Targetprocess Review

PROS: I work as a user-experience director, and I really enjoy my job. I put the customer first in every situation, and Targetprocess helps me do that even better than before. Due the nature of the services I am providing, I was able to recognize the passion of the software's developers, and I knew instantly that they had focused on the needs of users as myself. This was such a crucial discovery that I didn't even consider the value of the product, but the software project features convinced me even more: Targetprocess is equipped with thoughtful microinteractions, natural and intuitive navigation, and performance as close to the ideal as you could imagine. They invested so much effort to create it that it is just unbelievable!

CONS: What could I possibly find in such detailed software? It seems like they took care of everything! I would have to analyse it for months in order to find a tiny nit to pick on. OK, let's say it is the lack of a filter that selects all entities at once when you modify dates (but trust me, you can live without it!).

PROS: First of all, I love its fundamental value and the fact that the team behind this product love their users and do their best in order to provide best user experience. Wonderful microinteractions are all over the product. And it feels natural to the users when they click or manipulate something.

CONS: I don’t have lot of dislikes about it. One minor thing that I would call “dislike” is that there is no option to create a filter that could select all entities such as: epics, features, user stories and bugs.

PROS: What I like most about TargetProcess is the concept of board with its customizable cards. We are using it for few years and we haven’t experienced major issues with this software and this is great because we are using it on a daily basis. It provides us with flexibility and wonderful set of features so we can better manage our cycles.

CONS: The tool meets all our needs, they constantly provide us with new features. I cannot really say that I have dislikes about it.

PROS: I recommend this tool to anyone who needs perfect product and project management solution. I like that this tool supports agile methodologies and has great customizable GUI with multiple variations so you can have better experience while working on your projects. It has great user community that is helpful for new users to learn the product best. Also, the support team is wonderful, they constantly ask their users to participat in questionaries so they can work on product improvements.

CONS: When refreshing pattern of modal views it seems like there are some bugs.

PROS: We have changed our process multiple time in last 3 years, and this tool handles all our changes, works and projects. It is easy to use, intuitive and it offers great set of options so you can better manage your workflow. The other good thing about it is that it is customizable product.

CONS: Targetprocess can be a bit slower when it comes to creating multiple tasks. Also, because it has lto of customizability it takes some time to figure out the benefits of this software.

PROS: I am the biggest fan of TP! I started using it three and a half years ago, while I was still working for a different company, and it was the first thing I recommended to my employer upon my arrival here, something like a year ago. Well, if you're looking for your boss's attention, that's the way to go :) Joke aside, an incredibly configurable software, expanding in directions not even developers anticipated. Very flexible, even beautiful, hosting service impecable...Just few days ago they informed us on a new package of features, and i can't wait to see what the fuss is all about!

CONS: Nothing, nothing, nothing! I just wish I was more patient not to bother hosts for new features.

PROS: We use Target Process for more than 3 years and over those 3 years we managed to change the development structure and process so now we have lot of developers into multiple teams in several departments. Everyone in our company loves the changes we have made thanks to TP.

CONS: The tool needs to be stronger when it comes to handling new requests from our stakeholders. Also, they haven’t updated the Helpdesk tool which is made for this types of questions.

PROS: The support team is amazing and highly responsive. I’m very satisfied with its LiveChat sessions. They always provide support for tech issues and helps us to get things done. The product is simple and easy to use, it doesn’t require trainings. I like its new features and development cycles they keep the software reliable and robust.

CONS: It doesn’t work well with IE11 and it needs more support for Microsoft products.

PROS: We chose this great project manager to organize the mass project load we deal with every day. I mean, the number of project was never an issue, but methodology was: we had to approach each project in a different way, and to use a different workflow. TP's secret is customization, not just referring to the program as a whole, but to each feature separately. We transform it in the craziest ways, which is why I dare to claim I've never worked with a more stable product. Best of all-knowledgeable team willing to answer every question! I wish at least half of software developers were as responsive as they are!

CONS: Not that much, maybe few improvements for the future. I think there are mnay features we're not utilizing, and they could hide them for the sake of clarity, nothing else. Probably we could even do it ourselves.

PROS: Targetprocess is the revolution of workflow boards, something like a combination of Trello and advanced project managers and tracking systems. You put data inside, slice it the way it suits your needs, and drag-and-drop grids to personalize your cards. I read a lot about it before taking it, but it went beyond every expectation I had: it is easier, it offers incredible customization, and it comes with feature-rich filtering query language.

CONS: Leaving the good things aside, I started wondering what happens with consistency: while it allows for some data types to be created, edited, and tweaked limitlessly, others are simply frozen and stored back in the system. If this is what I get, I frankly prefer to create my own data types and my cards, instead of using their premade backed-in suggestions (UserStory, Feature, Epic, etc). As if this was not bad enough, cards are tied to Release metadata, meaning I can neither change them nor use them the way I'd like to (I can't rename them, I can't create new ones, and I can't delete ones I don't use). I'm also disappointed by the API: requests need to be modified completely, there is no chance to adjust separate objects. For instance, when adding comments to a bug, you need to include a user with his name and his ID. What do you think would happen if the name is wrong, and the ID is correct? Would it 'change' the name of that user? How is that even allowed? Finally, when using Effort metrics you're forced to choose between hourse and points, and the decision is irreversible. As you guess yourself, access to features will depend on the choice you've made, and nobody cares if that was an accidental decision.

