Overview of InVision Benefits

InVision makes the design and prototyping process easy and painless for companies and their designers. This particular solution provides users with prototyping tools and features that enable them to create better, functional prototypes that they can present their clients. With a clickable prototype, it makes it easy for designers and clients to be on the same page with each other, see the flaws, determine the improvements needed, etc.

Building a prototype from the ground up is relatively fast and easy. Thanks to InVision’s drag and drop functionality, designers can simply drag designs, images, and sketches directly from the source and then put them into InVision’s system. Or designers can opt to retrieve images from online storage services such as Dropbox, Box, and Google Drive.

Collaboration is one of InVision’s strongest attributes. Designers can work individually without any hitch or hassle but can easily communicate with fellow designers and their clients for faster feedback, suggestions, ideas, and more. With InVision, it is easy for users to share links for quick feedback and give instant comments instead of having to share JPGs or PDFs and wait for a response from the other party.

As the prototype have a more realistic feel to it and functions in an actual browser or mobile mockup, clients are able to gain more quality insight into the model’s color, scale, and browser experience.

PROS: It provides the best visibility and analysis for a project before it is complete. Clients and collaborators can join in to discuss about the project during the testing period. It is a great product when you want to showcase what you have done to a client. They will be able to see how the website will be once it is done. InVision allow you to collaborate with other project team members regardless of where you are. You can engage in an interactive conversation where one will leave a question and get a response from another team member. All this makes it easy to successfully complete a project while you involve all parties.

CONS: It can be a difficult product to use. It is not that simple when you want to add clicks and hover effects on your designs. You will need to go around multiple steps before you can make this happen. It is not a direct thing and thus new users may not be able to pull this off. If you wanted to add a clickable link on one page and then a change of color on hover, it can be daunting to execute that. However, it is doable if you know your way around. I would prefer if there was an easier way to pull this off without having to take a lot of time on my part.

PROS: Fast and beneficial prototyping solution that support every kind of files starting from .jpg, .gif, to.png so you won’t run into problem when uploading into project. It offers great integrations with Google drive, dropbox and box so various users can upload and sync files from their cloud storage. Within Invision there is a feature that helps you to share the prototypes with various users using text messages. This improves the interaction with your clients because they are allowed to provide you with quick feedback on subsequent iterations of the screens. Users can focus more on their task instead of wasting time on the app.

CONS: At the beginning I had difficulties for figuring out multiple hotspots and various options that could be done with them, hopefully I have found lot of tutorials on how to better understand the product and solve the problems.

PROS: What I love about Invision is the ability to share a prototype with anyone who is online or to share it directly on my portfolio.

CONS: First of all, the product is not free and it’s not customizable when embed into website. I tried to make some customization but without success. It would be great if they could implement an option for creating interfaces.

PROS: InVision gives you that ability to collaborate well with your team on the same platform. You can do this with your team or clients. It offers space for someone to comment on a particular project and for you to replay once you make changes on that particular element. With such flexibility, teams can work on a project without much hustle while they make the necessary changes according to the requirements of the clients and the project itself. It has a large library where you can build mockups plus the screen preview feature that allows you to view all the screens in tile mode. As a result, designers can view every angle of that project before it is build and thus increase their success rate.

CONS: It definitely has some few glitches here and there which could be ironed out by the developers of this tool. When it comes to using the product on your mobile device, the loading process is very slow. It can delay your workflow and thus I would prefer they fix this to increase workflow when managing projects. Also, for the call to action, it is not possible to add information on the screen which can be frustrating. It would be nice if this feature was introduced to help make everything simple. There are no notifications on the call to actions you are required to take. This means that, if you cannot see the call to actions on the screen, you have to scroll down to find it. Image comments would also be nice to have instead of being limited to text only.

They help with any eye issues I have and I can count on In Vision to help me solve my eye problems. Thank you! Dr. Sorensen and her staff are willing to go out of their way to help me find what I want or need.

CONS: No problems I have experienced. Dr. Sorensen works with my eye doctor from Black Hills Eye Institute to help me deal with any eye issues. Communication with In Vision is clear and easy to reach them, and they give answers quickly.

PROS: Invision is great product for creating prototypes without any effort, all you have to do is to upload a photo, put hotspots on it and there you have it. The process is so much simple. You can even prototype desktop and mobile apps, even tablet apps you can even demo them on actual devices. There is no coding nor magic, simple as that.

CONS: I can’t find option for setting up reusable screens and hotspots. In my opinion they could improve the hotspot templates.

