GNU RCS (Revision Control System) is a platform that automates the storing, retrieval, logging, identification, and merging of revisions. The technology manages multiple file changes and is revised frequently to update source codes, programs, documentations, graphics, papers, and form letters.
GNU RCS follows Source Code Control System (SCCS), with improvements such as a simplified user interface and improved storage of versions to enable faster retrieval. RCS improves performance by storing an entire copy of the most recent version and then stores reverse differences (called “deltas”).
