Azure Maps is a GIS API service platform that allows enterprises, organizations, and developers to incorporate and enable advanced geospatial and mapping functionalities in the applications and solutions they are creating, deploying, and managing using Microsoft Azure cloud services. This platform-as-a-service offering built within Microsoft Azure delivers these GIS functionalities to your web and mobile applications and solutions using various geospatial API services.
With Azure Maps, you can build custom applications where end-users can access dynamic maps they can easily read, navigate, and interact with. The platform also lets you add search capabilities into these applications so they can look for specific places, view them on maps, and access important details about those places. Moreover, Azure Maps give you the ability to produce applications that can provide useful data and insights regarding traffic flow and incidents and calculate the optimal routes between multiple origins and destinations at once.
Show MoreMapping
Azure Maps enables you to integrate mapping capabilities into your web and mobile applications. As a result, you can build technology solutions that generate rich, intuitive, and dynamic visualizations of geospatial data. You can use Azure Maps’ render service API to add various map images both in vector and raster format to your applications
The platform also has a JavaScript component that allows you to incorporate standard and open-source map controls to your applications. This helps your end-users interact with maps better and access valuable and up-to-date pieces of information from these maps. The JavaScript component even lets you use your own vector and raster datasets and display them on maps as separate layers of information.
Location Search
The GIS API service platform offers a service API that delivers location search capabilities to your applications. With this, end users can immediately find places that may be useful or interesting for them. Your applications get the functionality to show points of interest that are closest to the end-users and render them on maps. You can also allow end-users to look for places and addresses along a route or within a larger area.
Moreover, the capability to perform geocoding can be enabled in your applications. Thus, end users can search for addresses and find out the geographic coordinates (latitude and longitude) for those addresses. They can do reverse geocoding as well.
Traffic & Route Intelligence
Azure Maps works with TomTom and Moovit so you can provide your applications with rich and essential location intelligence. For instance, traffic data are collected from these mobile and location technology providers and integrated into the applications. Thus, end users can view real-time information on traffic flows and incidents around a network of roads and discover alternative routes that shorten their travel time or increase their travel speed.
The platform, furthermore, improves route optimization by allowing applications to calculate the shortest or fastest routes or directions end-users can travel based on the specific conditions, preferences, and requirements they provided. These can include their mode of transportation, time and fuel requirements, weight restrictions, and the nature and type of materials or products they are carrying.
The applications can even calculate and show alternative routes or directions between multiple origins and destinations all at once, taking into account travel time and distance.
Show MoreSince companies have specific business requirements, it is rational that they abstain from adopting a one-size-fits-all, “perfect” software solution. Regardless, it is hard to come across such application even among recognizable software products. The clever step to do can be to take note of the various chief functions which require analysis such as major features, plans, skill levels of the users, organizational size, etc. Then, you should perform your product research exhaustively. Browse through some Azure Maps evaluations and look into each of the software solutions in your list more closely. Such detailed research guarantees you keep away from poorly fit apps and subscribe to the one which meets all the benefits your company requires in growing the business.
