Tableau is a business intelligence system that helps companies visualize and understand their data.
Giving a revolutionary new approach when it comes to business intelligence, the solution allows businesses to quickly connect, visualize, as well as share data with an efficient seamless experience all the way from the PC to the iPad. You can create and publish dashboards, then sharing them with partners, colleagues, or customers—but without the need for programming skills. If you’re already using a Tableau Service (Tableau Online or Tableau Server), there will be no obstacles to let data flow seamlessly from one platform to the other.
Tableau Desktop is a self-service analytics solution that allows you to look at data and answer questions rapidly. Tableau Server enables you to publish dashboards from your Tableau Desktop on any web browser or mobile-based device. Here’s an overview of Tableau’s products:
Tableau Desktop
This product empowers users to be more data-driven using an integrated platform that’s both easy to use and scale. This product easily connects with hundreds of data sources, both in the cloud or on-premise, to commence analysis that enables you to answer questions, solve problems, and discover insights. Any user can ask deeper questions with the use of an intuitive and visual interface that simplifies clustering data, building powerful calculations, and viewing statistical summaries.
Tableau Server
This product is designed for enterprise analytics. Easy to scale and deploy, Tableau Server can be implemented to your workflows both in the cloud or on-premise on Windows or Linux. It can also be seamlessly integrated with your existing security and authentication protocols. It empowers organizations to be more data-driven with features like content management, data sharing and collaboration, governed data access, and comprehensive dashboard and insights.
Tableau Online
This product offers accessibility for users anywhere at any time. Fully hosted in the cloud, this platform provides self-service analytics and eliminates the need for configuring servers, scaling hardware capacity and managing software upgrades. It has an enterprise-grade infrastructure for users to explore and share insights securely using any browser or mobile device.
Tableau Prep
This product is built for organizations to conduct data preparation at scale. It is ideal for accelerating data analysis and combining, shaping, and cleaning data – without writing code. It has smart features to simplify data preparation and deepen understanding of data using direct and visual feedback. Users can connect on-premise or in the cloud, whether it’s a spreadsheet or database, to speed up the process and bridge the gap between data prep and analytics.
Show MoreTableau offers many unique benefits to its users, and according to satisfied companies, help analyze data in a way which drivers decisions in a profitable direction. But how does this exactly happen? Here are the most prominent Tableau benefits you should know about:
Connection to various data sources
To start with, Tableau’s productivity enables users to link it to a variety of information resources you’re already using, import and visualize data quickly and easily. Thanks to the modernized technology and speed of operation, the company claims to have developed a 1o to 100 times faster data analysis mechanism than the one its competitors can offer.
Intuitive and easy interface
For such a powerful system, Tableau is a very intuitive tool, with data analysis taking but a few drag-and-drop moves. Being so, it is no surprise that anyone can use the system with ease, without the need for extensive training.
Advanced collaboration
Tableau promotes collaboration, ensuring that all team members are abreast of what’s happening. Most of Tableau’s functionality is collated on a public dashboard, where users can access and process data with only few clicks. What even makes things better is that the system is mobile-optimized, making sure that agents can use the same application to share their achievements and invite colleagues to collaborate.
Several methods for data investigation
Tableau investigates data in many different ways, starting with large, traditional dashboards, and ending up with complex cloud-based source explorations. Instead of conducting analyses with a single method, the user can combine approaches and data views to make insights richer. At the end, all conclusions are showcased in comprehensive data visualizations, made so simple that you can easily share them with clients and partners from different industries.
Flexible pricing & deployment
Tableau gives users the possibility to choose whether they want to deploy it in cloud or on their local servers, and offers annual subscriptions and single-payment licenses to meet the capacity of different companies. It is thanks to this flexible policy that Tableau is made accessible to businesses from all scales and industries.
Reliable support
Last, but not least, Tableau gives users access to a reliable tech support team, and automates data updates to help companies get fresh information without wasting their time.
Show MoreBecause businesses have distinct business wants, it is only prudent they abstain from deciding on a one-size-fits-all, “perfect” software system. Still, it would be almost impossible to come across such application even among popular software products. The rational step to do should be to note down the different major factors that demand consideration like major features, plans, technical skill ability of staff, organizational size, etc. Next, you should double down on the product research comprehensively. Browse over some Tableau reviews and look into each of the software systems in your list in detail. Such well-rounded product research guarantees you circumvent ill-fitting applications and select the one which delivers all the features your business requires in growing the business.
Position of Tableau in our main categories:
Tableau is one of the top 10 Business Intelligence Software products
Tableau is one of the 10 Data Analytics Software products
Tableau is one of the top 10 Data Visualization Software products
If you are considering Tableau it could also be sensible to analyze other subcategories of Business Intelligence Software listed in our database of B2B software reviews.
Since each enterprise has specific business requirements, it is advisable for them to desist from looking for a one-size-fits-all perfect software application. Needless to say, it would be pointless to try to find such an app even among popular software platforms. The clever thing to do would be to jot down the various important elements that need consideration such as main features, finances, skill levels of workers, company size etc. Then, you should do your groundwork thoroughly. Read some Tableau Business Intelligence Software reviews and look into each of the other apps in your shortlist in detail. Such exhaustive homework can ensure you weed out ill-fitting systems and select the solution that presents all the features you need for business success.

