PROS: For me, the highlights of Recurly are the user-friendly website user interface and automatically generated invoices. Plus, there is a web-hosted link for consumers to edit their billing info and access is cut off to those who don’t pay even after being notified. The previous payment system we were using continued to give access even to customers who weren’t up to date with their payments.

CONS: I have no complaints at all. It can take some time to like the new interface and I had to go back to the old version a couple of times, but I finally got the hang of using the new version.

PROS: In my opinion, Recurly offers the best customer support in the business. Their agents answer our queries quickly and accurately. Plus, the interface is simple and easy to use, and you can quickly integrate the API with SDKs in multiple programming languages. Their packages are a bit expensive for small companies, but cost may not be an issue for medium-sized and large companies who are sure to get full bang for their buck given the product’s high quality and the vendor’s excellent customer support.

CONS: We are a French company we faced the problem of translating the invoices and emails sent to our customers. It was not possible in 2012-2013, but things may be different now. We managed to resolve the issue by disabling automatic emails and created our own system triggered by the app’s notifications. To be fair, it was not a major problem.

PROS: For me the highlights of Recurly are the direct to customer tools, PCI compliance, attractive user interface, intuitive data model, and easy API integrations.

CONS: I appreciate that the vendor is adding features to the product. I would like to see deeper tracking of invoices as well as sales orders/contracts represented in their model.

PROS: I like that the customer support staff offer prompt and helpful assistance. The system is easy to use for subscription businesses. It provides lots of price points and sub plants as well as detailed reporting and info. Plus, there are plenty of webinars through which you can learn new features.

CONS: The refund system is a little tricky as sometimes refunds are added as credits and the money is not given back. In such cases, you need to contact the support reps to get the matter resolved.

PROS: I appreciate the following Recurly features: Management of Dunning - the app makes easy to keep track of customers who have payment problems and need attention. Recurring payments happen easily. Finally, the reporting trends are useful and I like the MRR growth graph.

CONS: A couple of issues: It doesn’t seem possible to begin a recurring payment in the past. Second, I don’t have Recurly linked to my app, so it is a bit difficult to add new customers. I wish the system offered an easy solution to this issue.

PROS: Recurly is easy for developers to work with and offers an excellent Rest API. It makes it simple to add a full-featured subscription billing interface to your SaaS system. It took me less than a day to implement the entire billing part of our platform.

CONS: Recurly is not cheap as the pricing is not fixed. I have to pay a $300 monthly fee as well as a percentage on all transactions which adds up to quite a lot at the end of the month. I’d give Recurly maximum points if the pricing was fixed.

PROS: I like that the app is easy to use and navigate. Its export feature offers lots of info about each section of the system and it is easy to generate the reports we need for our SaaS firm.

CONS: I feel it would be great if Recurly offers native reports for calculating annual and monthly churn rate for both customers and revenue. Plus, the vendor should offer more flexibility to manage the pricing packages. We are a SaaS company and the pricing packages we need change depending on our needs. I wish it were easy to add add-ons and change our billing cycles as per our requirements. Since we are not able to do so, we have a lengthy and messy list of pricing plans.

PROS: I like that it’s easy to add Recurly to any web or mobile application. I can use their hosted forms or one of their multiple APIs. It was easy to set up Recurly and now my bank balance has soared with the payments coming into my web service. I recommend this app at all the hackathons I go to.

CONS: I have no issues with the software, and my only wish is one-time payments were more simple.

PROS: I appreciate that the user interface is easy for myself and also for customers to update their accounts.

CONS: I have had only a couple of issues. First, it is difficult to verify customer info as there are some quirks in the system. Second, I had a bad experience with a customer support agent, but his supervisor stepped in to resolve the issue to my satisfaction.

PROS: As a developer, I rate Recurly as the best subscription management app in the market. Most of its competitors focus mainly on payment processing and not on subscription management. Recurly places importance on subscription management and provides many useful features including add-ons. The API integration for developers, documentation, admin portal, and customer support are all excellent.

CONS: As mentioned earlier, Recurly is streets ahead when compared to other services, so I have no cause for complaints.
