Jabber is a revolutionary technology concept for open instant messaging (IM). It has been on the market ever since 1998, but it was recently formalized as an XMPP (Extensible Messaging and Presence Protocol), as required by the IETF Internet standards for online presence and messaging. Therefore, the platform is also available as a wireless app used by mobile devices.
Quite similar to Apache and Linux, Jabber operates as an XML-based open source platform with the main difference being its intuitive, email-like interface (it even uses the ‘@’ suffix). That is exactly how the platform manages to pick and read email addresses from various providers, and to indicate their exact origin.
The platform was originally designed by a group of IT volunteers who had the idea to make this open source tool available for free. It eventually evolved, and included numerous advanced features and technical support.
Show MoreTo start with, Jabber is a portable and flexible platform that uses nothing but a stable internet connection to connect your team and your customers. All you have to do is to download the app, and it will allow you to make direct calls from the computer or the mobile phone.
Jabber saves more than your time – it keeps your budget safe too! VOIP is a common getaway for budget savers these days, and the better it is, the more you’re about to save on analog hardware and bills coverage. This platform is able to reduce hardware costs by 80%, and phone bills by approximately 50%.Jabber eliminates the need for expensive phone switches, racks, and specialized hardware – as soon as your IP phone is plugged in, you’re ready to go.
At the same time, you can forget about separate voice and data wiring because your LAN saves all all connections on a single wire. Sounds clean, doesn’t it?
What may as well be considered as a distinctive advantage is the lack of geographical boundaries, meaning that you can install Jabber extensions on literally every phone, and communicate on various locations across the country without paying additional fees. As expected, peer-to-peer calls go completely off the grid.
Finally, Jabber is packed with amazing and innovative features. Voicemail, for instance, can be sent directly to your address as a MP3 format, and you also get to use the platform for conferencing, forwarding, auto-attendance, and so on.
Show MoreKeeping in mind companies have distinct business needs, it is only rational that they abstain from preferring an all-encompassing, “perfect” solution. Having said that, it is hard to try to come across such a software solution even among widely used software systems. The sensible step to undertake can be to shortlist the various vital factors that call for a careful thought like important features, plans, skill competence of the employees, business size, etc. Next, you must conduct the research thoroughly. Have a look at some Jabber evaluations and scrutinize each of the software products in your list more closely. Such all-encompassing product investigation makes sure you steer clear of unfit apps and choose the one that has all the function your company requires to realize efficiency.
Position of Jabber in our main categories:
Jabber is one of the top 100 Collaboration Software products
Jabber is one of the 50 Communications Software products
Since each company has unique business requirements, it is prudent for them to abstain from searching for a one-size-fits-all faultless software system. Needless to say, it would be pointless to try to find such an app even among widely used software solutions. The clever thing to do would be to list the various important elements that require consideration such as key features, finances, skill levels of staff members, company size etc. Then, you should do your groundwork thoroughly. Read some Jabber VoIP Software reviews and look into each of the other solutions in your shortlist in detail. Such in-depth groundwork can make certain you reject ill-fitting platforms and choose the solution that offers all the features you need for business success.

PROS: I like that Jabber's connectivity (phone/screensharing) is easy, secure and fast; we can share large files, even as big as 1GB in less time. Also, the VOIPs are connected to Jabber such that someone who is not at his/her desk will still get to know if the VOIP is ringing.
CONS: It does not sync with the Outlook contacts. It would be easier to use the jabber if it uses the contacts synced from outlook. Inclusion of more emojis would also be great.
The least favorable review
PROS: The integration with our Cisco phone system is great. I can make or receive callls and search the phone directory from Jabber very quickly. The visual voicemail and playback is also a huge help. Chat is also a good feature that works well most of the time for me, with the option to save chats to an Outlook folder as well.
CONS: The desktop sharing can be hit or miss sometimes as it is not as rich as Webex or Skype where you can do a lot more. The calendar integration with Outlook is nice but superfluous and video chat is a hassle. Auto sign in options are hit or miss as well for some users

Ease of Use
PROS: It's an easy-to-use instant messaging app that's great for quick questions or to pass on info in the office. It's particularly helpful as some of my colleagues are located in different parts of the world. I also like that I can be a bit creatively expressive with the status feature.
CONS: It looks as though there's a place to put your picture here, but I can't figure how to do it.

A slick interface that integrates well with Cisco’s unified communications

Ease of Use
PROS: The interface is slick, and it integrates into Cisco unified communications quite well. Most of our users don't have problems using the interface, and they seem to like the integration to their phones. Single sign on is also very good integration that works well with our Microsoft active directory.
CONS: It seems to go through updates quickly. And if you're in a corporate environment, you can get behind on versions quickly. We also find the screen share feature quite buggy on Windows 7 but not on Windows. Licensing isn't the cheapest, especially since it ties into your Unified Communication suite.

Ease of Use
PROS: I enjoy how easy it is to send a quick message to a colleague with Jabber. You can also see the status of your colleagues (online, busy, out of office) so you'd know whether an email would be a more appropriate means of contacting them. It is fun and easy to use.
CONS: There doesn't seem to be a way to include GIFs in your chat message. Also, the integration of Jabber with phone lines needs a lot of improvement. Video and regular call integration isn't always successful and you can be left using your webcam while talking on the phone with your colleague.

Ease of Use
PROS: I like Jabber's ability to connect the various communication channels. It will pull contacts from your email and makes it easy to communicate by text, call, or video. I also love the instant meeting function so Idon't have to go through the hassle of setting up meetings through Webex for a quick discussion.
CONS: The small tab at the top when you're not using Jabber sometimes gets in the way of navigating tabs on the internet.

Ease of Use
PROS: Jabber's basic instant messaging functionality gets the job done cleanly, while the additional features add relevant value without cluttering with an overload of functionality. Features such as sharing screens or start a WebEx are nice and easy to have as well.
CONS: The phone integration appeared difficult to deploy across a multi-site deployment. Also, the automatic reporting of a user's location (when set) does not work all the time.

PROS: It allows me to efficiently work from home while still be in our network and save work in real time to our server so I don't have to make a copy needlessly.

PROS: I can easily communicate with my colleagues while at work. If I am on a demo or a call, I can seamlessly contact my manager for help if needed.
CONS: There's nothing I don't like but if I had to choose something I would say the interface. The interface isn't as pretty as some of the other systems I've seen in the market but it's functionally great.

PROS: What I like best is the ability to "share" your screen with the other person to whom you are chatting with. I also like that you can "see" who is online and available to chat via the colored symbol next to the person's name and you see when the person is typing a message so you can get an immediate response.
CONS: I wish there more more emojis that are available.

Ease of Use
PROS: Cisco Jabber works really well as a online messaging program. It is very easy to learn and use and also integrates very well with our other Cisco phone products such as Cisco CallManager. I also like the presence feature; it integrates with your Outlook calendar.
CONS: One part I dislike is that there are not enough emoticons in Cisco Jabber. Also, I wish client updates could be done at the server level instead and that it was able to be integrated with other instant messaging programs like Yahoo Messenger or Google Hangouts so that you could chat with others on a different platform.
