners without difficulty. This also allows us to have more room for attaching notes and photos to plans so that we can save as much information as possible.

CONS: It can be complicated to use when we want to synchronize new information to the cloud. And since it does not synchronize data from all devices automatically, sometimes we encounter problems with the planning because some people forget to do it manually. The software also makes it difficult for us to manage two plans at the same time and edit them. The hyperlinking function is horrible too and nobody likes to use it because of its slowness.

PROS: The best feature of PlanGrid is its offline mode that lets us work on plans without internet. This is really helpful because some of our sites are located in places without internet. It's also great that they allow several people to work on projects at the same time so that we can finish our tasks faster. I also enjoy its function for adding notes and comments on certain parts of the project.

CONS: Our team finds the budget monitoring and labor costs tracking to be lackluster. Contract management and quality control checklists are also flawed.

PROS: We are enjoying the synchronization of information when different people work on the same plan. Our employees also like that it is easy to create hyperlinks to connect information since it is automatic. Also, we find it beneficial that we can add more photos, incident lists, and plans for projects. Still, it would be nice if PlanGrid revises its plans because we would like to upgrade ours very much.

CONS: When the internet is slow, it is difficult for us to update the planes in every equipment. It is also cumbersome for us to superimpose planes just to compare them.

PROS: I can use this program up on any device, anywhere, with all of the tools I need to easily pull up the plans on a job site. It's very simple to make notes, send out RFIs, take pictures and share items with other users. I can even download the plans to my device so I can access it even without a good internet connection.

CONS: My only issue with this is the recently updated price point. I feel now the pricing is high, especially if you are paying for several users.

PROS: The best thing PlanGrid has done for us is to organize our plans because it lets us attach labels and multimedia content to them. It has also simplified our property maintenance tasks because we can filter actions speedily. This has let us go through our checklists rapidly and create comprehensive reports quickly so that we can deal with incidents promptly.

CONS: The only thing I do not like about PlanGrid is how it makes it difficult for users to modify plans that have been superimposed upon. We only use this to make comparisons now because it is not user-friendly. Also, the communication system can get an upgrade because so far there is no chatting function that lets us contact our contractors directly from the system. On top of it all, the platform is not adapted to mobile.

PROS: PlanGrid's Issues feature is bar none the easiest and most user friendly punch list generator on the market. The mark-up feature is very easy to use as well. We can collaborate with teams that are not in the same geographical region in real time even while on the phone.

CONS: The only way to handle submittals for a project is with "workarounds". It can be done but requires a little more work than some of the other products on the market.

PROS: PlanGrid is very fast and easy to make edits, upload ASI's and PR's and make annotations for trades to view. I can make links to important documents like RFI's, ensuring us that we provide the newest versions of the drawings while keeping track of the changes made.

CONS: The web view could use a full screen view of the drawings. On my 27" monitor it takes up a small space. I would also like to see some features added like sorting drawings by tag.

PROS: With PlanGrid, I can access 200 lbs. of documents in my 1.5 lb. iPad. I can find anything I want in just a few seconds and not have to be connected to the internet. Field discussions can be more productive because I have all the information to reference.

CONS: I would like to switch back and forth from the plans to the previous attachments quicker.

PROS: PlanGrid offers the fastest plan viewer on the market and is also very easy to learn. In addition, I like that if offers automatic hyperlinks on the drawing sets for better acccessibility and referencing.

CONS: There is no integration with database software (timberline, prolog, etc.). Also, I am unable to control view permissions of users/collaborators.

PROS: I love PlanGrid's ability to document and report from a single platform, available through the cloud anywhere and in the various devices we use.

CONS: It lacks direct interaction or integration with other products it teams well with. A bit of additional integration can result in increased time savings. Slow speed when syncing between devices can also be an issue if a project has a large volume of sheets.

PROS: PlanGrid lets even our guys in the field access the most up to date information without the need for them to need an internet connections, flag areas for RFI and link RFIs to drawings, speeding up the process of posting revisions and makes it simple for everyone.

CONS: The office side is lacking right now. The RFI and Submittal process is very basic and generally doesn't cover my needs. The take-off side/counting is also lacking compared to others.

PROS: I like PlanGrid's offline access feature, its speed in opening pages, and a relatively clear UI that makes it a breeze to use.

CONS: Pricing keeps increasing and they recently got rid of free web accounts with no warning. If your invoiced account runs out in the middle of a project, you lose all access to your documents until you get it updated, which is a great inconvenience for me.