PROS: InVision is united, centralized and quick solution for uploading screen, connecting mock-ups and getting basic functionalities. Everything depends on your work and how much effort you put into prototypes, and building things, if you work hard you can easily validate important insights in UX process, take things much further into hI-Fi mock ups and even use screen management options. The feedback system will keep you motivated so you can use same tools for design process.

CONS: Screens are motionless. It would be great if I could edit some elements into the layer system, to swap in and out, to animate it.

PROS: Finally a product that would help me to create fast prototypes by using screens with end-to-end users. I love the add-to-home screen feature because I am able to test the prototype on my mobile device. Users cannot put any data entry within the prototype but I can test it in early stages. Liveshare is great feature for interacting with team members from all around the world. The process of making hotspot and linking to various screens is an easy process.

CONS: If you use it for free then you will have only 3 prototypes. It would be great if they could provide special software for desktop users for creating high-quality prototypes.

PROS: It is simple but powerful tool for your workflow. If you are into design, then this tool will work well to help you execute according to the requirements of the project. It has a simple user experience where if you know your way around it, you will be able to be successful in your projects. You can manage teams and collaborate with them in a professional and efficient manner. You do not have to waste time calling the web development team as you can send a link to them with all the details of interactions and web flow so that they can work on the changes.

CONS: It is good but with the current add-ons for features, it is becoming a complex tool to use. I am used to the simple features that I take pride in using on a frequent basis. There is no need for that complexity as it makes things difficult for users. I would prefer if they asked first before including a feature in this product. Also, for the features that are simple to use, they are becoming more complicated with those upgrades which is a major drawback. Other than that, I am happy with how the tool works and this can be seen with how seamless the workflow is on my end.

PROS: Everyone in our team love the ability to write comments on the design. Whenever we have some questions or notes about something all we have to do is to switch the comment mode and to pin the comment into the question area, so it becomes minor comment thread and others are able to provide us with answers. When we finish with the discussion we mark the thread as “completed” and we are done.

CONS: The platform is new and I have seen some glitches now and then. We have run into placeholders for text where {{project name}} and {{user name}} appear instead of actual user and project name. Also, we don’t use its feature that is for creating prototypes because it’s tricky for app.

PROS: I can easily put all the pieces from slides, I can use more advanced file types instead of those that are basic. You don’t need to convert huge amount of images for uploading because the product supports AI and PSDs. I’m using it for wire framing up website mock ups and linking slides. I like the template option and ability to add same link locations. I can easily share my ideas with others.

CONS: I believe that Invsion has many things to offer I haven’t use all its features yet. I use its features as I work so I cannot really say that I have something to dislike by now.

PROS: Invision is a product that helps you to make simple mockup that main focus will be on workflow instead of interactivity. It’s easy to use and there are numerous videos that would help you to better understand and use Invision, you can find lot of tutorials in order to learn how to use its features. I can easily import mockups from Adobe Photoshop by using the file-folder and naming conventions that are suggested by this product. It is even easier if you use the Sketch. You can even share prototype via email or copying a link, recipients are allowed to leave comments on screens and this is helpful for expanding the collaboration with them. You can present workflow to non-techy clients and trust me that everyone can understand the prototype. I often use the social share to upload screens into my portfolio.

CONS: I’m waiting for connection with Behance and social share. I would like to see options for organizing screens, because it’s a tiny chaos with all those screens.

I love the comments feature it is highly useful because provides me with important information about who, when and what they’re talking about. I can easily find out what everyone thinks.

CONS: It takes much time to put everything together and there is no option for mapping. I have to upload a work that’s done and it doesn’t allow fast prototyping. It takes long time to link the mocks together. All in all, it’s great and useful tool only if your work is approved by stakeholders.

PROS: Invision implemented new plugins for sketch and I really like them. It makes my work easier. I am able to change swatches quickly, I can syncs from sketch to this product. It offers a blog that is full with helpful info of how to use the product or how to create prototypes easily, and many other tricks and tips. I use the pin points for notes and they are really helpful. I can’t wait to see what’s next.

CONS: I have experienced that the website can be slowly and takes some time to load the art boards. Also, the syncs from sketch are not in order, they are usually backwards or messed up. Sometimes I have difficulties when reading the links on the page. I really think that they need to improve the syncs in order to reduce time. In addition, I would like to see an option for grouping art boards in Sketch and syncs into Invision instead of categorizing into its website.

PROS: It changed how we carried out our digital work altogether. Before InVision, we were all over the place in terms of how we tested our designs and presented them to clients. We now have everything we need to create quality designs according to the requirements of our clients. When it comes to user testing or our designs and wireframes, InVision does it for us. We can test them on the website and gain more insight on where we are going wrong or need to improve with our designs. The good thing with this product is that they keep adding newer and better features that address many issues the previous versions had. For example, the screen design prototypes, and Inspect among others.

