What is Vonage?

Vonage is a cloud-based business VoIP software designed for different industries: accounting, finance, franchise healthcare, insurance,  law firms, marketing, real estate, retail, transportation and logistics, and travel and hospitality. Described as an affordable and innovative business communications solution, Vonage is using a cloud-hosted VoIP phone system. VoIP stands for Voice over Internet Protocol, and this means users will be able to run their phone over the web. Hence, it allows all users connected to an IP network, such as the Internet, to communicate with one another.

Vonage aims to maximize profitability and to improve productivity by equipping  branch offices, contact centers, and virtual teams powerful capabilities. They will be able to conduct online meetings, collaborate by web conferencing, participate to audio conference calls, and connect through their smartphones, laptops, desktops, or tablets. This software, furthermore, helps businesses of all sizes to save more money, as it eliminates dependency to  costly installation and maintenance of on-site hardware and infrastructure used for the traditional telephone system.

Overview of Vonage Benefits

Vonage offers a feature which enables users to set up an automatic attendant, routing calls to specific departments. This feature is called Virtual Receptionist. Virtual Receptionist is a functionality which allows users to customize their phone system, so they will be able to deliver an exceptional customer service.  It ensures that calls initiated by customers are forwarded to the right person or place.

Furthermore, as a customizable functionality, users will be able to create call routing options for their callers. As an example, they can provide their callers an option to dial by name or dial by extension.  Before calls are routed to the appropriate department, customers can also use the company directory. Users can set up as many Virtual Receptionists as they want, and they can customize  them for calls during holidays, lunchtimes, and after hours.

Meanwhile, Vonage has network optimization capabilities. It can maintain call quality and call continuity while businesses and enterprises are using their bandwidth-intensive cloud applications: video, chat, and collaboration tools. Likewise, it ensures that such applications have the bandwidth they need for real-time communications. Hence,  data and messages  are transmitted smoothly and won’t be delayed.  

Configurable from the admin portal, Vonage also has a call monitoring feature.  With this, supervisors will be able to listen to call recordings of their sales agents and service staff; and they can, in fact, do it remotely using the Vonage mobile or desktop app.  This feature functions as a training tool for coaches, allowing them to check how their agents are interacting with their customers or prospects in their calls. Vonage provides three call monitoring modes: monitor, whisper, and barge.

PROS: Unlike other programs, Vonage does not mess with your voice quality. This is quite surprising because you can use this in virtually any device as long as there is an internet connection. All I had to do was to download its app onto my phone, and voila--I have everything set up. Normally, platforms such as this result in choppy communication, but the sound delivery with this tool is really smooth. Vonage’s support team respond to your issues in real-time too.

CONS: I am a long-time user, and I haven’t experienced any drawbacks from this app. I use this for both work and personal calls. All seems to works well.

PROS: There’s nothing fancy about this software--but it functions just as it should. You can rely on it to get your calls through the other party without a problem. So far, I haven’t had issues with the quality of the calls too.

CONS: I can’t really pinpoint a time when I have come across a major issue using this program. There was probably a minor thing or two, but that has been remedied right away.

PROS: I really like how Vonage is available on various platforms--on my phone, on my desktop, and on my laptop. It offers accessibility above all else. The quality of the calls I’ve been able to make through this program has been impressive too. I believe that this is really a top-notch VoIP tool.

CONS: I really hate how my conference calls are just limited to 3 participants at a time. Aside from this minor issue, everything works fine for me.

PROS: Losing calls is virtually impossible with Vonage. It can store data on who has tried to call you and who you have a call appointment with. Sending voicemails are quite a breeze too. In fact, I think everything is a breeze with Vonage. Making calls and receiving them is so easy. If you’re not disposed to receive calls, you can also opt to send out text messages instead.

CONS: I do notice some intermittent static noises during calls and sometimes the audio is a little unclear too. And when the internet connection is weak, it also does not perform very well. Other than these minor issues, there is nothing else I would change about this tool.