PROS: TargetProcess is great tool for managing multiple projects. It is easy to use and the support team is always open to suggestions and ready to help. It allows you to define custom project structure and to create a one-off or even permanent dashboards so you can choose different ways of how you want to see your data. The constantly release new updates and fix bugs and the support team always asks us whether we need something more or how they can make the product even better.

CONS: It may take some time when loading for first time and this is the one thing I’d like to see improved.

PROS: Targetprocess will surprise you with customizability, rich feature-suits, beautiful and friendly interface, and of course reliable support. This is the most precise my description can get, otherwise I'd tell you I love everything about it (and that wouldn't be far from the truth).

CONS: I was so happy that APIs were there that I didn't even notice they need improvement. I wouldn’t name this a flaw, because WebHooks are already customizable enough. Not that budget friendly, but it comes with 1000 free entries, and that's fair enough even for a large project.

PROS: With four years of successful usage behind, I repute myself capable of assessing the quality of the tool we're discussing here: Ever since Targetprocess was released, it raised standards in the world of web project management. To start with, the usual fear of introducing new software is senseless because this one is easy! It will take you few seconds to navigate like a pro, and while you're using it you'll learn how to make the most of its performance. Even if you do happen to have a problem, their support will be a phone call away from your solution. They do it even for free users, how cool is that? Finally, customization is super powerful!

CONS: I don't have complaints against the program, just against myself: I'm still on the surface and I have to dig deeper in order to learn more about this fantastic software.

PROS: Data is all-inclusive, but you can see even separate portions if you want to. It molded instantly with our workflow, unlike other cases where we had to adjust workflows to the software.

CONS: Too many options, just too many! I understand the rationale of bringing as many features in as you can, but this goes so far that I'm stuck for hours on a simple report. In any case, I think that some solid warm-up can make it happen, you just need to find your way around the content. I used to mind the lack of invoicing tools, but I concluded APIs are good enough. There is no problem when exporting data, so why would I make life more complicated?

PROS: I don't think work is done before I get a full picture of how it is done, and I think that's the key to success. Thanks to TP, I am above every development process, using numerous tools to filter content and to keep the process under control (lists, cards, burndowns, timelines, graphical reports, etc). Planning is easy because it segregates to the lowest levels (from projects to features and tasks). I know it sounds scary, but the software is custom-friendly, and you're only expected to use what is necessary for your business: Our stakeholders, for instance, work on features/epics levels, while developers obviously deal with bugs and userstories.

CONS: Even if switching to TP was a big improvement (we jumped inside the 'personal zone' from an unflexible, customization-free program), it happened to lack some essential views and we had to borrow those from our previous software. Their support was there to do it for us, and I will always be grateful for that. I almost forgot: the mobile apps are not exactly the same in terms of quality, so stick to the desktop version as I do.

PROS: Creating views for each separate task is amazing. No remarks on speed, ease, or intuitiveness, just compliments. I've seen savvy users get on it quite fast, so learning won't be an issue either. My favorite part is their powerful API: we are not dependent on third-party software and we integrate our homemade tools. The customer support is so good that it discovers our problems even before we do.

CONS: Clicking on external links will not take you to a separate window (as usual), but it will replace your current TP session and you will have to go back. Entering staff data is also tricky: in case you don't know whether the employee has a license, you have to ask before you proceed. The system will not let you move on without this information.

PROS: It offers everything that Trello is missing, starting from UI which is highly intuitive. I like that we are able to provide every person in our team with the views which is extremely helpful for all our teams and team members. It allows us to keep track of all work in Kanban type list view and in timeline and hierarchical view. The documenting and structuring abilities are great because it enables us to document software projects into Targetprocess. Also, the integration with Helpdesk is wonderful because it allows us to convert customer feedback into tasks.

CONS: When it comes to set up, it is not intuitive solution at all. It has a learning curve and the setup pages show that they are from varipus product generations. The truth is that all its mashups and plugins provde lot of flexibility but it takes some searching among all the setup possibilities. It is a pricey for small size companies but it is worth the price.

PROS: I’m using TargetProcess for 3 years and there are lot of things that I like about it. It is configurable and flexible solution, it allows us to expand our businesses. The UI is intuitive and highly functional. They constantly release new features ona regular basis. It is stable solution and it offers their own hosting service.

CONS: Not much to dislike. We need some features but I believe they ar eon the roadmap. They constantly ask their users about their experience so they can work on the product’ improvement.

Every other company I have worked at used JIRA. Over the last 3-4 years I found that JIRA has become more bloated and harder to use. I first encountered Targetprocess when I started my current job and now wish I could move back to JIRA. Targetprocess is over complicated. I think the company that make it have forgotten that the majority of teams using this software want to use this as a tool to fit around their way of working. Even the livechat people say that it is confusing. JIRA is by no means perfect but is 100x better than Targetprocess.
