What is Beanstalk?

Beanstalk is a simple version control software designed to remove the hassle of managing deployments and hosting codes, ultimately allowing development teams to concentrate on creating smart software. It is a comprehensive workflow platform that permits developers to keep codes in subversion (SVN) or Git repository. The platform enables organizations and independent developers to write, review, and deploy code to their servers with ease.

Beanstalk is a hassle-free, hosted solution that performs all complicated configurations to simplify version control while ensuring all codes are safe, readily available, and backed up. The package allows you to restrict permissions to critical repositories and offers read/write or read-only permissions to all codes. Some of its main features include code review tools, subversion & Git, In-browser code editing, revision logs and history, repository browsing, and secure infrastructure.

TOP 20

Beanstalk is one of the top 20 Version Control Systems products

If you are interested in Beanstalk it may also be sensible to analyze other subcategories of Version Control Systems listed in our base of SaaS software reviews.

It is important to note that virtually no software in the Version Control Systems category will be a perfect solution that can fulfill all the needs of different company types, sizes and industries. It may be a good idea to read a few Beanstalk Version Control Systems reviews first as specific software might excel exclusively in a very small group of applications or be designed with a very specific type of industry in mind. Others may operate with a goal of being easy and intuitive and as a result lack complicated functions desired by more experienced users. You can also find software that support a broad group of customers and give you a powerful feature toolbox, however this usually comes at a higher cost of such a software. Ensure you're aware of your needs so that you purchase a software that has exactly the elements you look for.

PROS: I like the ease of setting up credentials as well as of pulling and pushing codes. Creating and storing feature branches is easy as well. Aside from that, I like that this system provides code review links. It makes it easier to share them with other developers.

CONS: It is not as comprehensive as other products in the market these days such as the Amazon code and Gitlab. But everything we needed is available so it's not really a big deal for us.

PROS: We’ve used it alongside the tortoise windows extension and now managing multiple repositories with various teams became faster and easier. When it comes to system set up, I think the process of setting up Beanstalk is way faster than Github. Also, the repositories are private.

CONS: It’s a bit pricey for small teams. I only have five developers in our team but I have to pay $25 every month.

PROS: I love its API and its integration with lots of apps such as basecamp and fogbugz. It also supports three of the most commonly used version control tools in the market, which is very helpful. And the best thing is, the product provides much value for the price. They also offer a free trial which has helped us know whether this really fits our needs before making a purchase.

CONS: I have some complaints but they are mostly minor ones. For instance, the product is not as comprehensive as other solutions in the market like bitbucket or github. But I don’t think it is a deal breaker.

PROS: I like the ability to have an in-depth view of the files and know the number of commits behind the environment. With this, we are able to prevent disasters. A number of safety nets is also available to guarantee safety prior to deployment. This is pretty helpful especially for small teams like us. It allows us to stay on top of each commit.

CONS: Honestly, I find everything working fairly well. So right now, I cannot provide any cons.

PROS: It offers everything you would expect from a remote repository service and more. It provides built-in deployments along with additional attractive deployment-related functionalities.

CONS: The web interface is not very user friendly. The icons are quite small and we struggle finding old comments. Also, I find the code review system a bit clunky. An update would be so helpful so new users won't have a hard time finding things.

PROS: I love the versatility and ease of use of their deployment system. There's an online code editor, which is great for doing hot fixes as well as quick edits. The product is overall great, so are the people who provides support. They are simply amazing! Always available when I need them the most. They also know their product very well and helps us fix issues fast.

CONS: I think it would be the price. It can be quite expensive especially for small teams. Nevertheless, the vendor find ways to make things work for their client. So it's not really a concern.

CONS: The code review system is fairly basic is somehow unweildy. I would really love to see some improvements on it. At least they make it better if not at par with Github's reviewing.
