Deltek Costpoint Review

PROS: When it comes to project management, Costpoint is very reliable and cost-efficient. It helps promote the accountability of tasks and operations involved in completing specific projects.

CONS: The software response time is quite slow and can definitely be improved. Regular updates could help.

PROS: Even beginners will find Costpoint easy to use. No training is required.

CONS: There is a delay in the timekeeping feature. It takes at least a few minutes to find frequently used charge numbers when a new period begins. If there is a workaround for this, we haven't found it yet.

PROS: Costpoint allows us to look at our data systematically. We can choose to view them in detail or at the top level, allowing management to see only the data they need. This helps in customizing the information you want to see.

CONS: The multitude of menus can be confusing and a wrong click can lead to a big mess. It's good, though, that Costpoint offers a lot of features, and the error notifications help in preventing messing up the entire process.

PROS: It's amazing that Deltek conducts an annual conference that provides information about new products and how upcoming technologies affect the direction of the company. Costpoint has helped our different departments collaborate and work together through the integration of various data silos.

CONS: After-sales support could be improved. All you get with Costpoint is the product itself and some troubleshooting assistance.

PROS: Incredibly simple to use and set up, this system saves us a lot of time. Its seamless integration with Windows apps and the other software we use allows everyone to use it without issue.

CONS: We are currently using Costpoint and enjoying it. There's really nothing to complain about at the moment.

PROS: Costpoint is a solid piece of software that makes expense management easy for both the employees that use them and their approving managers.

CONS: The fact that Costpoint hasn't had a decent update in years makes it legacy software, which is a minus for me.

PROS: Reviewing and authorizing employee timesheets is a breeze with the help of Costpoint's straightforward, easy-to-use platform. It helps managers verify hours stated and not stated by an employee so there are no discrepancies.

CONS: I wish my company would use Costpoint for more than just as timesheets and management. Having said that, I don't have any real complaints about the system per se.

PROS: Featuring straightforward forms, Costpoint easily gets the job done for us. Its expense tracking system can be easily reconciled with our internal accounting systems and users find the interface intuitive.

CONS: The main thing I dislike about Costpoint is how dated it looks, which negatively affects the overall user experience.

PROS: Software is so flexible that it allows us to manage payroll and human resources, as well as contracts and subcontracts. It offers several modules and add-ons that provide additional features, too. Although the payroll module is quite limited, it does the job of the in-house payroll processes.

CONS: Major concern is the price because it can be prohibitive, especially when you consider how limited after-sales support is. Support in some areas is exceptional, however, specifically in payroll.

PROS: Costpoint is great because it helps us efficiently log daily expenses incurred by employees, and it helps employees do it quickly, too.

CONS: Little to no innovation for over a decade now. The interface could use a revamp because it looks dated now.

PROS: It's an excellent piece of software that's easy to navigate and very user-friendly.

CONS: Software is not that customizable.

PROS: The interface is basic but complete, and the software gets the job done. With Costpoint, I can easily approve or deny expenses.

CONS: No real complaints about the features, but the interface could be improved. The software hasn't been updated for a while and it shows in the design.

PROS: Costpoint does the job for me when I need to take a look at purchase orders and purchase requisitions. It also helps in creating charge codes for employees so they can link their expenses to the corresponding project. Overall, the program is reliable.

CONS: Costpoint is not that user-friendly for me, but I'm a new user so that may be a factor. It does come with error protection features when encoding data so I recommend it to businesses. It's worth a try.

PROS: Customer service is topnotch and hard to find anywhere else. Out of the box, the software already solved several of our problems, but it also allows for a host of customization options to help a variety of industries. Seamless integration and the ability to extend the system makes it even more powerful and flexible. It helps that we can use Time & Expense with the Budgeting and Planning add-on.

CONS: You need to answer a set of questions before you can actually use the software. I know this sets it up according to your needs, but it is unexpected and challenging to end-users. The interface could also use some innovation and improvement. I also have issues with the pricing model because additional licensing costs are higher than what you have to pay when you purchase the software. There are also maintenance costs for additional seats, which can be a surprise, especially if you've already allocated budgets. I love the in-house consulting services, but they are generally higher than what third-party consultants charge.
