Hightail Review

PROS: With Hightail we can quickly and easily share large files with clients and colleagues and this is especially important in video-production world. I have clients that want to see a rough draft of a project and we are able to provide them with a link of the project or we are using it for uploading footage for editors as well. It is great collaborative tool that allows us to share files with one another.

CONS: I don’t have issues with this tool, it is highly helpful for sharing large video files.

PROS: Hightail has great security tools so they can make better user experience while transferring the documents and files. The UI is simple and straightforward, it offers easy to use tool and informative notifications. It works great and effectively without any bugs or issues.

CONS: It doesn’t support many common file types so this limits the user experience. In addition, the log-in process can be frustrating if the user is not familiar with it. And other thing that I don’t like about this tool is the fact that it doesn’t allow me to view a file before downloading it.

PROS: It offers an efficient platform on which you can upload files with ease. They can be organized in such a way that finding them is fast and simple. You can access the link to where your files are with ease download them without much hustle.

CONS: I was happy with how Hightail delivered to my needs. Although I did not find anything unusual or a limitation, it was probably because I used the basic features. It might have some things that need improving when you get to the advanced features.

PROS: I like that it provides security measurements that allow you to create safe place for sharing important documents and files. I especially like its unlimited storage and bandwidth features. After all, the program is easy to use and straightforward.

CONS: I don’t like that it doesn’t show the size of a file when uploading it and it has poor mobile support. Also, it has some limited range of files.

PROS: It has come off as a reliable tool in transferring large files that emails cannot handle. When you have clients who do not have enough space for the large files you intend to send them, you can use Hightail to achieve your objective. It has a user friendly interface, which means you can easily learn and get started right away.

CONS: Although they have a free version, it is limited in terms of the size of the files you are allowed to send. Apart from that, billing is automated and thus bills you without your permission. In trying out the free version, they request your credit card information, which does not make sense altogether.

PROS: It is easy to use for both the end user and back-end users making it a reliable tool for your customers and staff you use in sending files. You can send files in multiple channels including through the app and website. This offers flexibility of access to the files by your clients depending on their needs. It has built-in reporting features that help you to keep track of the activities of the end user regarding the files you send them.

CONS: There are bugs in the duration the files take to upload before sending them. It shows delays in the upload process. However, the tool has proved to offer reliable services when it comes to sending large files of up to 2GB.

PROS: HighTail is easy to use and it has simple interface and we haven’t experienced any problem with downloading files from our customers’ link. I tried other solution but I had issues with downloading process and they don’t give you a warning that the problem exists. Thankfully, I haven’t experienced any kind of issues with this tool.

CONS: Within 3 years of using this program we had only one issue with uploading a file and we haven’t experienced this since then.

PROS: It eliminates delays as it is easy to use and you can send files to recipients faster. It offers no limitations regarding of the file size you send or receive, which means you do not have to resize the file before sending. The quality of the files is also maintained throughout the process. The Express app allows you to track what you send to recipients regarding the timeline and which files you send them.

CONS: At times, you can send a file but fails to deliver on the other end. This prompts you to resend the file to the recipient and thus a drawback. For the name, it does not complement the product but this is a non-issue as it functions well.

PROS: Little or no training is required to use this tool. It has a simple layout and when downloading files, you only have to click the link that comes up. Customers can send links to files they want you to have via Hightail and download them smoothly without issues. When compared with other sites that offer the similar functions, Hightail gives a clean and error free download process.

CONS: The issues with this tool are limited as it offers quality transfer of files. However, a one-time case, there was an issue uploading a file on the system and that was it. Other than that, it has been smooth all along.

PROS: I use this solution weekly as a work-around for clients that have some limits on size email they receive. We are able to send large files and photos that cannot be send otherwise. It is simple, intuitive and easy to use tool, it provides link for download and your job is done.

CONS: I’m using its free version but I still think that limit of 250MB for a file is sufficient size to make most of my transfer.

PROS: The process of sending files through Hightail is simple and intuitive one. As a graphic designer we often work with large files that cannot be send through email. With a link I am able to send large file and to be sure that those files are safe and secure. I like the instructional video when entering the site.

CONS: I don’t have dislikes about this program, it works great for now.

PROS: The fact that it is simple to use and set up makes things easier. It provides a report on the number of files you have sent to your clients or received and the activities around. You get to know how many times the client has clicked on the link or downloaded the files. You can also control the time the file will be available for download, who can download, and how many times it can be downloaded. It is cloud-based, which means that you can store your files and documents safely in the cloud and access them from anywhere.

CONS: Communication on the issues, with the system is not clear and thus hard to know when there is a problem and when the problem will be solved. All you are left to do is to try now and then only to be frustrated since the system is still down and there is no formal communication on when it will be up again.

PROS: I have found this tool highly useful especially when I have to send secure files or too large files. I like that I can upload files and share them with my customers in more secure way with password included. I like the ability to see how long files remain available for download.

CONS: It would be great if they could include an interactive calendar that would show dates files when they are sent and notification for expiring file dates.

PROS: In handling large files, Hightail offers the right platform. It integrates well with Outlook, which means you do not have to switch to another screen when transferring files. The set up and administration is easy, which adds to its simplicity. You can manage users by either adding them or deleting them from your account and thus portrays a professional look.

CONS: The name can be hard to remember since it was changed from You-Send-It. Apart from that, users from China cannot access this tool due to the restrictions by the government of China, which is not on the developers of the product but the government. All in all, Hightail has proven to be the best alternative in its function.

PROS: It allows for easy update of files for our clients. Where file transfer is involved and you are running a business, you need to be confidential by investing in a secure tool. Hightail offers that security and confidential for the files we send and receive. It keeps everything organized giving our business the needed boost.

CONS: The software crashes, at times, which can be annoying and slows down everything. The issues with the app not being compatible with certain firewalls makes it waste some time before it can get started. This proves to be a drawback all the same.

PROS: The ease of use of the tool makes it reliable to all our customers. Since we are involved in sending and receiving files from clients, Hightail has become a key figure in our work. It gives a professional look as we can transfer files and know when the customer has clicked on the link to the file.

CONS: When you look at the design of Hightail and compare it with that of Dropbox, it is not that appealing. However, the functionality and features of the tool are a top-notch with regard to the experiences we have had.

PROS: It integrates or brings together multiple files, automatically, for fast download and upload durations. You can customize them according to your needs and end user experience. It has an attractive and detailed Dashboard, which is organized to help you get acquainted with the system faster.

CONS: It is impossible to redirect uploads to the admin and thus bugs in the operation of the system. Large files experience breaks at times when uploading and when the issue is debugged, you have to start all over again. It is not the case with systems like FTP which allows you to resume with the upload once such a technicality occurs. Also, there is no section where you can reset your password making it frustrating when you forget it.
