What is Alfresco?

Alfresco is an Enterprise Content Management (ECM), Web Content Management and Digital Image Management Tool. It is an open source content management system that helps in boosting document sharing, collaboration and more. No matter what type of business you do, there will be a lot of information gathering and production. To manage that information in an effective and efficient way, it becomes important that you get yourself a CMS such as Alfresco. Alfresco supports document sharing, storage, workflows, and collaboration and it is also used as a publishing platform.

Overview of Alfresco Benefits

Too much information in a business means many problems. Consider collaborating on a presentation you might have to present to a customer, here the presentation would be edited by different people, which leads to a slew of emails. Having a good CMS with a smooth workflow ensures that every person knows what is to be expected and where the input is required by a person concerned. Moreover, in a business, each of the employees is responsible for different tasks, and they usually end up carrying information in their heads or under a bundle of emails. By using Alfresco, such a problem is mitigated by ensuring that the information with each employee is stored in an accessible repository.

Alfresco Position In Our Categories

Knowing that companies have particular business wants, it is prudent they steer clear of seeking an all-encompassing, ideal business application. Having said that, it is hard to chance on such an app even among widely used software solutions. The better step to undertake can be to narrow down the several essential factors that call for a consideration such as important features, price plans, skill capability of the users, company size, etc. After which, you should follow through your research to a full extent. Have a look at these Alfresco analyses and look into the other software solutions in your shortlist in detail. Such comprehensive research guarantees you keep away from mismatched apps and select the system that meets all the aspects your business requires in sustaining growth.

Position of Alfresco in our main categories:

TOP 50

Alfresco is one of the top 50 Business Process Management Software products

TOP 100

Alfresco is one of the 100 Collaboration Software products

TOP 50

Alfresco is one of the top 50 Content Management Systems products

TOP 20

Alfresco is one of the 20 Version Control Systems products

Since each enterprise has unique business requirements, it is prudent for them to desist from looking for a one-size-fits-all ideal software application. Needless to say, it would be useless to try to find such a platform even among market-leading software solutions. The intelligent thing to do would be to list the various important aspects that need consideration such as main features, budget, skill levels of staff members, company size etc. Then, you should do your homework thoroughly. Read some Alfresco Collaboration Tools reviews and check out each of the other apps in your shortlist in detail. Such exhaustive groundwork can make sure you weed out ill-fitting applications and select the app that presents all the features you need for business success.

PROS: Alfresco outperforms other ECM software when it comes to versatility and flexibility. I like that this solution can be integrated with Exchange app, and with this, a variety of capabilities for document disposition across different types of content are enabled. It also offers the option if we want to use its UI or make one from scratch, as well as establish a solid enterprise search tool to be taken advantage of your employees, customers, and business partners while securing your system with the role-based access and permission. We can even choose whether to use a public or private cloud, and the app provides an Amazon-based cloud solution that comes with a highly secured infrastructure. We even had a smooth workflow with this app. With its Activiti feature, we effectively and successfully models and implemented a workflow that works in all departments in supporting the process that regards to regulated manufacturing materials change request.

CONS: I would love to use this app for my business, but the entry point seems too high for its price. Its cloud-based version looks compelling but doesn’t suit both to security governance policies and clients’ technical model of many large companies we serve.

PROS: Alfresco is a useful content management system for our business! We have a customized user interface created on the app. The best part about it is that it is easy to use and understand. Two thumbs up!

CONS: The software could have been better if it also has a mobile capability. Not sure if they’ve already created a mobile version since I haven’t used it for a couple of years.

PROS: Alfresco is easy to use and user-friendly. It provides a big help while we’re working with an IT company. Our team handles commercial accounts, and this app helps us manage presentations and documents with ease. As a part of the team, I was assigned to collect research analysis and documents and send them through this app.

CONS: I cannot integrate Alfresco with other online services such as CRM and ERP. We’re not using the solution anymore, so I think this issue is addressed already.