Because of that need we’ve created our behavior-based Customer Satisfaction Algorithm™ that aggregates customer reviews, comments and Tableau reviews across a broad array of social media sites. The information is then displayed in a simple to understand form showing how many users had positive and negative experience with Tableau. PROS: This is great solution for both beginners and expert analysts because it is cisually appealing software. I like the drag and drop feature for building visually appealing dashboards and reports within minutes. It doesn’t require programming skills. The tool is so simple that with only few clicks you’ll get quality and quick visualization dashboard or store so you can findout any insight from the data.
CONS: When there are huge amount of records in memory the software is slowing down.

PROS: Details and values behind the charts of the dashboards
CONS: 1: The sales reps are very aggressive and sleezy. They will mislead you and introduce last minute minimums. Given that they are an enterprise company they don't really care for small businesses. 2: The support during trial period is limited and not very useful. You are on you own for the most part to figure it out. 3: The learning curve is very high despite all the online resources. 4: Building table relationships between tables causes duplication. You have to do a lot of data cleaning and normalization before you can actually do a report. 5: Trusted authentication doesn't work after tremendous effort. 6: Tableau server is very clunky, requires a lot of ram and takes forever to startup. 7: Slowness. Overall the experience with the reports is slow 8: Printing reports and saving them is not an easy option. 9: Compared to powerbi the desktop is not as userfriendly. It took us 1 hour to learn powerbi but it took us over 2 weeks with the some help to figure out formulas in tableau 10: Creating reports using R or phyton is not an option.

Ease of Use
PROS: The scalability of the program is outstanding. There are a variety of free alternatives for distributing and sharing reports and analysis, and using all of Tableau's products correctly creates unlimited scalability, which is helpful for any business to have immediate business intelligence. This is one of the most powerful components of it. Because of its highly developed intuitiveness, Tableau allows energy companies to have limited access to their employees, traditionally. Because Tableau is simple and intuitive, anyone at any level of the organization can find a reason to use it to improve the understanding of a specific business on a daily basis. Everyone can become a data collector in Tableau.
CONS: Tableau Desktop is an application that has been in use for many years and has a long history of development. Another area that I would like to see improved was the design. A painter that specializes in formatting, for example, would be helpful when consolidating reports and needing to apply a formatting theme to each part. If it had the ability to be modified, the parameter values would be correct. Providing more versatility in how parameters are used in Tableau will enable users to do much more with the tool and express their analysis more effectively.

PROS: Tableau makes it easy for us to find relationships between data and to pull information from different sources. Because of this, we can get the information we need with ease. What's more, the software is accessible from any device. All we need is a link and we can work with real-time data.
CONS: The only thing I do not like about Tableau is its reliance on an internet connection. Without it, I am unproductive. It also fails to respond to my commands at times, such as when I move to save my latest modifications. A lot of people in our company find this annoying.

CONS: There seems to be a limitation on how we can present data. But rather than a problem with Tableau, it may have to do with the data we want to visualize.

PROS: The best thing about Tableau is that it does not require coding knowledge to produce visual reports and to arrange the interactive dashboards. The latter are even accessible on different devices so everyone can work even when they are away from their desks. Lastly, it has been adopted by our organization seamlessly because of its ease of use.
CONS: Cross joining is difficult to implement with Tableau so we were forced to make our algorithm. Aside from that, it is challenging to map connections between various databases.

PROS: I knew this service from the academic field and then I was able to transfer it to the workplace. Excellent tool for data capture, processing and visualization. The application of statistical models on the data that is displayed is very useful and this is not complicated. What hooked me with this service was undoubtedly the combination of very pleasant and interactive graphical visualizations along with the application of advanced statistical models in some cases.
CONS: As I mentioned before, the use of this service in the desktop version is annoying due to the constant updates that lead to reinstall the application. If they could give support with updates on the same downloaded version it would be great.