CONS: It is all good with this product. I cannot think of anything that I did not like about it. It has changed the game for us in terms of how we conduct our digital work including project designs and testing. Clients are able to see our designs before we present the final one. Through this InVision has come out as a reliable tool that works to make wok easier if not better. However, I have one concern which is not related to the functionality of the product. Am worried that it may be bought by Adobe and thus deteriorate in its functions. This would be a disaster and I hope I am wrong.

PROS: It has increased our workflow between departments and within. We are able to collaborate as a team without much hustle. With seamless support for all our design and marketing works InVision has given us a lifeline on that part. We are able to cut on the time it takes for the design and marketing teams to collaborate on a project. The prototyping aspect of this product is impressive. It allows all the teams to see how a project will look like in terms of the pages before it is actually built. With that kind of exposure and visibility, we cannot ask for more. InVision is a must have product for any company, big or small, involved in design.

CONS: It is a comprehensive tool and I love every bit of what it has to offer. However, the cost can be overwhelming as the price is not fixed. You have to pay based on the features you are using. This can be costly on my part and for those with small businesses and want to utilize most of the features this product offers. Also, some of the people on my team may not receive this application well. Most people are resistant to change and this can bring problems when implementing this product into your system. All in all, the above are just negligible when compared to what heights you can scale using InVision and I am happy in general.

PROS: It is an application that makes things work. When you compare with other tools in the market, InVision is the best I have used. I like the LiveShare functionality that comes with this product. It provides a great way to share the designs in real time with collaborators and clients. Also, the commenting features works properly on my part. It allows the comments to be emailed instantly such that, you have more time to make changes them on the go. This saves the time and effort and thus reliable in a great way. It is a prototyping program to growth and since I started using it, it has been bliss all along.

CONS: There is a lot to improve when it comes to InVision. Although it provides seamless support in terms of creating prototype design projects, there is a lot to be done in terms of its functionality. It does not allow you to invite multiple persons in a single item of a project so that they can collaborate effectively on the same. It would be better if such functionality was available as it would help collaborators to work better on an item. This makes the workflow not that smooth and thus the need for that development. Also, instead of a checklist, I would prefer the use of time and dates for tasks you are working on in a project.

PROS: It has come out a prototyping tool to work with. We have seen a lot from it as the workflow has been seamless. We can now upload designs we have already done, to the website, and have them reviewed by collaborators. It is that simple when you have InVision. This helps you to know if you are on the right track in terms of the requirements of the project. Collaborators can put in their questions and comment on the prototype with ease which will give room to make changes within a short period. In short, there are minimal delays since communication is efficient and to the point.

CONS: The prototyping tools for this program are not that intuitive. They are difficult to use especially when you change the art boards no and then. It may disappoint you if you are dealing with clients rather than an internal team of collaborators. This is because whenever you create clickable links and then change the art boards, the links break. Good for me, I only deal with an internal team of collaborators and thus I do not see the need to create the clickable links. If it was the other case, then I would have a hard time using this product for my work.

PROS: Invison is simply to use, it works with screenshots of screens of an app or even website. The user is allowed to add a hotspot (it moves the user to another screen. Transitions and hotspots can be created easily and they are very effective to functional website or apps. The good thing is that they can be viewed into full screen on a mobile device. I can easily share projects for review with Windows, Mac, iPhone or Android users.

CONS: It would be great if they could include a feature for adding hotspots to each screen at once automatically instead of manually. Its free version allows you to upload as many projects as you want but the premium can be used if you want to delete something. Additionally, I have experienced some issues during transition when testing on mobile device. If you want to make underlined text when clicking then you will need to create and upload a screenshot.

PROS: It is a great tool all-round when undertaking a design project. It helps you to create prototype of the actual design and present it to the customers and your project team so that they know what to expect. InVision helps all the teams and the clients to interact actively and chip in while they ask questions using the prototype you have presented to them. The fact that it integrates well with storage tools such as Box, Dropbox, and Google Drive makes it possible for users to synch their files easily. Also, it supports a wide range of files such as GIF, JPEG, and PNG among others. This gives you the utmost flexibility on how you can upload your files. It has a simple user interface which only highlights the important aspect of what this product has to offer.

CONS: It was difficult to get started with this product. At first, I was stuck as I could not find my way around using the screen part of the product. The multiple hotspots were difficult to hack which was frustrating on my part. It would have been great if the developers of InVision included some of the tips or helpful tutorials on each aspect of what the product has to offer. This would help new users to know what they are supposed to do once they come across such a problem. Luckily, I explored their blog and found video tutorials which helped me to get over that and find my way around.
