What is LeanKit?

LeanKit  is a highly flexible platform designed for the practical implementation of Kanban. It provides a real-time, shared understanding of activity and status, making it the ideal tool to manage both project and process work.

How LeanKit works: it creates a visual model of your team’s work and workflow that’s unlike those shown in list-based tools. The intuitive software provides a single, consolidated view of the work that teams can easily access and interact with across multiple locations, devices, and systems.

The built-in collaboration features make it easy to ask questions and share status updates. Teams can display their LeanKit boards on a touchscreen monitor to collaborate on work planning and execution.

Overview of LeanKit Benefits

Read on to learn about the numerous LeanKit benefits:

LeanKit enables teams to visualize the official workflow using virtual Kanban boards.Use vertical lanes to visualize each step in the workflow and horizontal swimlanes to represent parallel processes on the same board. As the process changes, easily modify the board layout to ensure that it accurately reflects the steps the team follows to get work done.

Built-in collaboration features make it easy to ask questions and share status updates. Many teams also display their LeanKit boards on a touchscreen monitor to collaborate on work planning and execution.

LeanKit can easily be accessed anytime, anywhere from a browser or mobile device. Mobile apps for iOS and Android let you enables updating, checking of work status, and adding comments while on the go. Any changes made from your mobile device are instantly visible to the entire team.

Since  work items are visually represented as cards, you can instantly see what’s being worked on, who’s doing the work, and how and when it needs to be done. Making the work visible — along with blockers, bottlenecks, and expedites — gives the team a shared understanding of project activity and status.

With LeanKit’s tiered board approach, team leaders are able to visualize team initiatives at a high level and then drill through to the implementation board to see the associated work details. It keeps track of the subtasks for each work item using task boards.

In terms of metrics, powerful reporting and analytics help identify opportunities for continuous improvement. Both team level and enterprise roll-up reporting are available, with the option to combine LeanKit data with other company data to support custom reporting needs.

LeanKit easily integrates with other systems. It can synchronize projects between JIRA, MS Visual Studio/TFS and MS Visual Studio Online, MS Project Server, GitHub and Oracle Primavera. In addition, more than 250 pre-built integrations with favorite web apps — such as Google, Salesforce and Zendesk — are available through Zapier.

Pros:
I can make cards for people to see what they're working on and the progress of their work.

Cons:
There have been times when you have to wait for other teams to wrap up their tasks.

Pros:
The platform's task choices and color-coded cards makes it easy to use. It also quickly recognizes workflow on varying teams and projects. Its filtering system lets you look into certain tasks.

Cons:
The system would seem a bit flimsy when multiple tasks are put together. Leaving the page open frequently entails constant refreshing to make sure each card is updated for users.

What's bet with LeanKit is their "progress" display. Since I'm a designer, visual cues come first. I'm also able to see quickly where a project is through our boards.
