FileCloud Review

FileCloud
Our score: 8.8 User satisfaction: N/A

What is FileCloud?

FileCloud is a software solution that provides a robust and secure file hosting and sharing platform for organizations of all sizes and industries.

Developed by CodeLathe technologies, FileCloud gives users the option to save and share files on a self-hosted server or the web-based platform. Both self-hosted and FileCloud online automatically sync files from computers to the version of FileCloud server that you have. With this feature, backing up your data will be the least of your worries; all you have to do is set the schedule of when FilCloud should auto-sync your local files.

You can also use FileCloud to collaborate with your business partners and even clients by giving them access to space specifically created for this purpose. In this space, you can share specific files and/or folders your partners or clients are allowed to access while remaining in control of the rest.

Multiple integrations with various applications and add-ons make FileCloud a flexible file sharing, backup, and software solution. And with its remote access feature and compatibility with mobile devices, FileCloud provides utmost accessibility, especially for users on the go.

Overview of FileCloud Benefits

FileCloud provides features and tools beneficial to various industries such as advertising, accounting, communications, consulting, construction, design, machinery, finance, healthcare, even government and non-government organizations, and more. These benefits include:

Complete Admin Control

FileCloud gives administrator robust tools to manage and monitor thousands of users, millions of files, and even multiple sites. These tools allow administrators to create specific workflows and policies, as well as settings to streamline the process of user, file, and site management.

Built-in Business Intelligence

This gathers accurate data and other information necessary for generating analytics and reports. Administrators also have the ability to view and access snapshots of usage trends, access by location, content type, etc. through the admin dashboard.

Accessibility

You can access FileCloud in multiple ways including through web browser and browser add-ons, WebDAV, mobile applications, sync client, and a mapped virtual drive.

Sharing and Backup

Share multiple files and multilevel folders easily. You can also share your files publicly, which can be password protected so only those who know the code will be able to access the files you shared. Files shared privately, on the other hand, will only be available to users with permission access using their FileCloud accounts.

Customization

Apply your own branding to your FileCloud server by customizing your URL, email communications, logo, font, background image, and even terms of service.

Multiple Integrations

FileCloud integrates with various applications, plugin, and add-ons such as Microsoft Office, Gmail, Outlook, Zapier, and existing user home directories.

Advanced Features

For enterprises with large-scale deployments, FileCloud offers features that cover multi-tenancy, workflow automation, replicating branch office, as well as customization of complex workflow and system requirements via APIs and third-party integrations.

What Problems Will FileCloud Solve?

Problem #1: Adhering to security standards

Solution: A government department is required to meet the industry and government standards of data protection and security. Upon doing their research, they determine that a strong security policy is what they need in order to create secured systems and networks as well as keep data safe. FileCloud can resolve this problem by incorporating two-factor authentication into the government department’s system to reinforce access security.

Problem #2: Sharing files with external partners

Solution: Company A wants to give its clients access to files without giving them access to the company’s internal system. The file sharing solution Company A uses, however, does not support external sharing. In situations such as this, FileCloud addresses this concern with its capability to provide separate sharing solution for both internal and external needs.

Problem #3: Lack of Proper Cloud Storage

Solution: A department does not have a proper and systematic process of backing up files and data. Backups are saved in computer hard drives and removable external drives, which does not only increases security risk but also the chances of data loss. FileCloud addresses this issue by providing a centralized cloud location where the department can migrate all their back up files not only for security purposes but also for accessibility.

PROS: When it comes to this tool, I definitely appreciate a number of things about it. First off, I only need one click to share a wide variety of files, whether it's a PDF, a document, or an image. It works really fast, as well. I also like the integration with other servers used for file sharing. The cloud service is also exceptional, allowing us to not just store files, but also access them wherever we may be. Finally, I love the added security of being able to add manual password protection to the files we upload.

CONS: I think the process of adding contacts to share the file with could be more intuitive and user-friendly. But other than that, we have no problems with this tool.

PROS: The fact that it lets me share databases, images, documents, and other kinds of files is something that I really appreciate. I also like how it allows me to work remotely so I can send files to teammates wherever I may be and wherever my teammates are. I also like the security feature that allows me to lock something with a password of my choosing.

CONS: The file sharing process could be less complex. I can imagine beginners becoming discouraged with the file sharing process because it can get a bit complicated.

PROS: i like how easy it is to share a wide variety of files with this tool, be it an image, a document, or a PDF file. The interface is user-friendly and flexible, and allows for many different kinds of sharing. I also really appreciate how we could use any device to access the files we've stored in cloud servers. Another feature I appreciate is how this tool integrates with other file sharing servers, which just makes it work more robustly and efficiently. Finally, I also like how we can manually determine who can access the files we have stored.

CONS: I think the process to add a contact to a file that is being shared could be made more user-friendly and intuitive. I also think that improvements can be made with the customer service team, since they don't always give you the answers you need on time.

PROS: I think this tool is really innovative and useful, and there are a number of things that I really like about it. For one thing, this tool has really made file synchornization and sharing more secure and fluid, so you really don't have to worry as a user. Commercial data can be shared and stored with this tool, but what I really like is how I can use my mobile devices to access those files, as well as the assurance that a backup exists. I like the simplicity of its interface and how you only need to go through a few clicks to get to where you want. But I think what really sets this tool apart is how it gives its users accessibility without compromising security. I can use a web browser or a web browser plug-in, or I can use the app they have for mobile devices. I can even use a virtual disk. I also appreciate that it works with 256-bit AES and other modern encryption methods. It also complies with industry standards such as TLS/SS; secure tunnels when it comes to content storage. Another thing that I like is how it also comes with data leak prevention, antivirus scanning, and two-factor authentication functionality.

CONS: One of the things that I don't like is the high price tag of this tool, mostly because it targets businesses rather than individual users. You only have two weeks if you're going to use the free version, and you have to request for that. Unless you can justify the cost somehow, i don't think even small businesses can afford it.

PROS: There are a number of things that I love about FileCloud. First off, it works really fast, so none of my time is wasted and I don't encounter any unnecessary delays. It has helped me out a lot when it comes to file storage, and it has helped in making retrieval and authentication of files an easier process. As a storage solution, I really find it effective and wouldn't hesitate to recommend it to others.

CONS: I know that this comes with a user guideline, but I have to say that it is still difficult to get used to it when you're someone who is using it for the first time. It can get a little complicated, and it's not something that you want for your institution. Maybe they can make it more user-friendly in future versions.