PROS: First of all, I love how I have the option to take my calls on the desktop or on my phone. Another thing I love about this tool is that this has integrated quite seamlessly into my work processes. I’ve been able to store data into the program because of how reliable it is too.

CONS: I can’t pinpoint this as a problem of the program itself or if it is our internet connection. However, I want to note here that we’ve been intermittently dropping calls. Also, each day’s call schedule can’t be unique. It has to be the same throughout the whole week.

PROS: This is just the kind of simple and uncomplicated tool that I need. It doesn’t have flashy features that can wow you, but it’s very reliable--and at the end of the day, this is what matters. I’ve been using Vonage for years now, and I still see myself relying on this tool for the years to come.

CONS: I use Vonage to make calls--that’s it. I do know that I am not fully utilizing some of its other features, but that is just how it is. I haven’t encountered any issues so far.

PROS: Vonage was really easy to set up. Now, as a regular user, the impression remains--Vonage is a very easy software to work with. I love how they give us the option to send text messages instead of having to call all the time.

CONS: I’d like to believe that I have a pretty decent internet connection. However, there are times when my calls with Vonage would either be dropped mid-conversation, or I would hear static noises on the line. I’m not quite sure if the problem is from my end or theirs.

PROS: I love Vonage mainly for its data storage. I can record my calls through it and even replay those calls. Sending voicemails are quite easy too.

CONS: Vonage can’t seem to handle voicemails properly. Sometimes, the messages are quite unclear.

PROS: I’ve been using Vonage for the better part of the decade. So far, it has been a reliable tool for me to conduct calls. In terms of quality, this is an aspect that I really like about Vonage. There are virtually zero static sounds and other noises on the line. In the off-chance that I do encounter issues, their tech team is always quick to respond to my issues. Its availability on mobile is a huge plus in my book too.

CONS: I experience lags on some days that follow a software update.

PROS: We use Vonage Business in my company and so far, I’ve been really enjoying the perks of this tool. I can easily receive and make calls through it. It is a very straightforward communication tech. There are no audible noises that you would typically hear when using other apps too. Everything is smooth, and the features all run without hitches. I also love how it doesn’t just limit me to calls too. I can also send out messages here.

CONS: I’ve been really loving the many uses of this program. However, it does have its moments where calls get intermittently disturbed by static noises. The app isn’t the best, so I prefer using the desktop version.

PROS: Vonage removes all of the complications of other solutions in its ranks. The result: a straightforward tool that anticipates the needs of its users. I really love its layout and environment. The font properties are really easy on the eyes and you’d be hard-pressed to misunderstand the instructions because of how clear they are. You can access it anywhere too! On the web, through its app, etc--you name it. It’s a really great tool to have on your corner.

CONS: Sometimes a straightforward tool is just what you need. Other times, there is a call for something much more. Take Vonage for example. Now that they have developed their initial product model to a T, I think that it is high time that they expand its capabilities now.

PROS: Vonage is a great app for calling and even texting other users. I love how it is readily available just about anywhere. I know that this has more to do with its cloud-availability, but I think it’s worth noting just how great it is that they have developed this for other platforms as well--on mobile regardless of the operating system and on desktop.

CONS: You can’t always get the right connection when you’re using the app on your phone. The desktop version is more reliable, I think. I’d recommend this more than the app.

PROS: I just love how everything seems to work in this software. The dashboard is simple and very, very straightforward. I have everything I need right where I need them to be. This saves me time from having to sift through the millions of commands that I don’t actually need.

CONS: There have been no noise disturbances except for one or two times. However, I can overlook this because the quality of the voice is really good. Whenever these rare noise disturbances or static noises happen, they only last for a split second anyway.

PROS: Vonage has been really useful to me. I use it for conducting calls outside of the country, as well as walkthroughs on video calls. If anyone is looking for a good and reliable VoIP, I would not hesitate to recommend this program, for sure.

CONS: It’s just a minor issue--but I do with that their support team would be more responsive to questions and problems that I ask them to resolve.
