What is Targetprocess?

Targetprocess is a project management software solution to help you visualize and manage Agile projects and other complex work. It provides full support for Kanban, Scrum, SAFe, NEXUS, SoS, or customized Agile methods as well as other frameworks and approaches, allowing you to reduce clutter and focus on important workflows and processes. It gives enhanced visualization functionality to help you get visibility across teams, projects, and the entire company. As with most project management solutions, Targetprocess has a big-picture and drill-down dashboard feature and uses a hierarchical structure to organize tasks and subtasks.

Targetprocess is fully customizable and flexible, and can adapt to your organization’s structure and company’s management style. Although it is designed for companies in any industry with 50 to 5,000 IT employees, it can also be used to manage non-IT projects and processes like recruiting, marketing, and education, providing you transparency and visibility over data and workflows.

The PM solution brings with it several robust features, powerful automation, and extensive integrations to eliminate plugins for managing portfolios, manual synchronization of ALM and PPM data, and intermediary spreadsheets, among others. With the platform’s visual focus you can easily plan and execute high-level strategies without being hampered by inflexible processes, and manage all the stages of execution and strategy by bringing together your IT team, your work, and your business goals.

Overview of Targetprocess Benefits

View all your work in one place

You get to see all your work in one place and communicate with colleagues without need for email. You can create custom views to show what is relevant for you, and use graphical and custom reports to pinpoint trends and forecast performance. You’ll never have to lose track of any work item again.

Powerful visualization

The platform allows you to get a distraction-free overview of your projects, with the capability to drill down or scale up for details from any level of the hierarchy. You can use Timelines to track activities and work progress over time; Boards for planning, progress tracking, and to see anything you want; and Lists to view project hierarchy and manage backlogs.

Consolidate and connect

Targetprocess allows you to consolidate silos of information by connecting your mission critical systems and tools to get visibility and traceability of software changes and data flow in a “single source of truth”. You’ll have access to the full history of these changes, monitor modifications, track bugs, and quickly introduce fixes.

Define your rules

Rules and configurations can be defined and customized, enabling you to map your processes to your existing tools to guarantee a consistent workflow across all your teams. Web-based administration gives you the ability to perform field-level mapping, come up with custom integration rules, and automate conflict resolution.

Multiple features and integrations

With over four dozen features and nearly 80 integrations, you save time and money from using multiple platforms, constantly exporting/importing data, and configuring several independent integration technologies. Targetprocess brings all the tools and apps you need in one platform that can provide visibility and organize priorities across teams, projects, and the entire organization.

Service Desk

The vendor offers a standalone Service Desk application that allows users without Targetprocess license to submit any kind of requests, search and vote for ideas, add comments and track the status of related items in Targetprocess. If you do not need a Service Desk, a simplified widget is available which you can embed on your website or any other page that allows your clients to submit issues, ideas, or questions without leaving your site.

Extensive knowledge base

The learning center of Targetprocess includes onsite and online workshops, online classes, webinars, self-paced courses, FAQs, how-to articles, video tutorials, and knowledge library that covers all areas related to the software, its features and functionalities, your Targetprocess account, and many more. Customer support is also available through email, live chat, service desk, and a Slack community.

Since each enterprise has particular business needs, it is prudent for them to refrain from looking for a one-size-fits-all faultless software application. Needless to say, it would be useless to try to find such an app even among popular software applications. The smart thing to do would be to list the various important factors that need consideration such as main features, budget, skill levels of employees, company size etc. Then, you should do your homework thoroughly. Read some Targetprocess reviews and look into each of the other solutions in your shortlist in detail. Such exhaustive homework can ensure you discard ill-fitting platforms and choose the solution that presents all the elements you require for business success.

Pros: I work as a user-experience director, and I really enjoy my job. I put the customer first in every situation, and Targetprocess helps me do that even better than before. Due the nature of the services I am providing, I was able to recognize the passion of the software's developers, and I knew instantly that they had focused on the needs of users as myself. This was such a crucial discovery that I didn't even consider the value of the product, but the software project features convinced me even more: Targetprocess is equipped with thoughtful microinteractions, natural and intuitive navigation, and performance as close to the ideal as you could imagine. They invested so much effort to create it that it is just unbelievable!

Cons: What could I possibly find in such detailed software? It seems like they took care of everything! I would have to analyse it for months in order to find a tiny nit to pick on. OK, let's say it is the lack of a filter that selects all entities at once when you modify dates (but trust me, you can live without it!).

Pros: Targetprocess is the revolution of workflow boards, something like a combination of Trello and advanced project managers and tracking systems. You put data inside, slice it the way it suits your needs, and drag-and-drop grids to personalize your cards. I read a lot about it before taking it, but it went beyond every expectation I had: it is easier, it offers incredible customization, and it comes with feature-rich filtering query language.

Cons: Leaving the good things aside, I started wondering what happens with consistency: while it allows for some data types to be created, edited, and tweaked limitlessly, others are simply frozen and stored back in the system. If this is what I get, I frankly prefer to create my own data types and my cards, instead of using their premade backed-in suggestions (UserStory, Feature, Epic, etc). As if this was not bad enough, cards are tied to Release metadata, meaning I can neither change them nor use them the way I'd like to (I can't rename them, I can't create new ones, and I can't delete ones I don't use). I'm also disappointed by the API: requests need to be modified completely, there is no chance to adjust separate objects. For instance, when adding comments to a bug, you need to include a user with his name and his ID. What do you think would happen if the name is wrong, and the ID is correct? Would it 'change' the name of that user? How is that even allowed? Finally, when using Effort metrics you're forced to choose between hourse and points, and the decision is irreversible. As you guess yourself, access to features will depend on the choice you've made, and nobody cares if that was an accidental decision.

Every other company I have worked at used JIRA. Over the last 3-4 years I found that JIRA has become more bloated and harder to use. I first encountered Targetprocess when I started my current job and now wish I could move back to JIRA. Targetprocess is over complicated. I think the company that make it have forgotten that the majority of teams using this software want to use this as a tool to fit around their way of working. Even the livechat people say that it is confusing. JIRA is by no means perfect but is 100x better than Targetprocess.
