What is WiseTrack?

WiseTrack is an easy-to-configure and comprehensive suite of asset tracking solutions which provides organizations and companies in various industries an intelligent way to track their assets, equipment, and inventory. Among these industries are education, government, law enforcement and military, entertainment, energy, shipping, and museum. WiseTrack is designed with an easy-to-use and flexible interface, adapting to the asset tracking needs of both newbies and advanced users.

Moreover, WiseTrack  organizes all information and data related to assets, equipment, and stocks in a central database built based on MySQL Because of this, users will be able to easily collect, record, update, and retrieve data as they perform asset management and tracking. The asset tracking software solution supports and leverages best-in-class technologies so users can apply and take advantage of the excellent methods and practices when it comes to tracking their assets. WiseTrack allows asset tracking using RFID or Radio-Frequency Identification and barcode scanning. These are technologies and methods wherein electromagnetic-enabled or barcoded labels or tags are assigned to assets, equipment, and stocks. Then, the pieces of information stored within  the labels or tags are read by RFID readers or barcode scanners.

WiseTrack also delivers mobile asset tracking  solutions which enable users to set up their own data collection and update programs that contain customizable fields which can be used for performing asset and equipment inventories, audits, transfers or movements, and maintenance activities; extend RFID capabilities to mobile computers,  use portable or handheld barcode scanners, and gather and modify asset data and details in real time from any location using mobile phones.

Overview of WiseTrack Benefits

Store And Organize All Asset Lifecycle Information In One Place

One of the prominent feature of WiseTrack is that it is an asset tracking software solution designed to simplify the way users organize and track all information related to their assets throughout the entire asset lifecycle management process. Whether they are capturing, storing, and searching for data associated with the purchase, warranty, location, or maintenance of their assets, WiseTrack provides a central place where they can organize all asset information.

Central Database Built Through The MySQL Server

But how does WiseTrack centalize all asset information in one place? The asset tracking software  has a web-based application called WiseTrack Core, the main program in WiseTrack’s suite of asset and equipment software solutions. This program has a database which is built using the MySQL Server. Thus, all asset information are stored within the MySQL Server database, providing users with a single and central source of truth for all their asset tracking needs.

Create Asset Data Collection Programs And Routines

WiseTrack Core enables users to set up data collection programs and routines so they can easily capture and update asset information. The program allows them to select data fields from the MySQL Server database. After that, they can arrange these data fields in any order they want and create drop-down licks or pick-lists.  They can even create their own data fields. Once they’re done building their data fields and data collection programs and routines, they can then implement such programs and routines on rugged devices that support RFID or barcode scanning, portable Motorola scanners and handheld devices, and smartphones.

As the data collection programs and routines are applied on these devices, users will be able to add new assets, access information related to the movement of assets, streamline the checking out of assets, track the persons who are currently using their assets and the locations where they are being used, and capture asset maintenance details. In addition, whatever data they captured or changed using the devices connected to WiseTrack are updated throughout the web-based application and its database in real time and synchronized across all the connected devices.

Leverage RFID Asset Tracking Technologies

The asset tracking solution utilizes advanced asset tracking technologies and methods, and one of them is the RFID or Radio-Frequency Identification Technology. RFID is an asset tracking technology that uses radio waves to transmit data embedded on tags or labels assigned to assets. A reader also known as interrogator captures the radio waves from the tags or labels and converts the data they are transmitting to a more usable information. Unlike barcode scanning wherein the tags or labels need to be pointed directly to the barcode reader, RFID can capture data without the need to align the tag or label with the RFID reader, allowing the scanning and reading of data outside the line-of-sight of the reader.

RFID tags or labels are classified into two: active and passive RFID tags or labels. An active RFID tag is comprised of a built-in power source, allowing it to transmit data at all times. Also, active RFID tags have longer read distances. On the other hand, an passive RFID tag doesn’t have a built-in power source; rather the coiled RFID antenna within the the tag is energized by radio waves coming from the RFID reader. This enables the tag to form electromagnetic fields and transmit the embedded information to the reader.

Enhance Asset Visibility And Gain Business Insights Into Assets

WiseTrack allows users to utilize different RFID-enabled devices, RFID tags, and RFID antennas so they can achieve better asset visibility and gain business insights into their assets. This means they can take advantage of RFID technologies to track and update the location of their assets and equipment, and monitor all costs associated with them.

Best-In-Class Barcode Scanning

Aside from RFID asset tracking, WiseTrack also supports asset tracking through barcode scanning. The solution can work with the corded 1D Linear imagers from Motorola. These are best-in class scanners which are designed for harsh usage and extreme weather conditions, making them a truly rugged, reliable, and fast barcode scanners. Users simply need to connect them to a PC or laptop via a USB cable. In addition, WiseTrack supports portable barcode scanners and mobile computers that have barcode scanning capabilities.

Barcode scanning is a widely used method for tracking assets, equipment, and stocks. Because WiseTrack effectively implements this method, users can easily add new assets, manage asset changes and movements, and perform asset check-out workflows quickly and accurately.

Mobile Asset Management And Tracking

WiseTrack has a mobile asset tracking solution called WiseTrack Mobility Server. This is an advanced server that permits users to directly connect their mobile devices to the WiseTrack system, including to the MySQL server database where all their asset information are stored. Interestingly, a connection can be established through a wireless network or cellular data. As a result, asset information can be easily accessed and updated right straight from smartphones and mobile devices anywhere.
