What is Drupal?

Drupal is described by its developers as a community publishing system. However, Drupal is still a content management system, optimized many times throughout the years to be used on the web as social medium. Explained in a non-technical language, Drupal is a platform that takes the preeminent bits of the content management system, forums, wikis, e-commerce and blogging platforms to create an integrated modular system that can be used for communication, publication, and e-commerce.

Still, Drupal is much more than a CMS: it is an application development framework that compels the developers to use a common, structured approach that leads to a modular, interoperable code with a common interface. Finally, Drupal is an open source CMS platform that empowers many applications and websites for free. The reason for this is that there are many diverse communities of users who are active not just in applying, but also building and supporting Drupal.

Drupal Position In Our Categories

Knowing that businesses have distinct business wants, it is sensible they avoid buying an all-in-one, ideal system. Nonetheless, it would be futile to try to come across such a software system even among recognizable software solutions. The best step to do would be to set down the several key factors that call for a deliberation including essential features, plans, skill levels of staff members, organizational size, etc. Thereafter, you must perform the research to a full extent. Go over some Drupal reviews and explore each of the software solutions in your list in detail. Such comprehensive product research can make sure you steer clear of unfit software products and select the one that meets all the benefits your company requires to realize efficiency.

Enterprises have diverse needs and requirements and no software solution can be just right in such a scenario. It is useless to try to find an ideal off-the-shelf software app that meets all your business requirements. The smart thing to do would be to adapt the application for your unique needs, staff member skill levels, budget, and other factors. For these reasons, do not hurry and pay for well-publicized popular solutions. Though these may be widely used, they may not be the ideal fit for your unique requirements. Do your homework, check out each short-listed platform in detail, read a few Drupal Content Management Systems reviews, speak to the seller for clarifications, and finally select the product that provides what you require.

PROS: Drupal is flexible solution and provides system of modules and you can add them to your site for creating new functions. With commerce module you can add shoping functions and membership module allows you to do member based services and the video module allows you to host video clips. I like that these modules are made of small submodules and this means that you can turn on little bits of the functions. Also, you are allowed to mix the modules and create paid membership site.

CONS: It is complex solution. With Drupal you have lot of flexibilities and ways to do one thing but you can never be sure which method works the best. Also, the codes don’t last forever and this is because Drupal releases major updates which change the functionality of the site.

PROS: I love Drupal's library of themes and modules. It was huge and the selection is awesome. All for free, but there is also an option to pay for additional components from other programmers. I also love the option of adding other users in a project because that way I can collaborate with other teammates.

CONS: Drupal is not that easy to use. It's a bit complex compared to its competitors.

PROS: Drupal is great tool for building and managing websites. I like that this platform provides in-built GUI based functionality for creating workflow rules, content types and custom content management requirements. The fact is that Drupal has robust built-in user management system and you can easily extend it accroding to your needs. With command line tools you can make operational management tasks like sync’ing device to production, upgrades and others.

CONS: I have found that some management features are not as intuitive as those within the Wordpress.

PROS: I have tried other CMS solutions like PHP and Joomla but once I figured out how Drupal is working I don’t want to try other CMS platform. After developing several websites I can say that I have gain much experience thanks to this platform. I use D7 and D8 for various projects, D8 has lot of features and this is great benefit for us because it simplifies the whole process.

CONS: It takes some time to do the research and plan for future upgrades.

We can keep our content organized and consistent and to help those users who can create page for a single paragraph or change fonts and colors.

CONS: It has a learning curve and the UI doesn’t have drag-and-drop function. Also, we cannot make changes and updates to the sites easily. I wish I could do the whole work by myself.

CONS: Flexibility is Drupal’s both pros and cons. Because it allows you to choose between simple and complex projects, this might lead to long set up process and it can be reall pain for small deployments and brochure sites.
