Backblaze Review

PROS: All I did was set up the tool on my computer. It automatically backs up files so there’s no need to do anything. This tool does its job while I do mine. It is reliable, comprehensive, and simple. It also provides a private key for the backed up files, which I like because it gives me peace of mind knowing that no one other than the one who holds the key can access the files. The unlimited storage is also incredible considering that the service is affordable.

CONS: I haven’t tried restoring the files that are backed up by this tool so I really can’t say that there’s nothing to dislike about Backblaze yet. But hopefully, the process is straightforward and easy. But so far, the tool is great.

PROS: There is no need to worry about losing or accidentally deleting a file. Backblaze automatically backs up the files I have on my computer (and even the files on the external hard drive that I often attach to the computer) and store it in the cloud. And because the files are in the cloud, they can be accessed and retrieved with ease. On top of that, Backblaze sends me an email whenever I forgot to attach the drive or turn the computer on.

CONS: There’s only a per computer plan available. I had many computers so it would be great if there is a multi-computer plan or even a discount for having several computers connected. Apart from that, Backblaze does not automatically back up the files on my external hard drive until I manually tell it to scan and then back up the hard drive. Hopefully, this too will become automated.

PROS: It offers unlimited backup cloud storage at an affordable price. I was able to transfer the backup to another computer (the process is simple and seamless). The upload time is fast. I am using Mac and it hooks right up to the System Preference, eliminating the need to open a separate app. Overall, Backblaze offers everything I was looking for a backup service (fast simple and reliable) that I can use to back up lots of files (6TB) to cloud.

CONS: Nothing. I love everything about it.

PROS: Setting up BackBlaze is very simple, it allows me to select drives and files. I love the control panel feature, it provides me with information of how much I have backed up and it provides me with assurance that my files are save. I can keep private key encryption on the uploaded files. It doesn’t have lot of costs for thumb drives and hard drives and it has simple download and restore system. It allows me to do full restore quickly.

CONS: The interface is cumbersome. It would be great if there is an easiest way to search files and to better know how date ranges for restoration. I would like to see specifying file masks, search on modification date and some file attributes. I would like to use it in case of single file restore. There is no option to specify file masks for the backup.

PROS: First and foremost, there’s a 15-day trial which allowed me to see what this solution is capable of. It has helped me decide whether or not it is worth my money. Next, the solution is very easy to use and simple. It automatically and constantly backs up all my files so there’s no need to worry about forgetting to back up a certain document or project. Aside from that, the storage is unlimited. It is also pretty cheap. I am just paying $5 every month for the service. Last but not least, I had a wonderful experience with their support team. They know their thing, give step-by-step troubleshooting instruction, and always respond to my concerns quickly.

CONS: For three and a half years of using this service, I never had any negative experience. Hopefully, this awesome experience will continue for long.

PROS: BackBlaze is great product for backing up to a cloud that I currently use to back up image files and SQL Databasles from servers. It has easy interface and it allows me to sync via NAS Synology Rackstation where my local backups reside. It’s great when is set as a task to a backup directly to this cloud.

CONS: When I have large size folder the speed is slow, and what concerns me is the download speed that it will be the same.

PROS: Backblaze is a very helpful but not demanding tool. The only thing I did was set up the system and afterward left it to do its work, which is to keep my file safe. It runs seamlessly in the background, does not use numerous system resources, and is quick to backup. This tool also became my savior when I accidentally deleted important files. I was able to recover them easily. Also, the ability to access all my files anytime and anywhere is a great help.

CONS: I find the upload speed quite slow. But it’s not a big deal. To be honest, I don’t find any cons of using this tool.

PROS: The available storage is unlimited. The backed-up files can be accessed with so much ease. When a drive hasn’t been backed up in a certain number of days, the tool notifies me. But the best thing about using this tool, it will save your life.

CONS: Backblaze runs on internet connection. My internet connection is good but backing up files still takes FOREVER! It is annoyingly slow. I once had a video project with a file size of about 700GB and it took the tool several days to back the file up. It is so slow but still better than not having a backup at all and losing everything. I love this tool but it requires patient and good internet connection.

PROS: Upload your file and forget about it. $5 monthly and you have more than 3TB backed up of the files that are extremely large (image sequences, 300GB ProRes exports) I’m able to use the whole upstream connection so I can know that the upload is fast.

CONS: I would like to back up some network shares or to have some other way in order to back up some huge data. It takes 80 days in order to upload a file of 3TB. Also, it would be great if they could include family pricing, but this is no big deal because the price is affordable.

PROS: Backblaze is a kind of set-it-and-forget-it tool and it has greatly saved my life. Before switching to Backblaze, I was using Time Machine. It was when inconsistencies were going on with the latter service that I considered employing Backblaze. I’m relieved that I settled on the service because just after two months, I lost everything at Time Machine. So the backup on Backblaze saved my life. It helped me recover everything that I lost. In just a week, I already had the hard drive with everything I need.

CONS: Not much. It does its job effectively even if you don’t pay attention to it.

PROS: BackBlaze runs in the background, and I can control it when I want it to run or to delay it for couple of hours. I can easily and quickly download a file. My friend and I tested the hard drive recovery and the results were amazing. We were able to get refund for the device.

CONS: If the drive is disconnected for 60 days without even tricking the system that is attached by shutting down. You’ll get 6 months before your data is gone. In my opinion, they should never delete the data.

PROS: BackBlaze is easy to use and affordable product, I have used other backup software solutions but this one is second to none. The price you pay is $5/month, and it allows you to backup unlimited amounts of information and data from your device. It’s simple to install, log in to the account you have made and then the software does everything for you. It’s automated and in the background. The restore panel sorts the files in a tree so you can easily download them.

CONS: They do not offer versioning for backed up files, it would be very useful to save the data in case of hardware failure and for protecting of some unwanted changes.

PROS: I love the fact that this product offers unlimited storage and I can be sure that my data is in safe place. It automatically backups files, so I can easily restore my system. The software adapts to the bandwidth usage and this means that it never slows down your internet speeds. The design of the website where you can access your files is clear and well-design, it allows you to check all your versions of the backup. You can access files through USB which you can receive it for small fee. It offers private encryption key so you can be sure that your data is secure.

CONS: There are some bugs when pressing the start backing up button and the beginning of the backup process. Also, the interface can be confusing for those who are not tech savvy.

PROS: BlackBaze is so simple, it works on “click-and-install” solution. Its tech support is great and the software doesn’t have any kind of issues or bugs. I love their unlimited backup. You could add on subscriptions and they will pro-rate and keep all of the subscriptions.

CONS: Whenever I connect external drives to the systems drives are automatically added, and I receive emails that for e.g. drive X is no longer connected.
