What is 3CX?

3CX is a robust software-based and open standards PBX phone system which helps organizations and companies tackle their daily communications needs, boost the productivity of their agents, conduct meetings through web conferencing, and reduce telco costs. This IP phone system and unified communications solution can be run in the cloud or on-premises, or virtualized on existing servers using Hyper V or VMware. 3CX offers advanced communications features such as the ability to view presence, deliver faxes and voicemails through email, send text messages, integrate with live chat, Facebook and WhatsApp and host webinars and online meetings.

With 3CX, remote workers will be able to make interoffice phone calls for free and customers can reach out to them at a lower charge or make free phone calls over the 3CX live chat system. The PBX phone system also eliminates licensing and billing on a per extension basis, enabling users to reduce their phone bills and communications costs. 3CX has VoIP clients designed for iOS and Android devices which permit users to handle and transfer calls from their smartphones as well as view the presence of their coworkers from any location.

3CX is an easy to install and manage PBX phone system. It can be hosted and managed by 3CX for a set and forget simple solution, it can be set up in the cloud using an existing cloud service account or run on-premises by installing it on any Windows or Linux machine.

3CX  offers several SMB and enterprise pricing plans for all users to choose from. The plans are can be availed either through annual subscription or perpetual licensing, and the pricing varies based on the edition/version you’ll purchase and the number of simultaneous calls you need.

Normally, 1 simultaneous call per 3-4 extensions is sufficient and required. So, if your company has 50 extensions you need to purchase a plan or call license dedicated to 16 simultaneous calls. In addition, if you choose to avail the system through perpetual licensing, you need to subscribe to a yearly maintenance plan and pay for its corresponding maintenance fee.

PROS: Easy to install and use despite using almost 200 extensions. It's also very affordable compared to other systems. Despite this though, it is still better than what those other systems offer.

CONS: It has some bugs, especially mobile applications. The calls can be cut-off at times. Despite this, I think 3CX is still a great system that is worth every penny.

PROS: We've been using it for 10 years and during that time, it has gone through a lot of great changes. This includes the inclusion in its licenses. Large meetings are already included in it. There's also no additional cost for web meetings and its mobile app. And since it is easy to use and maintain, you can easily train other users on how to use it.

CONS: There are a lot of updates that remove some great features. There are times when we are using a feature and when the system is updated, it's not there anymore. This can be a hassle for us. The UI also changes frequently, so we have to relearn how to use it each time. I hope they can reduce such changes as it can bring inconvenience to us as their clients.

PROS: I can easily manage several 3CX installs for different clients. This makes my job easier.

CONS: It saves the data of the last page you've been to before closing it. This can then take time to go to your desired page.

PROS: Easy installation and has a great selection of tutorials so we can learn how to use it. There is also a forum where we can ask customer service or other users some questions we have. Aside from this it also has tons of features that deliver what has been promised to us. It is also very cheap compared to other software.

CONS: It has many unnecessary updates that remove great features from the current system. It should also widen its list of the supported system as it is very limited. The payment for the maintenance is also a waste since you don't really get much support from their customer service. It also lacks enterprise features and the updates present new UI each time. This can be annoying for users and it takes time to find every feature again.

PROS: We've been using 3CX for 4 years now and it helped us a lot. It is cheap and it supports several IP phones at a lower cost. It has a built-in web conference and can be used remotely. There's also no extra charge for using call center features.

CONS: The hold button doesn't work. It doesn't have a barge-in feature. The windows version doesn't allow more than one barge-in. Troubleshooting options are also very limited. These cons are in comparison with the previous software we used. If 3CX is able to fix it, it will be ten times greater than that of our old system.
