Organizations have diverse needs and requirements and no software application can be just right in such a situation. It is pointless to try to find a perfect off-the-shelf software app that meets all your business wants. The intelligent thing to do would be to modify the solution for your specific wants, employee skill levels, finances, and other aspects. For these reasons, do not hasten and subscribe to well-publicized trendy applications. Though these may be widely used, they may not be the ideal fit for your particular needs. Do your research, check out each short-listed application in detail, read a few Atlassian Confluence reviews, contact the vendor for clarifications, and finally choose the app that provides what you require.

Pros:
* Great WYSIWYG * Strong layout features (sections, columns) * Rich macro functionality - lets your wiki do so much more and integrate with the other cloud apps that you use * Allows to easily create hierarchies of pages, easy cross-page references * Useful blueprints (templates) for workflow documents * Visually pleasing - important because it appeals not just to engineers, but the whole company

Cons:
* Not as fast as I'd like it to be * Have to enter "Edit" mode to edit the page (no Google Docs-like experience), but that's changing in the future * Tables aren't great * A bit pricey, especially for small teams trying to use several Atlassian's products together

Pros:
Easy to use, easy to create and share information with other Confluence users in my company. I like the ability to create spaces, easily add new content, whether new pages or embedded attachments of other relevant files.

Cons:
Sometimes the search functions turns up too many results. If all users would assign tags to pages, searching would be much easier.
