What is Ramp?

Ramp is a cutting-edge corporate card and expense management platform with automated solutions for spend management, vendor payments, accounting automation, and vendor management. The system is designed to help companies of all sizes and from various industries simplify their finances and make smarter financial decisions while saving time and money. Streamlining the expense and approval processes of users, Ramp carries AI-powered functionalities that simplify expense reports. It automates expense categorization and automatically matches receipts with the corresponding listed transactions, eliminating manual data entry in preparing bills.

Beyond expense management, Ramp leverages its AI engine to inject efficiency into your financial operations. Through Ramp Bill Pay, the platform automates the entire AP processing workflow while affording users control over user roles, payments, and approvals. It also consolidates all bill payment options, enables teams to designate approval layers for automated approval routing, and automatically links bills and payments to the ERP or accounting software you use thanks to its integration with over a thousand business applications.

Ramp grants you full visibility over your expenses on the interface’s dashboard, providing a macro view of all spending activities. It populates detailed reports on various financial trends and data, including spending increases, duplicate subscriptions, and unused partner rewards. Moreover, the platform automates travel procedures, streamlines reimbursement processes, tracks bills, and provides sophisticated tools for vendor management.

Ramp is free to use and takes in an unlimited number of corporate and virtual cards. It integrates with numerous widely used business applications like Gmail, Slack, Amazon Business, Netsuite, Quickbooks, Google SSO, and Outlook. Android and iOS users can download Ramp’s mobile app, which carries the functionalities of its web-based counterpart.

Ramp has recently adjusted its qualification requirements to make its services more accessible to a broader range of businesses. Now, companies only need at least $50,000 in a U.S. business bank account (down from the previous $75,000) to qualify for Ramp. Additionally, qualified businesses must be registered in the U.S. and be corporations, limited liability companies, or limited partnerships (nonprofits are also eligible). Sole proprietors and other unregistered business types are currently not eligible. The business operations and corporate spending must primarily be within the U.S., although Ramp does support international transactions.

Overview of Ramp Benefits

Simplified Expense Reports

Ramp’s corporate card and spend management platform makes it easy for employees and finance departments to track spending. Ramp automates manual work and streamlines expense reports, allowing employees to spend more time doing what they do best. In addition, the platform automatically matches receipts with the right transactions.

Automated Approval Workflows

Ramp allows teams to set up automatic approval routing for bills. Teams can design approval layers that automate routing by using customizable rules and conditions. The platform also automatically sends notifications to ensure timely payments.

Smart Receipt Matching

Ramp leverages AI-powered technology to automatically gather and match receipts to the correct transaction, which makes the process far less painless. In addition, Ramp collects and matches receipts from widely used business apps like Gmail, Lyft, and Amazon and enables users to send receipts by text or through the mobile app.

Automatic Invoice Recording

Ramp uses optical character recognition to extract essential information from vendor invoices. The software converts invoice data into invoices in seconds, reducing human labor and the possibility of human error. Bills are automatically matched with general ledger categories to ensure consistency across platforms.

Powerful Analytics

With AI as the backbone of its central functionalities, Ramp generates reports on the interface’s dashboard that present all kinds of financial data, including accounting reports, savings reports, and transactional records. You can use its search and filtering functions to isolate and underscore data types relevant to your operations.

Free Expense Management

All of Ramp’s major features are absolutely free to use. It also doesn’t have any limit on the number of corporate cards supported.  You won’t need to worry about software subscription fees, usage caps, and expenses for using sophisticated technology such as AI and automated functionalities.
