Airtable Review

What is Airtable?

Airtable is a database management solution designed for teams, organizations, and businesses of all sizes. Equipped with organization and collaboration functionalities and capabilities, Airtable serves as a very flexible and mobile-friendly database management solution.

It allows users to organize their content, ideas, projects, and records into a centralized system. Airtable functions as a typical spreadsheet; however, it is more powerful than a spreadsheet because of its relational database capability. The software can link related records and data, enabling users to directly access the information in one database from another database and vice versa.

Airtable consists of rich field types: texts, attachments, checkboxes, photos, long notes, barcodes, and more. Furthermore, Airtable allows users to share their records and databases with the other members of their team or organization. While sharing databases, they can configure the software to set permission levels, which define how other users will be able to access the database. As a result, other users will also be able to edit and change a database, or create a new one.

Another interesting possibility is to add comments, notes, or discussions on records; allowing them to collaborate right from the database itself.  Airtable is consist of rich field types: texts, attachments, checkboxes, photos, long notes, barcodes, and more.

Overview of Airtable Benefits

The capability of Airtable to link records between databases is one of its best-known and unique functionalities. To better understand this functionality, users should first know the basic components of a database in Airtable. Generally, the software is  made up of bases which contain all the information needed by an organization or a team. Bases organize information such as immunization records, applicant tracking, or the records of a local restaurant.

Within a base, users will be able to view all tables. These tables contain specific types of records. As an example, a local restaurant can create three tables: menus, ingredients, and vendors. As mentioned earlier, Airtable is like a spreadsheet; so the tables in the software are consist of columns and rows. Columns and rows display the record details, and users will be able to set them up by by creating and naming specific fields.

To illustrate this, again for a local restaurant; fields for menu name, menu date, photo, course, price, dietary restrictions, ingredients, and Chef’s Notes can be created as the columns for the menu table. As users add in new menus, they will then be able to create a list of rows as records.

In this example, the data in the menu table has a relationship with the data in the ingredients table since each menu or dish in the menu table contains ingredients. Hence, users will be able to access the details and records of an ingredient, which are found in the ingredients table, from the menu table. This capability of Airtable to link records between tables is an excellent functionality. To be able to do this, users have to configure a field in one table, selecting the other table where it will be referenced to.

Another functionality of Airtable is that it allows users to filter, sort, and rearrange records easily. By simply dragging and dropping down columns and rows, they will be able to change the order of their records in a table. They can also hide fields and filter the records in a table, so that it will display only the information they need.

Last but not least, Airtable enables users to customize the view of their tables.  If they want to create a view of their records which shows only a specific set of information, the software can be configured for such customized view. They will also be able to save their customized views and share them with others. Airtable offers two ways to share views: share via a public link and embed view on a website.

Airtable Position In Our Categories

Keeping in mind businesses have specific business-related demands, it is only sensible that they steer clear of buying a one-size-fits-all, ”best” system. Nonetheless, it is troublesome to pinpoint such an app even among well-known software solutions. The logical thing to undertake is to take note of the various key functions that need research including crucial features, packages, skill capability of staff, company size, etc. Thereafter, you must do the research to a full extent. Go over some of these Airtable evaluations and explore each of the software products in your shortlist more closely. Such all-encompassing product investigation guarantee you circumvent poorly fit applications and pay for the one which provides all the benefits your business requires.

Airtable is also listed in the following subcategories:

Companies have different needs and requirements and no software platform can be just right in such a scenario. It is useless to try to find a perfect off-the-shelf software product that fulfills all your business needs. The smart thing to do would be to customize the system for your special requirements, employee skill levels, budget, and other aspects. For these reasons, do not hurry and subscribe to well-publicized popular systems. Though these may be widely used, they may not be the best fit for your unique requirements. Do your research, look into each short-listed system in detail, read a few Airtable Collaboration Software reviews, speak to the maker for explanations, and finally choose the product that offers what you require.

PROS: Airtable provides a convenient and friendly approach to tracking and managing your performance from operations to sales. A major feature I find useful is its wide reaching support system, allowing easy access and sharing of several documents in whatever format. Highly customizable and effortless to set up, the platform lets you tailor your own page to your most workable preference without altering that of other users. Airtable also serves as a trouble-free communication channel even for huge teams, making it an ideal platform for those who juggle multiple job orders and interact with different people.

CONS: Most of us have one or two horror stories with customer service but Airtable's tend to be a regular disappointment when it comes to responding promptly to customer queries.

PROS: A chief strength of Airtable is its extensive interpretation of data and presenting them in ways a consumer can appreciate them better. In addition, its overall interface is highly functional, easy, and enjoyable to work with.

CONS: Airtable is restrictive in terms of the extent at which one can provide access to other team users and how they can manage the project. Aside from limited movement in authorization, Airtable may not be as enjoyable for chart-based software

PROS: Airtable has an extensive selection of templates which we can use for various tasks. All templates allow inputting of as many details as we want for sharing with team members. The design of these templates allow drag-and-drop, as well as gives sufficient spacing to seprate windows from widgets to avoid confusion. Airtable had aimed for a fully positive customer experience and, based on our experience, has undoubtedly achieved it.

CONS: The software remains to have much room for improvement in terms of making grids, data, and other structures modifiable. Some such as calendar events just disappered and those are crucial.

PROS: Airtable was a pivotal tool in helping our team work effectively online, cutting the need for physical meetings that are difficult to achieve with complete attendance especially if it invovles a handufl of people with different schedules. The platform, with it's simple design, gives ease in editing primary information on the content.

CONS: Airtable's structure does not allow alterations as much as I would like, contrary to my preference for customization in almost every aspect to narrow down the functions to what we need primarily.
