What is OnSIP?

OnSIP is a cloud-based, real-time business phone system designed by Junction Networks for small and medium-sized businesses. It’s a reliable VoIP phone service that leverages open-source Session Initiation Protocol (SIP) algorithm to provide low-cost cloud telephony solutions. The platform delivers powerful yet simple solutions with better features and flexibility than the traditional phone systems.

OnSIP can be configured in a host of ways to suit the unique needs and requirements of small and medium-sized businesses. It can also be deployed in one, or multiple locations with 5 to 50 employees and its system demands no additional equipment to install. Better still, the system integrates seamlessly with the underlying applications and give the user the freedom to choose the type of service (either pay as you go, unlimited, or a la carte) that suits them best.

Overview of OnSIP Benefits

OnSIP is a powerfully simple business phone system that packs a punch in terms of reliable telephony features. It’s a flexible solution that allows you to scale your phone system so that it grows with your business with ease. The system delivers hosted VoIP and SIP trunking solutions that streamline the utilization of your IP PBX.

One highlight that makes OnSIP an interesting business solution is the availability of multiple plans. The platform provides metered plans with a fixed monthly rate and a per minute fees. It deviates from the norm by offering a pay as you go (PAYG) plan that includes a base rate fee per month, as well as a per minute fee for all calls. Although the plan includes a minimum monthly charge, it’s still a great business phone service for the budget-conscious businesses. In addition, the provider offers unlimited and metered calling plans that are identical to what other VoIP providers offer.

Another benefit is that OnSIP provides hosted VoIP service. This means OnSIP allows you to use their services, equipment, and servers to handle all aspects of your business communications. Better still, you don’t have to worry about software download or investing in expensive hardware; everything is expertly controlled in the cloud. The system’s equipment automatically routes all your calls over a powerful Public Switched Telephone Network (PSTN) to the hosted VoIP PBX system.

Additionally, OnSIP supports unified communications through the My.OnSIP portal. The portal comes with essential features including receiving calls, messaging coworkers, managing voicemail, and handling presence. It functions flawlessly on tablet and mobile devices to facilitate unprecedented mobility and allow you to communicate via your business number anywhere, anytime.

PROS: One of the things that first come to mind is how flexible this is. Routing calls is easy to do and I can send them where I want them to go. Our business has its own cloud storage service but I've found that this tool's external cloud storage service works better and makes setting up call recording easy. Best of all, this is really inexpensive when compared to its competitors. They share many similar features, but this one is easier to set up, reliable, and affordable.

CONS: I really do like the phone system, but one thing that would really take this to the next level and make it a mobile phone replacement is if it also included texting. Otherwise, I have only had a few issues that were also quickly dealt with by the customer support team.

PROS: We've been using this for some time now and we have had no issues at all when it comes to downtime. It has ensured that our business proceeds smoothly.

CONS: While it is reliable, I do wish that it had more advanced functions. As of now, it is very basic. It doesn't even have a mobile softphone.
