Geckoboard Review

PROS: I love that I can change boards to look at any analytics I want. The graphics are attractive and make the dashboards cool to look at. The dashboards are also easy to read. The mobile app is simple and offers a quick look at analytics on the go.

CONS: My major grouse is I frequently get logged out of the system on both my desktop as well as mobile phone.

PROS: I love the tons of integrations and customizable dashboard widgets. The vendor has improved the charts and I can now create amazing graphs from apps like Google Sheets. I can also overly multiple datasets and select how large I want them on my dashboard.

CONS: The pricing packages could be less expensive. They are dropping a few integrations such as Xero which is a setback for me as we use the tool. Plus, Geckoboard doesn’t integrate with Jira which is another important app we use.

PROS: There are many things to admire about Geckoboard. We use the custom Salesforce widget a lot to write custom queries and pull specific data sets. The interface is intuitive and easy to use. The vendor constantly improves the product by adding new features and integrations. Finally, the app integrates smoothly with popular business systems.

CONS: I would like to see the following improvements: There could be a simpler way to customize the dashboard without needing to upload a CSS file. We should be able to indicate data type such as percentage, currency, etc. when creating a widget. I would also like to see the addition of a drag and drop theme editor.

PROS: I think Geckoboard is an amazing app as it displays complex data in an easy to read manner. I work in the real estate industry and use the system to build dashboards with which I share info with my agents so that they know all the important company figures and stats. The solution also helps me keep track of the sales done by my agents. I use Geckoboard to market our company with our clients. I can easily show our numbers with the dashboards which is an impressive way to showcase our wares and also marks us as a modern real estate company that is ahead of its competitors.

CONS: It was hard to learn to use the system as I needed to create new spreadsheets to use the product properly. The trouble is Geckoboard doesn’t work with moving cells/formulas in existing spreadsheets. So, you need to create fresh sheets and then link Geckoboard to them. The second issue is the difficulty in obtaining custom widgets. You need coding knowledge to use the widgets. I wish the vendor makes it a plug and play system that does not require coding to use the widgets.

PROS: I love that the dashboards are easy to set up and customize. I am also impressed with the top notch customer support.

CONS: The problem with custom styling is it is CSS based which makes it difficult for lay users. I’m not a programmer, but was able to create a custom style sheet by looking at an example. There were mistakes in a couple of line of codes, but the customer support team stepped in and rectified the errors to my satisfaction.

PROS: I appreciate the robust set of widgets that offer a range of view and display options with limitless configurability. Team leaders and managers can get a quick glance at performance and the app helps to eliminate guess work from business decisions. We have a huge screen in our office that displays the Geckoboard dashboard and it gives our employees information on the volume of work they do each day and the work remaining as backlog. This helps them to prioritize, learn about their performance, and schedule for upcoming tasks. We have set up boards that provide our various business units up to date data and information on how they are performing.

CONS: Sometimes, our widgets do not refresh or load properly. But it occurs rarely and we only need to do a page refresh to resolve the issue. I can think of complaining only about this minor glitch and I think even this is because of a network issue and nothing to do with Geckoboard.

PROS: In my opinion, Geckoboard is a simple yet amazing product. It is not easily customizable, but that is more than made up for as it gives you KPIs in an easy to understand manner that helps all our employees know our status and progress in attaining goals. Plus, the mobile app is excellent too.

CONS: My only grouse is the app is not easily customizable. To use it for big things, you need to hire the services of a developer. The customer support team is not useful for building anything.

PROS: For us, connecting to Google Sheets is the most important feature. We also utilize Basecamp. For our customers, we have linked to social media information such as Campaign Monitor, MailChimp, Facebook, and Google Analytics. Mobile access to the system is really helpful. Our management views executive dashboards for important metrics and we’ve taken Geckoboard’s reporting tools and quick access features to our clients who simply love them.

CONS: My only gripe is a few of the customizable widgets are not intuitive. But you can use the support portals to learn additional customizable features.

PROS: I like that the app is fully configurable. You can use custom components for your specific use case. The API is simple and we were able to easily create an API wrapper to show data on various boards. The display is simple and can be easily understood by our employees. We display the data in our meetings, and we get a lot of feedback and comments about the Geckoboard dashboards.

CONS: I wish the grid system was more flexible and fluid. It is difficult to fit everything on our large screen TV so we want a more flexible grid system.
